Oh Tish? I had to look that up and there’s a Jewish feast; a word meaning joy or gladness; a small amount; or excrement. Are you referring to the latter?

I will only admit to what a maths teacher at school once said, prior to O levels ( a very long time ago 🤣)

“I hope you have revised properly, otherwise you will be in a space occupied by the famous Samuel Henry Irvine Taylor”

I'm not forgetting that at all, it's pretty much the entire point.  Players aren't fungible, you can't just buy them at random and drop them in and have it work, so you need to think about who you're signing and why.  We've signed a *lot* of players this season, and quite a few of them have struggled to make an impact (IMO anyway), so maybe we should be thinking about the process to try and stop that from happening next season?  You'll never get it right all the time of course, but that shouldn't stop the club trying to improve.  Just because we're second in the table doesn't mean we should shut down all critical analysis of the club, as some posters seem to think.

Indeed, but considering where we were in squad terms, what we had available in money terms, who was/is actually for sale, I think we’ve done pretty well. Yes some predictable injuries, but we were aware of the possibility and tried to navigate round them .. the slow introduction of JJ for example. Sometimes these things work, sometimes they don’t, but sometimes these risks are taken because of the position we are in, not because of poor or ill judged recruitment.

I would suggest, considering where we were at and the money we have spent, that recruitment has been pretty reasonable if we look at the good, the not sure, and the “oh Tish”

On CBT .. I am undecided and am hoping it is just bedding in, missing sharpness, knowing his teammates and role. Time will tell but no rushed judgement from me.

Having checked, 8 of the 11 played in the Championship last year.  Ward and TJJ were both in League one, but had played in the Championship the season before.  Wilson played 5 games in the Championship for Bristol City last season, but has only really had regular football at League one or below.  So almost all of the signings have played recently at a higher level than we're at.

The post I was replying to was basically implying that most of the summer signings had made a good impact on the team, so the fact you're calling out Washington, Bradley, aren't impressed with Elder, and think the rest are bargain bin signings, suggests we aren't too far apart.

The issue for me is the whole transfer policy seems to be all over the place.  We know Warne wants to play gas-out, high-intensity football, so signing so many over-30s and players who had injuries last seasons seems questionable.  And then we have stuff like seeming to recruit for a back 3 over the summer, then immediately switching to a back 4.  And then signing an expensive winger in January before immediately switching back to playing wingbacks.  I'm not necessarily blaming Warne for everything, but there's clearly something going wrong somewhere in the process.  And given we're going to have a major rebuild in the summer, no matter what league we're in, that needs serious thought IMO.

Of course you are forgetting that the transfer market is just like Amazon prime. You just describe the player you want and up come hundreds of possible purchases at £4.99 with delivery included and free returns. … until you realise you haven’t got PayPal or a credit card.

We’re just getting him fully match fit for Cardiff next season. He’s had a tough time there with injuries keeping him out of all of last season so I’d be surprised to see Cardiff let us have him cheap, or even going rate. They’ll know how much we want him so unless we’re had over a barrel again, I can’t see this one happening

Harsh reality .. true. ……BUT. How long is his contract ? Does he like it here ? … The individuals have choices, he may be under contract but he’s not an indentured serf. Did anyone see him with Warne after last night. ? That wasn’t pretence. He’s loving it. I can see it happening.

  5. Not interested in any errors the card happy ref made. If we did come out on top in the luck stakes tonight then it’s the ebb and flow of a season. We’ve had our fair share of poor decisions. They didn’t all go our way either.

Enjoyed that. We ran the show apart from the last 20 when we dropped a bit deep and let them play hoof ball which made for some nervy moments. I was entertained, we upped the tempo for large chunks of the game with a huge uplift in neat fast one touch play. How many chances did we create ? We could have been 3 up at half time. Well done to the whole team. That was a maximum effort performance. Regardless of any decisions we were deserved winners by a considerable degree . Gayle’s movement must be a nightmare for defenders. Lovely run leading up to the peno so well spotted by Adams. (Who by the way will likely be staying given his joyful man hugs with Warne at the end of the game. )

Well, I'm buzzing, and I think I've got my mojo back after a bit of a mid-winter downer.
I see a handsome and comfortable win, and shouts of "I don't know what we were so nervous about".

