Ah, I love the gloating game! My go...
First off, the last time you won two in a row was 40 feckin years ago so you need to get to the gym sharpish if you poor ickle arms are growing weary as it's most likely a serious case of disuse atrophy ? Perhaps while you're hanging about over the next 40 years yous lot could avoid a recurrence of this pesky syndrome by waving around a couple of house bricks to simulate the required effort? ?
We had a few starters missing too: Manu Tuilagi, Owen Farrell, the skipper Courtney Lawes, Johnny Hill, Jonny May, Maku Vunipola, Billy Vunipola all out and Joe Marler and Joe Marchant returning having not trained with the squad due to Covid. You guys looked quite well though, although some of us are confused as to why some of your players were wearing orange. ?
But these are just excuses right? Let's be gracious, not point out the game was gifted to you and instead acknowledge the number of occasions where Scotland have beaten England and gone on to win the 6 Nations, which is...

Now, what were you saying was tiresome again? Sorry, but I've completely forgotten ?

He can't help how he looks and he's a good manager. Outthought our management team today.

Smart. Why sign the players that your team needs to avoid relegation when you can instead sign the players from your rivals that they need to avoid relegation?

Many thanks for the tears and kind words folks.  And sincere apologies for the out of character negativity!
Not wishing to tempt fate, but since my post above, we’ve had more positives than negatives, and thought it only fair to share… Seeing as it’s the season of joy and goodwill, and all that…
Turns out that whatever it was, it led to him contracting Sepsis, which is poo in its own right, but in theory at least, he’s now on the mend, and past the worst!
Still “very poorly” and there’s a long road to recovery ahead. Still on a feeding tube, with the odd spoon of custard, orange juice & the like. (He even managed a sip from a cup yesterday, all on his own… slow and shaky, but never spilt a drop, including picking up and replacing his cup on his table. That brought smiles all round!). He’s expected to stay in a while, But he’s fully conscious, albeit drowsy/sleepy. He knows who we are, and aside from a little confusion over the most recent events, he doesn’t appear to have mislaid any of his marbles!  The facial swellings have gone down, and they’ve given him a shave (He was beginning to look a lot like Santa!)
The hospital are still allowing us both to visit together (daily covid tests before we go) and we’re continuing to go for the allowed 1 hour every day, as his sole nominated visitors, so we’ve cancelled all other plans (Christmas Day Lunch at son’s, Boxing Day shenanigans at ours, The WBA game, and our 5 night New Year camping trip in The Lakes) in an attempt to keep ourselves isolated and covid-free). We’re going nowhere, and seeing nobody, for the foreseeable. If we fail, he’ll get no visitors at all!
Today is hospital to see him, cemetery to see the mother in law, and Heritage Woods to see how much our granddaughter’s dedicated tree has grown (she was only with us for an hour, bless her).
The latter two are now Christmas traditions anyway, so deserve a mention here, I guess!)
Compared to normal, we’re still pretty miserable(!) and totally shattered, if truth be told, but compared to the start of this week, we are floating on cloud nine!  For now at least, we are counting our blessings, and I truly hope each and every one of you are able to do the same.
Share, care, and be there!  Christmas, but with a catchy covid-like slogan!  ?
A Merry Christmas to you all, bottoms up, chins up, and Up The ducking Rams.

Yeah, pretty pee'd off.  For the 1st time in years we had 2 home games over Christmas, Dundee on Boxing day and Rangers on the 29th.
I'd plans to go to both since I'm home but today's announcement has ruined that.
Hopefully they bring the winter shutdown forward and push the games back to the end of Jan.

Thank you, it's appreciated. and I am quite proud of myself.
I have the great glasgow run (another half) to do next year as I'd paid for this years and they cancelled it and rolled everyone over to 2022. As my beloved said as soon as I finished "don't do what you usually do and give up now you've done it"
I'd like to do a full one but it'd take a fair bit of work to get up to, there's one in Stirling I might do, but I'm hesitating on the commitment.

Completely forgot to donate until the day of your run so I'm glad to see all our contributions got you to the target.

    This annoys me so much.
Not the fact that sent these messages, although I certainly don’t condone it, but that fact that I’ve heard people today saying ‘well it’s double standards isn’t it.’
Why does it matter? Why does it undermine the racial abuse he’s suffered? It doesn’t suddenly make that okay? Just cos everyone is racist, doesn’t suddenly make racism okay?
The whole idea of historically racist tweets and messages pisses me off too. Surely their must be some sort of statute of limitations. What one person writes when they’re 19 is not at all the same as what they think when they’re 30. And not at all the same as decades long institutional racism at all levels. At that point surely a heartfelt apology and genuine contrition is all that’s needed to draw a line under it.
that anyone would go to the effort of digging this out, at this time, with clearly the sole purpose of undermining what he’s saying, is deplorable. And for what purpose? To derail any investigation into racism?
Racism begets racism, just as bullies beget bullies. If you’re being picked on, if you’re in that environment where your basically being taught that it’s okay to pick on others who are weaker or in a minority, then you’re going to mimic that. If anything, these messages just prove what he was saying, that the cricketing environment he grew up in was endemically racist.
Im probably thinking about it too much though, it’s probably just a stupid message from a stupid kid trying to look cool in front of his stupid mates. Either way, certainly not something to crucify him over, and certainly not something that should detract from the key issue.
I’m just glad that social media didn’t exist when I was a 19 year old, who knows what stupid poo I would’ve posted back then.

CWC1983 reacted to angieram in I despise Children In Need
On Children in Need and philanthropy, giving.
There are many people who are distrustful of or embarrassed by accepting state aid, who can be reached by charitable organisations. I have worked with many organisations who have used CIN monies to make a real and lasting difference in people's lives. Some of these are people who have been failed by statutory services, whose approach wasn't right for them.
CIN administration and grantgiving is a lot more straightforward and recipient friendly than some other major funders (The National Lottery is a nightmare and has created a bureaucratic gravy train for a host of people, for example). By comparison, CIN is straightforward, flexible and user friendly.
There are many, many people who have given to charitable causes over hundreds of years. Schools, hospitals and most things we now take for granted as being state provided were not always there. Charitable organisations often pave the way for future state provision.
People who give feel good about giving and this is evidenced as one of the five ways to wellbeing.
Many people who raise money for CIN may not give in more traditional ways, but give because of the entertainment value, the celebrity they associate with, the chance to be on tele! This doesn't make it a bad thing, just a different thing.
Because celebrities use the available tax systems of the day to maximise their income, doesn't mean they aren't using or donating the monies they save for good. They may think they better know how to use it than the government! ?
There are many, many television channels and if you don't like CIN don't watch the BBC.
