In the end Mel's demise was triggered by Frank Lampard throwing the play-off final so he could go to Chelsea. And then kept us dangling on a string all summer until the transfer window was already swinging shut. If we had won that match, which we could and should have done, we would have walked away from all the financial limitations, just as Villa did to some degree. Whether Mel would have stopped his dodgy activities or not we will never know, but we should have had the chance.

That would have been the absolute worst thing to do.
no league = no academy status = losing the best young talent to other academies for nothing.
great thinking from you there.

I thought they were put in the west stand and the south stand was closed for that match.

tinman reacted to Tamworthram in Genuine question. Am I being a prude???
I’ve mentioned this before and, whilst I know it makes no sense, it feels as is there is a subtle difference between a crowd of people at the other end of stadium singing a song and an individual sitting near by shouting out some obscenity.
I agree, if you takes kids to a football match you can’t prevent them hearing such songs but you should reasonably expect those sitting in the family area showing a little more restraint.

I disagree. This seems one of the (many) times when Derby players improve once they're out of the team. My take is we'd quite possibly have had a better midfield this season without Bird and Hourihane. When Smith played in Bird's position we seemed better. If we kept the same formation but played White there, there's a possibility we'd be better. I would love these midfielders we think are talented to have dominated the league this year, but they simply haven't, which is why I think there's a better balance and combination to be found from Bird, Hourihane, Knight, Smith, Sibley, White, Rooney than has been selected so far.

Don't you have to have no recognised keeper in the squad before you're allowed a loan outside the window? I din't think you could get one on the basis "that back up is a bit rubbish"?

Correct, it isn`t a guitar lesson, its a group who claim to have the best interests of DCFC at heart, which in itself is fine, and something that I`m sure 99%-100% of DCFC supporters want. However, it seems, that unless you agree completely with their mantra, and have a certain political viewpoint, you wont be welcome.
This surely is bordering on authoritarian and discriminatory?
Up to them obviously if they want to make it like that, but equally they cant complain when sections of supporters criticise?

I'll give you Baningime (we barely saw him, but perhaps for good reason), however Mengi was more than decent - just very injury prone unfortunately. He is streets ahead of Edmunson, for example.

He’s played really well there, and improving every week. He’s actually turning out to be a good balance of defensive capability plus attacking threat. I think he’ll see the season out there if he carries on as he is.

It helps when songs are sung that everyone will join in with. Not everyone wants to sing about Collymore's broken leg, players having large penises or references to fighting.
