Well, we were looking at an ageing Billy Sharp and according to this Pigott, a player with no championship pedigree...perhaps the latter would be the Lester of two evils ?

Another memory I have from the Bury game is speaking to a lad who was a Spurs supporter and had come up from London to see Dave Mackay playing for us. Mackay suferred a head injury and had to be substituted. He said 'He's got a cut behind his ear' to me in his cockney accent which I was totally unfamiliar with and I heard 'He's got a cat behind his ear'. I spent ages trying to work out why Dave would have a cat behind his ear!

I think MM would accept a bid of 5m for sublet with some add ons with him being sub-letted back to us for the rest of the season....

We've now lost Duane Holmes & Mike Te Wierik
Curtis Davies is out injured, Marriott is out on loan & Rooney has hung up his boots
The 1st eleven, plus Roos, Forsyth, Bird, Lawrence, Sibley, Waghorn are good enough but it's a very thin line that we are treading if we get injuries particularly to centre back & conventional centre forward . We have emerging young talent but lacking experience
I'm guessing 2 loan players in before the deadline & please, no more transfers out

Yes, seems the love in for Max Lowe didn’t last too long, LB will be a much better player....

He’s already ahead of where Max Lowe was at his age. Max was a good all round player but his positional sense was always a major flaw and didnt improve enough for me.
Buchanan has much better positional sense, he has the occasional lapse but that is down to lack of experience not knowledge.
He has the ability to go on and make a good Prem level career for himself.

I would love it if McClaren came back but can't see it happening. If he did come back I don't think we'd go down as McClaren IMO 'fits' our club.

It's not what we think he would do, it is what he thinks he would do. According to a recent interview, he has been watching Derby a lot so must have a good idea of the set-up and its current failings. Which is a lot more than Rafa or Eddie Howe when a quick turnaround is essential.

To be fair, a decent league one player would probably be an upgrade on Rooney

I like the idea of Bielik and Holmes together in central midfield. Don’t think Shinnie is the answer at left back though.

Quick bump on this.  I've 3 recommendations to offer...
'Hotel Salvation' - An Indian film that is subtitled and probably way to languorous for most peoples' tastes but I absolutely loved it. No Bollywood silliness in sight. A whimsical and beautiful meditation on life and death without being in any way 'heavy'. A wonderful and remarkable film should you wish to see it.
    9/10 Asa Asanovic
For the sake of balance.... 'Fury' - a bleak, brutal and visceral account of tank battalion deep behind enemy lines towards of the second of world war II. Directed by David Ayer, it's not an easy watch by any stretch but it is as an honest and uncompromising depiction of the horrors of conventional warfare without lapsing into morality tales.
    7.5/10 Craig Bryson
Lastly, just watched 'The Green Mile' again. I've mostly stopped watching telly as, let's be honest, 90% of everything served up is utter dirge, but this tale of prison guards working death row in a US prison set in the 1930's is a thoroughly compelling movie, if something of an emotional rollercoaster. Suffice to say it gets me every time. If you've not seen it, please do. It's a wonderful story and not one you'll forget in a hurry.
    9.5/10 Charlie George

Mel's going to shock everyone just before midnight by signing Ulloa on loan till end of season with sn option to buy.
Which will be great until Ranieri gets sacked and the new manager wants him back and he goes on strike and misses penalties on purpose.

Hence the loan and then, most likely based on promotion, buy him if we decide he is worth it?