I skipped home from the last home game.  I'm gonna bloody well skip TO this one.  You just see if I don't.

Come on, you big, fat, virile, wooley, behorned Rams!

    🐏

I’ve got a devil and an angel on either shoulder. Devil says we go all flat and Reading “manage” us in a meh game.

The angel says slick rams cut holes through them and it’s a great 3-0 and we’re going up 😎

it does sort of sun up this team

Aren't sure if Clement rates John Souttar another one that might be available next year great player when he is fit

Reads the game brilliantly has really good use of the ball can pass it around from out the back or pass it 25 yards into feet

Got a great footballing IQ teams might pass on him because of his injuries but when he is fit he is a rolls Royce would get into half the championship sides in my opinion and would make them better

We need a 2024 version of Joe Jordan … can you find one ?

seriously though, we need some youthful strong fire power. Most of our current squad will manage another year, even at Champ level but at the top end of the pitch we are very short. Waggy, Collo and Gayle. We will need newer aggressive legs to progress at champ level

Well we have served a lot of appalling performances against this lot on far to many occasions with much better players than we have currently so let’s hope everything turns positive UTR

Ok here goes ,, surprise surprise, I have a bit of a gripe/ concern today even after a win which I’m really pleased with but my issue is not this I don’t like warne style football or I much prefer liam style stuff , I’ve already said today that if I saw a flaw and fair stick to beat the manager with it’s the home results and yes I know we won today but I really was surprised we went in at 2-0 half time because I really thought here we go again after we went 1-0 up and I thought we were poor first half , ive not really been able to pin down where or why it’s been going wrong at home but it came to me very simply during that first half that warne and the staff really need to put a rocket up these players backsides at time and my concern is whether he is too nice a bloke to tear them a new one when needed , I realise I may be miles off the mark and it’s just guess work or gut feel on my part 🤷🏻‍♂️,

there’s so much anti warne that I’ve taken a look at what it was I liked about his sides when he first came and all the games I’ve really enjoyed where some just don’t like any ,, well here it is , when it’s right the gas’s out idea of warne and being super fit covering the ground is was all about pressing the poo out of teams , not giving them a second to breath on the ball and when we get the ball back and or get in front going for the opponents throat for 90 mins , we hunted in packs and by hell I really enjoyed that , for some reason we have lost or gone away from that , even the simple thing of our throw ins shows it clear as day , no bugger is moving ,demanding the ball and the thrower is left standing like a lemon and all too often launches a long 50/50 throw up the line ,

get back to the game style you like mr warne because plenty of us fans enjoy that , it’s gets us off our seats and right behind the team , for me game management is not about slowing it down and trying to play tika taka keep ball that just invites teams on to us and we start panicking and hitting loose passes , has warne lost his way a bit under criticism of not playing pretty pretty football? If so I hope he goes back to type for the rest of the season because if he does and gets the players fired up and back on it this squad will be top two

I am supportive of Warne, I like the way he is so open but you are right, there is a missing element in the coaching. The old as the hills pass, move, make yourself available doesn’t seem to have the priority I would like. In his defence, many of our players are seasoned pros and should be doing more of it instinctively but for some reason or another …don’t. If we do do the hunting in packs power play, effectively, it’s less important to be so aware, but then to an extent the “quality” of football does decline.

You're not counting the two clear chances that Garrity missed, one header just wide, one shot just wide? He might have missed another with a bit of head tennis off Bradley too.

But we deserved to win, just not as easy as it looked.

That means no shots on target, zilch zero . Not difficult under those circumstances to deserve a win. Oh and guess what, Sibs can play wing back. He’s a good footballer and adapted well today.

You’re damning by faint praise. None of us know where things will go, it may end up as a play off mud fight but regardless, we are second right now, second highest goal scorers, second tightest defence. Might be an idea if you looked to positives rather than waiting for the next poor result and thus prove whatever point it is you want to make.

