ollycutts1982 Posted yesterday at 07:12 Share Posted yesterday at 07:12 Seth for me, signed for us, went for a good sum to Leeds, nearly bankrupted them, came back to us for free and got us promoted. Macintosh Posted yesterday at 11:50 Share Posted yesterday at 11:50 John 'Jack' Nicholas. Signed from Swansea in 1926. Only skipper to have lifted the cup, managed the team in the war years and as a caretaker manager in the 1950s. 21 years with us as a player, 31 in total. Our chief scout until 1957. His dad was also a star player here for seven years before the First World War. If not him, then John 'Jack' Bowers from Scunthorpe, 167 goals in 203 games in the First Division. Then after the war was a trainer here for 20 years. 16 hat-tricks, 37 goals in 33 games in one season. Scored a run of 15 in six matches. A bad knee injury against Spurs allowed him to score 30 goals for the reserves to win the Central League before moving to Leicester (52 goals in 79 games). Seen here carrying Jack Nicholas. His son, John Bowers, played for us from 1957 to 1966 until the Clough cull of part-time players when he worked at the Derby Evening Telegraph. JuanFloEvraTheCocu'sNesta Posted yesterday at 15:18 Share Posted yesterday at 15:18 There have been so many players in my lifetime, but the one that really stands out to me as a signing that just made sense at the time and worked out perfectly is Przemysław Kaźmierczak. In his first three season he bagged 61 goals, set another 29 up, first touch was a joke, could hold up play, could link play up, intelligent, could speed play up with his flicks, won free-kicks to relieve pressure - unbelievable really. And people still moaned because he wasn’t quick or a work horse! Absolutely. Easy to look past because the Martin discourse has become a running joke, but he was one hell of a signing. Probably our best striker since the turn of the century. A key man in an iconic team. Not to mention the mini revival under Cocu, which very few people saw coming. Didn't pay a penny for him either! angieram and Steve How Hard? 1

Addingham Ram Posted yesterday at 16:49 Share Posted yesterday at 16:49 Not a single mention for the great Bobby Davison. My absolute idol growing up watching the Rams. 91 goals in 216 appearances over 2 spells was some effort. Broke my heart though when signed for the Dirties! Chopper Posted yesterday at 20:19 Share Posted yesterday at 20:19 I'm a touch young to appreciate the signings pre Cox in person, so I'd say for me Stimac. Relative to some other signings at the time he was expensive, but I feel he elevated us to a Premier club, and raised the profile to a point where other fantastic signings became more likely. Loved Asa, and genuinely believe that no Stimac, no Asa. Raich Carter
ramit Posted yesterday at 20:26 Share Posted yesterday at 20:26 (edited) So many great players have signed for Derby County but for me, there can be only one, the greatest technical midfielder we have ever been blessed with, an in his prime, the amazing, tip toeing, couldn't get the ball off him, dead ball specialist marvel that was Aljoša Asanović Edited yesterday at 20:27 by ramit making it fit in two lines for effect Raich Carter
