DERBY COUNTY WERE AT A HUGE DISADVANTAGE TODAY

Sheffield United were relegated at the end of last season so for four years they will receive £40,000,000 a year minimum from the Premiership. So they have been able to afford to keep some of their stars and can also afford to sign on new ones from other clubs.

Derby on the other hand now have as an owner David Clowes who wisely is determined his club should not get into debt again. The only reason we have had a bit to spend this year is that we have received some £3,000,000 after selling some good players years ago and having a clause in their contract saying we we would be entitled to a percentage of their resale price. Those resales happened during the last close season.

But that money is peanuts compared with the cash now available to Sheffield United! So in fact our manager has done an amazing job to put together a team that can compete in the Championship with so little money at his disposal. Even today we were only beaten by one amazing strike by one of their stars.

So we should be congratulating our Manager not criticising him as some have been doing on here tonight!

We didn’t have a single shot on goal all game today which tends to lead to people being a bit frustrated with the manager and his tactics.

Good day out & whilst disappointed with the result, can hardly be too down about it. Kiefer Moore/Hamer/O'Hare would absolutely walk into our team & most of Champ...we gave them a good game (particularly first half) & their winner was from a free kick that clearly wasnt a foul as their lad dived. Dreadful ref btw

Thought we created little second half in response but always tried to play (Yates on throughour) & loved the fight all game esp from Ebou. We are where we are..onto Norwich  up the Rams 💪🖤

It is not the managers tactics its our lack of a strike force. We were not able to compete for the few decent strikers available so it's the Jan window to scrap fir the few gems up for grabs.lts not rocket science we cannot compete with the wealthy clubs unless new investment is secured it's simple business.

Under the circumstances we are doing OK.

A decent first half showing, second half was tough, but we never gave in, Adams was everywhere putting challenges in, and never stopped all game, my motm today, we lost to a great strike, gave them very little, for me we are no pushovers and will stay up no probs , onto Norwich now, lets get 4 home wins on the bounce and back the team from start to finish, home form will be so important this season. Once A Ram Always A Ram.

I have seen DCFC make good solid solid starts before then flounder. We will need to get something next week, to get our heads up again.

Losing to a lower prem squad is no disgrace, what is irritating is they were not that great, despite all the money spent.

Wilder is rapidly becoming the manager everyone hates, even his home crowd, who were very agitated by their lack of game control against a side just promoted from L1.

PP is a fortress at the moment, the crowd has a big part in that, so lets lift these tired legs next week on to victory.

We have about 15 fans that are Obsessed with Billy Sharpe . They never let up the whole game . Won’t join in with the main group with the supportive chanting . They can’t wait for the Utd home game now .

This is what I don't understand. You know who they are. I know who they are. Anyone who goes to away games regularly know who they are but the Derby stewards, who travel away as well as home, do absolutely nothing about the bellends who follow us and make life miserable for the rest of us.

Our passing was off today , in large part that was down to the pressure they put on us , they pressed and closed us down well in our half , no shame as it was a narrow 1-0 loss to a fantastically struck free kick from a player we couldn’t afford to buy his left arm , I hate us losing games but in our position just now it’s gonna happen , all that matters is going enough points to stay up and I saw nothing from that game that makes me feel we are not capable of that ,

norwich next week and let’s hope the M1 is better🤷🏻‍♂️

That counts as a shot OFF target . Did feel for Yates yesterday- lone figure up front , no support and no quality passes to his feet or in space .

Yes that’s the trouble with stats- they don’t reflect what has really happened. You could have stats which show three shots on target (which could have been soft attempts easily saved) yet five shots which hit the woodwork. Same for possession where one side has 69% possession made up of mostly close passing sideways, backwards etc with no real goal threat, yet the other side with 31% used their possession well and were the better side. Too many people are obsessed with statistics. As a former civil servant who worked for a few years on policy, I an well aware of how stats, although true, can be used to show anything you want

There were a large number singing that Billy Sharp was a sex offender in the queue outside the ground. They weren’t hidden in a crowd and could be identified - I didn’t recognise any of them. I saw a perfectly reasonable Blades fan plead with the police to take some action and they wouldn’t, much to his disgust.

A few banning orders or prison sentences could sort it but “the authorities” don’t seem bothered.

Maybe 25 years ago, I confronted and reported a fellow fan for hurling racist abuse and the club were on it in a flash, having been provided with a seat number.

Ideally, you don’t want to put yourselves in harm’s way by confronting people but maybe a complaint to the club with a seat number could work.

Has a Derby away steward ever done anything?