At least games we didn’t win I was at least entertained and we had attempts on goal. Most game we were having 20 odd attempts at goal but just couldn’t score. Add to that season mcgoldrick scored most of our goals and he couldn’t use him he could have made a real difference to Roseniors short stint. Apart from the Lincoln game I enjoyed most of the games under Rosenior now I don’t enjoy games full stop apart from to say we won a game. A season ticket is a lot of money to go to games not for the omens but more of a chore to do so and this season and last I don’t get to Friday and think get in we have a game tomorrow but I will carry on going to game regardless as that’s what us Derby fans do

I liked Liam, so positive and wanted us to play better football but “entertained ?” No way. It was pedestrian sidey backwards over coached caution .. now maybe that was about player ability and not Liams fault ? but the same conclusions with a different style can be applied to Warne. There have been in equal measure some entertaining performances but some flipping dire ones …. like most of last night…... We are so inconsistent it’s painful. Yet on the day I know these lads have it, but we just don’t see it often enough. Is it age or coaching or just flawed old champ players and others who are well … just L1 ?

Serious Question.  Cashin was very good.  I just saw Bird passing back and side and losing his player on three occasions when he very slow off the mark.  What made him stand out. ?

Because he can control a ball, tried to link with Gayle and passed with at least a semblance of accuracy. Mind you it didn’t take much to stand out tonight

  13. First 20 mins ok, set piece and Cash goal, nice. Bird and Cash standout players … as for the rest of the game ?

Horrible horrible horrible. Head tennis, poor passing, the lack of basic ball control from so many players was embarrassing.

Silly mistakes lost us that .. but was Joe outside the box when he fouled their man ? I guess I  must have black and white glasses but he looked to be at least a foot outside his area at the moment it happened ? And their No 33 was a dirty cheating sod. However, none of that excuses the limited skills on show tonight. Need to get it sorted for Saturday. We are better than this.

    Just third division football, IMO.

I think you’re right. We get all techi about coaching, style, set up, philosophy whatever. Yet in the end so much more important is individual ability to consistently control the ball, pass accurately and anticipate situations. The level of those depends on what league you are in. We are where we are and play like it.

  15. 1 hour ago, MaltRam said:

    Well, bugger.

A poor game between two sides who barely mustered an attractive passage of play between them. Two soft goals from corners and a decent strike from a bloke given acres of space and all the time in the world to pick his spot.

A lot of huff and puff from us but so many flunked passes and moves stillborn through a lack of care.

Bolton did us a favour. Please, please let's get back to 433 on Tuesday.

I think that’s the point when everyone gets pro or anti Warne. .. The poor passes, the missed opportunities. Is that really a lousy manager or coaching ethic ? Or is it just ability mixed with a rough day ?

Anyway, tough game, got nothing, probably deserved a point, didn’t get one, neither did Bolton. That’s football. … need 3 next game. Not much else to say except Bradley has shed his whipping boy mantle, which poor effer is next I wonder ?

Why did you have to say that?
all really positive then a pointless dig

Yes, it probably was a dig. But so are the dire posts like January window debacle, or only scouting in Rotherham or abject failure to sign players or only signs ones that get crocked and all the mountain of spoil that comes from half a dozen posters who just can’t resist getting their JCB back hoe loaders out at soonest opportunity. It isn’t nice, probably not necessary but it is the Newtonian equal and opposite reaction.

Looking at some Stoke forums and pages, it seems like he might need a confidence boost. They say when he started there, he found the back of the net just about every game but was always pulled up for offside. They think that affected him hence his low goals per game return. Hopefully, he gets one go in off his arse 1st game and then starts to fly. Interesting to see if he's preferred over the now almost fit again Waggy.

It’s an interesting thing about aging strikers .. always looking for the half yard they haven’t got any longer, Collo, Benty and others I am sure, it just happens . Get caught offside not because they are daft, just hunters instincts I suppose

It could be worse. We could be talking about NML.

Fear not faithful Rams  - a little bit of “outside the box” management thinking and all will be tickety boo.

You knew about Dwight and you didn’t tell us .. spoil sport 🤪

  19. It’s crazy, I know so little about him but if he’s got a touch, which it seems he has, then he will thrive with us. Bird, NML, Nyambe and others in our team have the ability to think fast and play the unusual ball. We have lacked players that can read these things and get on a wave length. From what others have said DG might be the man. Let’s get him fit, sharp and in the fight asap.
