Pretty difficult ask to not pre-judge someone who dumped us into administration and then made a really self indulgent statement full of excuses to be fair!

How is trying to do deals with a fake sheik and a Spanish waiter doing the best for the club? It was best for him (to get out of his ongoing liability of up to £1.5million per month).
Mismanagement of finances and circumventing rules has got us into this mess.
Even if this is one last attempt by him, he will never be forgiven for the mess that he has got us into and how much worry he will have caused so many fans and families worrying about their jobs...the fact that he went to Rob Dorsett not Rooney, blames everyone bar himself in the statement shows a complete lack of self insight.
None of this is having a go at you, just dont place any hope on 'him'.

I understand that but surely even in that case you'd give yourself some wiggle room? Especially considering the on going nonsense with the EFL and we've already had several takeovers fallen through.
    It just seems needlessly reckless.

RammingStone66 got a reaction from Ramarena in Derby County Administration (with the slight possibility of Liquidation still there)
Can't read the whole article as I'm not a subscriber but it seems the athletic thought Mel borrowed 81mil from Gabay to buy the stadium. The article was posted in July 2020.

Incidentally, in case anyone had forgot Morris did make some charity donations once.
Am sure all of the staff potentially losing their jobs will be heartened to hear that.

I'd dedicate Napalm Death's You Suffer to Morris after the final whistle - shortest song ever recorded at 1.3 seconds.
Wouldn't waste any more of my breath on him then that.

I dont think liquidation will happen at all
DCFC has had low debts but its has been going up since Covid whereas the company that owns DCFC has £60m debt to Mel personally
I think Mel will try to clear the debt as much as possible on the club(going to administration) and move forward trying to secure the sale of the holding club for a reduced fee, unless he is arrogant enough to want his full investment back
However as I said before we aren't an appealing prospect, there has been a huge lack of transparency with the club and there has been reluctancy to show anything.
We dont know who owns the club and whether a relegation, would mean a reduced rental fee
We dont know the state of the training ground, there is said to be a loan taken out against it and land charge on this or the stadium, I would say our training ground and academy, aren't as good as made out by people in Derby, we are one or two levels behind the top PL academies(Tottenham, Chelsea, Man City and etc.) and below the established academies(Southampton, Fulham and etc.)
This is why we are struggling to shift the club. Potential investors are finding this stuff out deep in to the process rather than it be readily available
I said this would happen in March, despite people saying otherwise.
IMO, the biggest failure was not doing this and the points deduction last season, we could have started a fresh last season and moved forward with a clean slate. Mel has too many smoke and mirrors, that its hurting the club and unfair to the fans

Morris chose to not have an exec board to help with governance

Morris has chosen not to deal with potential investors
Morris has chosen to put us into admin because he no longer wants to pay for his mistakes

A good striker wont want to join a club that is sinking faster than the Titanic and Mel wont spend the money on one because he will be looking for the fastest possible exit once this is all 'resolved'.
This is the business end of the downward spiral.
The funny thing is, from what I can tell the EFL still haven't proven their case for a 9 point deduction, at least not based on anything that has been publicly released. The entire process is an absolute piss take.

Phillip Cocu is the only manager during Mel Morris's reign that actually followed the club vision. You know, playing the youth, improving the youth and looking to add value to the team.
The likes of Lampard, Rowett and even McClaren had no interest in doing so. They wanted promotion first and foremost at Derby to enhance their own reputation, and they were willing to leave a trainwreck behind to then move on to better pastures.
What Rowett did in particular was unforgivable. He sold Hughes and signed Davies, Huddlestone, Ledley, Jerome etc. He was responsible for a 20% hike on our wage bill to £40 million+. He did all that to have one shot at promotion, and the playoff finish enhanced his reputation, then he ditched us the moment a better opportunity came along.
Phillip Cocu, on the other hand, was here for the long haul. He was willing to sacrifice his own reputation (Forest away in the cup) to play the youth players as that benefited the club. He publically backed Tom Lawrence after the crash, and played him to an extent that he retained his value despite many wanting TL sacked. To the benefit of the club. He wanted to provide a pathway for the younger players to either break in to the first team, or be sold for a profit, to the benefit of the club.
He was undermined following Wayne Rooney's arrival. He was dealt with a ridiculous set of circumstances including the Keogh fiasco, Krystian Bielik's injury and Chris Martin leaving. We failed to sign a striker replacement, and saw our better players leave. And after all that, he reduced his compensation fee after his sacking, to the benefit of the club...
Most in his position would have told Mel to do one.

I still can reconcile bringing in Cocu with a breif to bring through young players and also signing aging wayne rooney in a deal heavily sponson influenced (with a promise to make him manager) - do one thing or the other thing, surely.....still, it's past tense now and things weren't working out with Cocu.

    On Mel Morris:
When he sold Candy Crush in 2015, he became immensely cash rich as per the above. Whilst I do believe he has lost an uncomfortable amount of personal fortune in owning Derby County, in which time he has looked to spend above the means of the competition rules of his own volition. It would still make him an immensely rich person, who has absolutely no excuse for running the club as badly as he currently is.
What I would say to him, given half the chance, is clean up your own mess. The cutting of corners is doing nothing but to agitate fans and to downtools as significantly as he has, i.e. not pay the HMRC or other clubs, not to mention the fiasco with the ticket office, is absolutely inexcusable.
If he can get the club stable again, which isn't going to cost the world, and away from the 'crisis club' narrative then it will become a lot more attractive to potential buyers - real potential buyers and not blokes who know how to steal videos from TikTok or look fancy in a big white robe.

That is exactly what I'd heard but Cocu Alonso circus/deal was never going to happen so any shrewd business brain would be looking to offer no more than £1 if the debts are all to be settled, substantial (allegedly) and there is no real assets such as stadium and training ground

This feels a bit like the headlines when the first court case was happening, suggesting we would be docked 21 points etc. It’s an extreme headline, highlighting the maximum sentence.
As Radioactive says, I reckon this gets sorted before the end of the month. However, and this is the worrying part - I don’t trust this management to come through with action on time. Looking at the past 2 years, there have been so many instances of failure to act by ownership, there is a growing doubt that we will get things done on time. Feels like we’re on a precipice and moving closer to the edge!

I doubt any club in the premiership is in financial difficulty. Ride the gravy train as long as you can safe in the knowledge that you have parachute payments if the worst happened.

Looks to me, based on managerial resignation and others turning the job down after accepting it, coupled with selling good players seemingly on the cheap, that Swansea are in a bit of trouble now their parachute payments have/are run out.
The whole system is of course broken and biased but that is a different conversation. Just strikes me that if a football club needs cash then selling as many tickets as you can and treating your loyal fans with courtesy, respect and common decency whilst communicating honestly is a pretty good idea.

Ed Dawes kicked off about this on Sportscene last night. He had a good old rant about the wall of silence from the club that they and other local journalists face when they seek answers. They're clearly as frustrated as the fans are.
Speculation fills an information void, so the club hierarchy cannot be surprised by the direction the narrative on social media is taking.
I fully understand the possible need for secrecy and discretion on takeover and financial matters in difficult times, but "say nothing" has a limited lifespan. They need to make a statement before the next fixture that gives us at least an outline of the current situation.
