Nice hat trick goal. Remind me why we sold him?! ?

Because one good game doesn't make a career.

Before yesterday he'd hardly pulled up any trees.

  2. If three points penalty was the end of things now, no more chance for the EFL to have us for our accounts or late submission I'd take it all day.

Think we have all acted a little entitled about the fight with the EFL and we're lucky we come out of this still in the championship. Three points at this stage of the season is more than enough time to prepare and make up ground.

Get these in and barring a heavy points deduction we should have enough quality to avoid relegation.

Get those in and we should have enough for a play off push nevermind avoid relegation.

On current showing we look comfortably mid table this season. A few key signings and we're a top half/top 6 side potentially.

  4. The players will play their best games when they trust the ability of others.

Bryne and Bird have benefitted from having two older heads at CB last night, letting them play with more creativity.

Ravel the same, give him the freedom of the pitch and he will link the defense through to attack. Knowing he has Bird and Shinnie behind him seems to give him that freedom.

  5. Not sure who else would make sense to sign in the circumstances anyway.

Jags is more than good enough to cover Davies and Stearman and Cashin looks ready to start moving into the first team. If he's on 4.5k or less it's hardly breaking the bank either.

Baldock is a useful option and may end up playing backup to Stretton anyway with a view to Cybulski stepping up later in the season. Ravel and Lawrence can both play the 'false nine' role and Festy is built well for the role if needed.

The DCFC LB production line keeps going... Lowe, Buchanan, (Archie jumped ship), now Williams... England youth International Moloney next (who is now in the U18s).

Someone recently doubt we could produce so many good players in a single position in such a short time.

What a selection of talent this club has!

The academy is set up to keep bringing full backs through that play the modern 'wing-back' role.

Noticed alot of the players actually start furthur up the pitch and get converted to full backs over time, making exciting attacking players (great for highlights/scouts and therefore for selling on). It's no coincidence we've produced 5 or 6 good full backs and currently no (possibly one) decent CB, we don't train them to defend.

  7. XIf we can get back what we paid for him and maybe then some (thinking around £5mill) that would be a fair price for him.

Potential and still young as well as an established international.

Aluko signed for Ipswich too. I cant see us getting Garner when league one teams are trumping our offers?

Not all loans have their wages paid by the loaning club, would imagine if we could offer a club assurances over playing time they would be more lenient on wages/fees. Double edged sword though

  9. Gut feeling...

Cashin to become our next 'big' academy player. Captain within 3 years.

Lawrence to hit 20 goals this season, Stretton 10+ goals.

Festy/Bryne to form a scary partnership on the right.

Mid table with a late season push with the return of Bielik/maturity of youngsters such as Stretton and Hutchinson and hopefully some reinforcements in January.

That said I'll take last day win to stave of relegation given the chance.

If EFl is playing hardball over the accounts, we’re better off in the long run standing firm even if it means no signings tomorrow.

I’m still thinking we will get all of this sorted even if we start the season with a thin squad.

We can cope with a thin squad for a game or two by the way

If we sign no players we go into the season with two players who can play CB:

Cashin, who has no senior experience and even if he's ready will he be ready to play 46+ games?

Fozzy, aging LB who again has had his share of injuries.

Lose either of them to injury we have no players that can really play CB. Not sure even the u23s have some established CBs currently as we released Wassall this year.

I'm pretty sure it is. It's a catch-22 for Cashin. We won't want to play him in an official game because if we do, we won't be able to sign one of the triallists. But if we sign the triallists we won't want to play him in an official game! Hence my comment it's an odd selection today.

Of course thrilled for him that he acquitted himself well. I do like our tradition of Irish connections, currently with him, Festy and Jason Knight flying the tricolour at Derby.

Not sure it quite works like that, looking at Brum when they had a similar embargo a few years back. Pretty sure we could sign 4 trialists and start the season with them. If we then promote Cashin (or any others) from the youth squads it just means we're above quota for the next transfer window (ie we'd have to move two players on before we could bring one in).

If Cashin was promoted to the first team squad end of last season they'd probably say different but right now he's a youth player and will start the season as it, whether he starts the Huddersfield game or not.
