That would be some from Burnley then? That's close to Preston. I think Mr Maguire is spot on when it comes to accounting, maybe he should stick to that??

“Sources close to Preston, and I’ll go no further than that”

He’s not going to Blackpool, then.  ?

I think without getting into the nitty gritty of his incoming and outgoings, seeing a gross profit within the public domain that would equate to the management of accrued debt and the covering of some nice loan fees and free transfer wages for at least 15 players going forward would help everyone relax about us not being in the same scenario in 2 years.

I'll get the answer if we get more points deducted to be honest.

If we get more points deducted it means he’s got the club at the lowest price possible, it doesn’t mean he hasn’t got the means to fund a rebuild program, it might even mean he’s got more to spend on rebuilding because some of the money hasn’t been spent on paying off MM’s debts.

So his bid to take over PNE was unsuccessful? So the question is why? Something must have gone wrong..What? That's what's worrying me. To me all this  excitement over this guy taking over the club is very reminiscent of when it was the dodgy Arabs supposed to be coming in.And we all know how that ended.

He made a bid which gave him exclusivity, when he looked more deeply into the club he lowered his bid, what does that tell you?

Its OK saying he’s getting the stadium, but how much does that need spending on it to get it to the same state as PPS?

How much would their training ground need spending on it to get it up to Cat 1

What’s the difference in potential fan bases when they’ve got the two Manchester and Liverpool clubs just down the road?

Buying a business is not (just) about asset values, it's about revenue potential. Derby County's biggest attraction is the 'brand loyalty' of its fanbase as that is what the owner will be looking to monetise.

Although the cost of running a club to satisfy that fan base is greater than the income the fan base generates.

If the council buy the stadium and gain an asset how much is the club worth to an investor? Only minimal assets, goodwill, heritage & potential. Against that huge debts to settle. In other words, without the stadium how much is the club worth?

    We’re in negative equity.

The debts that need paying to even carry on in the league, we’d need to contract 25 or so players, on the plus side we have 5 saleable players who would fetch maybe 10-12 million (as a desperate seller), and a fan base that doesn’t cover the outgoings going forward.

I guess without the stadium thrown in we’re worthless.

All the above makes sense, But, Why would anyone buy a Football Club that doesn't own the Stadium, They're buying debt, With very little assets, A few players in contract, Not 100% sure what Moor Farm entails ie lease or ownership, A team that could be either in league 1 or worse liquidated.

This is the biggest mess since a lorry load of trifle crashed on the M1 causing huge jams

Wasn’t it a lorry load of strawberries that caused the jams?

Not so, we could still be sold kicked out of the EFL and hopefully the FA would have us placed in the conference - without a point deduction as well

Why would anyone buy us with all that debt and no league membership when they could pick up the pieces without paying the football debts or HMRC?

That Boro article further up the fred stated that in 2019 the Riverside Stadium costs £8.9M per year to run. PPS must be similar or even more (as we've got running water inside our stadium).  Makes the lease quite expensive and a liability.

Also, if MA does come back in with an offer, will all council tax payers be happy to financially support a billionaire?

If they buy the stadium, or even get given it, they would still have those running costs.

After all that’s happened with Mad Mel I’d prefer the stadium in the hands of the community anyway, it won’t be so messy then the next time we go bust.

I can see some objection and outcry if that`s true. Council cutting services due to underfunding etc etc

I’m not sure that’s true, most people in Derby/Derbyshire will realise the benefit to the county in keeping the football club going, and securing the stadium so it can’t be used like this again.

It would be more benefit than building a velodrome, how much did that cost?

Yes my point was again its not within Quantumas gift to compel a third party to make a formal bid for the club. So Quantuma really are passengers in all of this.

The only way to make the club more attractive is for Morris to chuck in the ground for a nominal amount in the deal. Which again is naff all to do with Quantuma.

I guess the only way then is to say that time is running out.

With the time frame now, whoever becomes PB will have to keep the club running until the takeover is complete.

