I would think that PW is likely to replace Didzy, Davies, Stearman and Chester with 4 players capable of playing 90mins in every game this coming season. Those 4 signings will not increase the overall squad numbers but will increase the individual match day squad players available, when compared with last season.

Basically stop worrying about lack of signings & enjoy the weather, because next month is when things start to get going.

He provides more context to it for sure. People are keen to pick up on just that point, he explains he wants good people, who are also good footballers and will improve the team, wanting them to focus more on collective success rather than individual success. Take the Warne-isms out of it and that’s exactly what I would want in a team
    Edit - In fact here’s the quote;
On being linked to numerous players...
We've got to try and sign players that are good people and I get hammered for saying that but if they want to come and work for this great club, they have to be good people.
They have to be good footballers, good athletes and they have to buy into the way we play, the way we press and the energy we want from a team.
Also and this is a lot different to a lot of teams in our league - they have to be able to play in front of 30,000 people. If you're used to playing in front of 5,000 people every week and you're the big fish in a small pond - can you do it in front of 30,000 supporters?
We get linked to loads of players but we have to try and get them right because once you sign someone on a two or three year deal and you don't get it right, you are causing yourself problems.
We won't run a big squad, we might have around 20-22 players, so we have to try and get everything right.
I understand why we get linked to loads of players and I understand why it's frustrating for fans when we don't sign players but if we signed seven or eight players today - what are you going to do for the next few weeks and talk about? You might as well enjoy the next few weeks and all that pre-season brings with it!

I posted in another thread, in terms of creativity there is few better that we could chance upon this season that Rodrigues.
In terms of 'smart passes' per 90 - he averaged 2.83 per 90 minutes 45% accuracy. Kevin De Bruyne is the only player with a better rate per 90 than that in English football, yet he couldn't get anywhere close to that accuracy - 37.8% for him. It actually means that Rodrigues completed 1.27 per 90, with KDB at 1.17 per 90.
Smart passes are defined as: 'A creative and penetrative pass that attempts to break the opposition's defensive lines to gain a significant advantage in attack'.
None of our midfielders even came close to competitive in this regard, all of them were below average and quite frankly poor. No surprise for those that watched us this season. Mind numbing lack of vision and creativity at times.
How he would deal with the step up is anyone's guess but I feel like he would quite comfortably walk into our squad and be our most creative player and would at least try and force the issues - which is something we severely lacked last season.

Well im fine if he goes and fine if he stays .
But he does now have a walking stick .........we are derby county !! albeit in div 3  ( old style ) If we cant sign now 2 reasonable ( not collins type ) strikers good enough for this league we are in a sorry state now restrictions are somewhat lifted .
The meltdown that goes on should we sell one of our bang average academy products or a 35 year old about to retire striker is beyond ridiculous , if i were didzy and didnt need the money i would finish my career where i started aa nice ending that and we should be thankful for last season .
WE ARE DERBY in a piss poor league , we ought now with the money issues becoming better to walk this league this is now Warnes big big test .

All didzy will be is a back up striker a nice one at that but would you settle for that if you could play if fit at your first club ? .

By this logic, I assume you believe Cocu was our best manager of the last 20 years? Tactically what he was trying was far more advanced than anyone else- fluid positional rotation, utilising long periods of ball retention via slow build up to dominate games... how well overall did that work out for us?
It's a balance of finding a tactical setup that suits the players, whilst ensuring they're playing to their full individual potential through man management and psychology- Warne seems very big on the latter. Cocu underestimated the ability level of the squad and asked something unrealistic of them. Perhaps at this level, ensuring consistently solid individual performances goes further than trying to establish defined methods of play?
I love discussing tactics and football stats but with stuff like this I can't help come back to the Classic Clough quote:

Agree what I think what he maybe alluding too is that the best teams I think are tactically aware
When I was doing my own coaching badges I remember someone who had worked with Arsene Wenger saying that the best teams/players also adapt and work it out, hence why you rarely saw Wenger saying much during the game
Pep is totally unique to me and very different to anyone I've seen , I went to a City campions league  game with my lad who's at uni in Manchester and to be honest the movement, intelligence and hard work from up high in the stands  was quite awesome to watch
Yes they cost a lot of money but the hard work at 3-0 up was the same as 0-0 but players being intelligent enough and knowing the warning signs is also something that good coaching brings not just spending big money
Pep does get animated and kicks every ball so there is no blueprint in how to manage from the touchline but for me making players aware of there roles and the dangers as well as exploiting oppurtunities when they arise is too late sometimes to order from the touchline
You need the players to at least be aware of what to do in games then trust them to carry it out
I saw plenty of good oppurtunities last season going forward that we didn't exploit through bad decisions in the finall third or poor execution of the right decisions
We relied far too heavily on Didzy who was fantastic for us last season but he was also guilty on occasions of trying too much or not making the correct decisions in the final third and I believe some of that was because I think he thought without him we wre probably not likely to score many
A few more players need to be a threat , for me Bird , Sibley, Knight and Barks dont score enough we need 5-10 goals from players in there position to take the burden off of the strikers , then add 2 more potent forwards and all of a sudden we will go from nearly play offs to top 2 for me ......

I think it is fair to say over the course of the season Roberts improved and in my opinion would be a good pick up on a free.

Everybody raves about how good Knight, Sibley and Bird are and that we would struggle to keep them, they should have stood out last season in league one, yet all had mediocre seasons. I would get rid of any of them for the right money and allow Warne to go get the players he wants to build a promotion winning side.

