  1. I spend the minutes before each game thinking … this is it .. this is the day where it all clicks and we give someone a hammering. There have been days when we have played well enough to do that but somehow the score never reflects it. Then there are other days when we look so clumsy and slow, all the “couldn’t trap a bag of cements and hit a bard door” clichees come rolling out. This has to be the most hot and cold DCFC team I have ever watched. League 1 isn’t terrible .. I’d rather we weren’t in it but it isn’t the football .. it’s the unforced errors, the lousy touches, the missed chances the iffy refs. … Come on lads … get us out of here !

Anyway, saw Roy Mac (the real one) in my local last night .. it’s a sign I tell ye, it’s a sign, COYR ! Don’t care about the line up, don’t care about the tactics … need to win this.

Wycombe are a horrible club ran by a horrible little man.

I award you tonight’s gold medal for stating the obvious 🤣 🏆

I want to do a Keegan “I’d love it if we beat them”

I’d also like DCC and Amber Valley to send all their collective potholes to that flipping car park .. They’ve earned it !

I don’t read many autobiographies. Which is surprising as I’m quite nosey 😂I’ve got Alan Rickman’s on my kindle though.

I must look for that ! One of my all time favourite modern actors. Died too young. I’ll never forget “Christmas is cancelled” he would have been a great Rams fan 🤣

  4. This team have played their hearts out. Sometimes we stuttered, sometimes we looked “off it”, then confused then “on it” and buzzing. We turn up and it’s hard to know how we are going to do. Unpredictable I suppose, but as a group they have done what I like and that’s play for each other as a real team, giving all of what they have to give.

For me … I want a Cashin header to seal it. That lad really does leave everything on the pitch including the mint sauce.

It would offer people like myself more optimism if we controlled matches. Not going to go down the Paul Warne pile on because he’s got us to 2nd playing Warneball. But there hasn’t been many matches this season were I’ve watched us and gone this will be easy.

Just as you slip in to a version of comfortable we go and poo the bed like we did against Northampton.

Of course I’d rather be in our shoes than Bolton/Posh’s but then again I’d rather be in Portsmouth’s shoes which is pretty much 1 win away from promotion.

I do think it will be a bad job if we can’t beat Wycombe with their cup final considered. But knowing Derby like we do, personally I can’t see us winning all 4 which does open the door. Which is were people’s worries like my own come in.

I think it is a reflection of the league and how very even it is across the competing teams. Apart from Pompey I doubt any team has felt comfortable across a series of games.

I don’t agree. At this point in the season the managers job is to make adjustments to accommodate injuries, continue to make tactical decisions based on the set up of the opposition and how individual games are panning out (yes I know some would question Warne’s ability in this respect but it’s still a job for him to do), and continue to maintain the spirit in the team by lifting them if we’ve had a poor game and keeping their feet on the ground if we’ve had a good one. I think this period of the season is just as important (if not more so) for all concerned: the management team, the players, and the fans.

I take your point; 👍 though from a motivational point of view I’d really hope the players all have enough now to carry themselves through considering the battles they’ve fought and the aroma of tangible success that might now be coming from the kitchen such that they can almost sense it if not touch it.

Doubtful with such a poor manager...

At this point the manager has little influence. This is about the spirit he has already built in the team over the last 12 months. Bar some in game tweaks, it’s the11 on the pitch, their personal strengths and perseverance that will get us over the line. It’s guts, effort and self belief (and 30k at PPS when they are wobbling )

Yeah, posting it in the matchday thread just as we secure a crucial point isn't obvious wumming at all.

    I'm serious.

You need to understand that Bris in his long and active career in the upper echelons of journalism and football (including a minor ( declared to the EFL) shareholding in Melchester Rovers when they were in the Champions league) qualifies him to run a football club with his unique insight in to tactics, management, finance, transfers and business management. Follow his lead and suggestions and we’ll be in Europe within 4 years. He doesn’t have opinions like the rest of us. He is a sage, a font of all wisdom, Fergy, Wenger Jose, hung on every word

Think Warnes had a stinker there and 2 points dropped. They didn't look like doing anything that second half. Their LB picked up an early yellow, should've pulled Collins for Wash and him and NML go at them down that wing. Sat back, left Collo on too long and inevitably they score

I want to call you a wum, but rather than something that ends up as a trade in insults ….in what sporting statistical or  scientific  language does the second team in a league, playing away at the top team in the league get a draw and you say the manager of the away team has had a “stinker” ?
You need a dictionary and some life experience. But perhaps you don’t have opposable thumbs and can’t turn the pages ? Apologies if this is the case

Collins is making a bit of a difference to the attack tonight

So happy to hear that. He got so much flack from so many places. .. think of the names he was called and the gibes that were circulating. None of his supporters said he was a genius but his detractors didn’t see the footballer he is and the sheer graft he brings along with his positional sense and instinct. Sure Gayle is a better striker but Collo is right now a 100% RAM

  11. If you win then the Championship is your oyster. We will have a nerve wracking seasons end

If we win Bolton have it all to do and we will be in touching distance.

Draw is probably good for all of us. We are short of fire power but football is a funny game. I have no prediction, no feeling how this will pan out but doubt there will be many goals

    Wishing you luck excluding tonight

Definition of a must not lose, a win would also drag Portsmouth back a little which would give them more impetus in the games against Bolton, etc.

A loss is more impactful than the three points tomorrow night as it means Portsmouth can afford to coast a little, especially the game coming up against Bolton.

I hadn’t thought about that. Ouch ! So….. We have to perform against Portsmouth to make sure they have to perform against Bolton. Psychologists and mind game devotees write your answers here.

Very disappointing (if predictable) results today with all three chasers winning. Lose at Portsmouth and automatic promotion is out of our hands. Sadly, with us scraping wins while Bolton bagged 5 each against Oxford and Reading, our goal difference can no longer be relied upon if the final points tally ends up being tied.

What does that mean for this game? Obviously we all want to win, but I expect we will set up as a "must not lose" game and be quite cautious. So one of the strikers (NML/CBT/Wash) drops our for a midfielder (who will probably be Hourihane). I expect it will be CBT who makes way. Warne would take a draw now, and I think so would I. Then we remain masters of our destiny with just 4 games to go.

Not sure it is ? Depends on the score and GD. They’d have to equal our points tally and achieve a better GD over the remaining games ? Unless I have missed something ? Even if we lose, Bolton still need to exceed what we do over what’s left ( I think🤣)

it’s destined to be 0-0 v Carlisle with 9 minutes injury time and needing a win to do it. Or the same for Bolton at 4-0 up but needing 1 more to do it on GD

    Football bloody hell

Or we take the Brian Clough approach of play to his strengths, ie give him the ball and let him do what he is good at, rather than him spend time doing what he is weaker at. It got the best out of Alan Hinton, and John McGovern - neither of whom were known for “Ebou Adams” like challenges. And no, this isn’t an attempt to compare Brian Clough and Paul Warne! Don’t even go there!

I vaguely remember Roy Keane saying what Clough said to him as a young player. “your job is to win the ball and then give it to our Nigel.”