    Another complicated complication.

  11. 1 minute ago, Tyler Durden said:

How exactly are Quantuma going to be able to make an interested party submit a formal offer for the club nevermind compel the same party to make that bid sufficient to satisfy the EFLs creditors requirements?

I don't see what leverage Quantuma have at all. Its out of their hands. We're now totally reliant on buyers thinking it's a good enough punt to spend their money on, Quantuma can't polish the turd which Morris left them to deal with.

Because if whoever is bidding for the club is not offering enough to pay football creditors and HMRC, so not satisfying the EFL to keep the league membership, then the bid is effectively worthless. They may as well wait and start up a new company and buy the name and history.

How are Q arriving at what they think is fair price for the club?

They’re not, as has been said many times, their job is to try and get the best deal for the creditors, which means selling it for the highest price possible.

But there is a minimum limit, set by the EFL, who won’t allow us to stay in the league without paying 100% to football creditors, a percentage that HMRC will accept, and a percentage to all other creditors, so they will have an absolute minimum figure that if a buyer isn’t prepare to pay then the club will be kicked out the league.

The second limit is the other creditors, which if the buyer doesn’t meet we get a points deduction next season, which isn’t quite as bad as liquidation, but makes it harder for us to recover, which in turn makes it less attractive for potential buyers, which in turn forces the value of the club down (a catch 22).

So according to the latest quantuma statement no buyer has so far come forward with a high enough bid to satisfy the first limit.

I think you’re right .. but as a vanity project you’d have some difficulty playing “the big I Am”  When your new status symbol club is starting next season at the bottom of the table and faces a huge fight to even stay in the 3rd tier.

Perhaps Don Amott might rename Micklover sports, do a rental deal with Mel on PPS and we start again. It isn’t so ridiculous, sad though it is that we are in this position. I know it sounds daft but Saturday is my big day out. You go to a cathedral of the game. It’s the sense of an event. I’ve been to smaller grounds but somewhere like The Impact Arena is just to much of a struggle for even my most happy clappy instincts. We need a theatre worthy of the name of our great club. It might take a while to fill it but if it’s there then the players and the fans can make that happen together.

I was wondering if Don Amott would be considering that is well, it’s an opportunity for them to boost their fan base considerably.

They’d have to change colours though.

No matter what the various scenarios are, it is hard to see how liquidation could possibly be a good out come for any of the main players.

1 MM will lose a fortune

2 HMRC will lose a fortune

3 MSD will be left owning a stadium/training ground with no Tennant.

4 Other creditors lose a fortune

5 EFL reputation as a governing body further destroyed

6 Football as a whole loses DCFC, a founder member, likely to hasten structural change even to the PL whether they like it or not.

There is not an outcome for any stakeholder that is worse than liquidation, so for this reason alone, I have hope.

1 MM will say he lost more than enough chasing the dream

2 HMRC will say they’ve made an example of us to discourage other clubs thinking they can get away with it.

3 MSD will write it off as a bad loss

4 Administrators will say it was an impossible situation.

5 EFL will say they gave us enough time

6 Football as a whole will mourn for ten minutes before fixating on another headline, an England player being booed or something     equally trivial.

7 We’ll be devastated but nobody will give a poo until it happens to them.

It would be a big reduction but, I’d like to think we’d get more than just a couple of thousand. (Macclesfield get 2-3000 in the North West Counties league). Provided it was affordable, it would be worth putting up with. Personally, I think a Phoenix club playing outside of Derby would see a much bigger drop in attendances than one remaining at what is now “our ground”. Staying at PP maintains that link with the old club IMO.

If a Derby county team were able to stay at PP, I’d definitely still turn up and renew my season ticket. I’m not sure if I would if the Phoenix club played at some of the grounds mentioned (Stoke, Port Vale, Leicester, Notts County or Chesterfield. I probably would if they played at Burton but, only to my shame, because it would be convenient). I suspect I may not be alone.

    Good points.