Luton or Coventry please...anyone but Middlesbrough.
I'd like Luton to go up, I felt they were unfairly treated with a 30 point deduction, pretty much at the same time as West Ham fielded 2 ineligible players and only received a fine.
Luton almost went out of business and were non-league for a bit. What a story if they climb all the way to the Prem.

Had to be done. Curtis playing in the Championship finale against Wednesday, signing the waiver to do his bit, really demonstrated his commitment. Such an eloquent spokesman for the club, and always a great listen if lucky enough to be in hospitality when he's there.
And here he is on Wembley Way, discarded by Lampard but supporting the team and bonding with fans before the Villa game.

Shout out to Richard Stearman too, who I feel knew his role and played it very well, never letting us down.

At last we have the chance to play on a level field!
With respect please could the EFL:-
Implement points reductions when appropriate rather than delay for 9 months.
Ensure that refs are conversant with rules governing yellow and red cards and what constitutes a penalty. Adopt an  even handed and impartial approach which does not favour certain teams at the expense of others.

I’ve just seen on Twitter that we had the second highest amount of xG (expected goals) this season. I’m not a massive fan of that stat, but in reality we finished 7th top in the scoring list. All of those above us, except Bolton, scored more than us, as well as Charlton.
It’s clear to see where our problems lie. We just didn’t convert enough of our chances. The stats suggest we created more than enough, but for some reason, couldn’t finish it off. Plymouth finished with the second highest number of goals, 15 more than us. Imagine how different things could have been if we had scored 15 more goals, and how many more points we could’ve gained.
Now that the restrictions have been lifted, we really have an opportunity to recruit properly. If we get it right, we can add more goals throughout the squad. More energy will keep us on top for longer, create more pressure and bring more goals. It will negate the need to sit back and incite pressure when we tire, allowing teams back into games, and we’ll pick up a lot more positive results.
Obviously it’s far too early to say, we don’t know how the window will go and we don’t know all the teams in our division. But when you look at the potential for Warne to build a squad to suit him, and also the fact that League 1 appears as if it’ll be a fair bit weaker next season, we really do have a big opportunity of missing out on the play-offs again, but this time in a positive way.

Quite appropriate really that at the death our season has been decided by poor officiating (and that’s not to mention Barnsley should’ve had 2 penalties against Peterborough). We can go back to many big moments, Barnsley, Plymouth (twice), Ipswich, Peterborough, Ipswich, Port Vale (H), today, poor decisions at critical points in games, there have been lots of others, it doesn’t even itself out. But hey it’s a game of stats to some people!!!

I know we’ve heard it all before but we didn’t start recruiting until 1 week after preseason started, we only had 5 players, we have the smallest squad in the league, a mix of predominantly kids starting their careers and over 30s. No different options to change things when it’s not happening for us, can’t really rotate, January window made impossible with restrictions we’re under. This is why we didn’t quite have enough against better teams in the league away from home, this is why we didn’t win games we should have done against MK and Portsmouth, this is why ultimately we’ve fallen short. Had we got in the playoffs we have match winners, we would’ve had a chance, think Wednesday will be very glad they are not playing us next week!!

Thought we were excellent today and had we kept 11 on the pitch and not gone behind to that ridiculous decision we’d have got the job done. Can’t fault any of the players or Warne for how he approached the game. Lots of positive performances, im gutted for Curtis, it’s devastating for his career at Derby to potentially end like that. Unfortunately though he’s made that exact same mistake on a few occasions now and cost us goals.

It’s a real tough one to take today. But credit to the players and Warne and his staff for putting us in the situation to fight for playoffs on the last day. Derby and Warne HAVE NOT FAILED this season, I’d say this season is about par, next season is a different ball game. Despite our restrictions a whole preseason and recruitment prior to preseason with a settled management, promotion is the minimum requirement next season.

Well what can I say ... firstly I am a donut and thought the game kicked off at 3pm so missed it! Have read through all the comments and was interested to see the penalty, geez it is never a penalty, the guy went down like he was shot, Cashin was covering and the guy didnt have the ball at his feet.... what a con job! Anyway this isn't the point, we didn't miss the play offs today; we didn't make it due to our inability to be streetwise to the shthouse tactics by other teams (soft penos, time wasting etc), not converting numerous chances and by not getting a 2nd striker in January (not through want of trying).
Anyway guys & gals it has been an up & down ride this season, overall I have had more enjoyment than not & I am looking forward to next year, hope you will all join me again here.

I accepted there was a high possibility of league 1 after Feb 1st and I don’t really mind it’ll be the case next year. Also if we had deserved that play off spot we had more than ample opportunities to secure it before today. It’s where our squad was at the end of the day, too many players over 30 and under 23 and Warne remarked about it on the first day he stepped in to Pride Park.
What stings is the nature of the loss today. An attacking player takes an easy way out with minimal. contact, through on goal and should never ever be rewarded for it. It was a gift, not just to Wednesday who could game manage and far less than 100% and a gift to Peterborough
Not complaining about where we are. It’s just the nature of how it happened.

it was always going to be a long road building our club back to competing for promotion to the prem like we were before smell Morris ,
the hardcore will be at pride park next season getting behind derby and hopefully the EFL will have relaxed they’re destroy derby plan , I hope warne is given time to build as he is a decent manager and in my view has the attitude that sits well with what I want managing our club along with clowes they can bring back the vibe we had when young nige rebuilt us and Mac to it forward
