Derby vs Port Vale

Really important night for us tomorrow. Firstly because we need to start showing some consistency in results. I didn’t think we played very well on Saturday, but in the end we beat a side who were in good form. There’s no point then following that up with a poor result against a worse side who are in poor form.

On top of that, the other fixtures include Oxford v Bolton and Stevenage v Peterborough. Four of the five teams above us play each other, so we’re guaranteed to make ground on at least two of the 5 if we win.

Hopefully we end the night a bit closer to the top 2 and use that confidence to finally push on.

We need a fast start. Too often away from home we adopt a shape and allow the opposition to play.

I’d like to see us get in their faces, give a few fouls away, but don’t let them settle.

There’s no reason why geography should change our game. Let NML and Wilson try their tricks and let’s get more than one person in the box.

A passive approach will cost us.

Vamos ramos!

Picked up a knock. Best to rest him so he's fit for the weekend

Warne made it sound like it was a knock to the head and he had a little vision issue. So either he's absolutely fine or he's concussed. Resting wouldn't really do anything, it's not a muscle injury or anything.

Technically, if it was actually concussion then he will need rest. As per the FA's guidelines, players are advised to rest for at least 48 hours (physical and cognitive) and then ease back gradually. This would mean he would only return to training tomorrow. They also include minimum time periods for the stages of reintroduction to playing matches following concussion:
Stage 1 - rest for 48 hours
Stage 2 - light exercise for 24 hours
Stage 3 - football specific exercise for 24 hours
Stage 4 - non-contact training for 24 hours
Stage 5 - full contact training for 24 hours
Stage 6 - return to play

Yeah, so he will just be out the game injured. Not just being rested.

3 changes for me with Forsyth coming in at left back, Fornah for Smith & Wilson for Bird with Sibley in the 10.

No game at the weekend so the lads need to leave it all on the pitch, tomorrow night could be a big result with a win and the other fixtures between teams above us.

No win in 10 for Port Vale though in the league so lets hope its not yet another stat we help a team to stop.

Get a fast start & an early goal and we could make it a comfortable night for ourselves.

Nyambe.    Nelson.    Cashin.   Forsyth

Ward.      Bird.     Fornah.    Barkhuizen

                         Sibley

                       Waghorn

Play Sibley in his best position and reap the rewards.

Bring on NML in the second half when their players are getting tired.

Rest some older ones, two games in three days. 3 points in the bag.

spot on for me

I couldn’t get tickets for Tuesday night - shame. I went last season and we were typical Derby - unimpressive against a team we should have been beating, and inevitably we went behind. The support remained great and went absolutely bananas in the last few minutes! Probably the best away experience for years!

It would be great to have that last 5 minutes’ experience for the full 90, but it ain’t likely to happen. But guys, we can beat them, and we can do good support because we are good at that.

But if you want to eat, get your grub before you get to the ground because on-site catering is a bit meh!! The food may be fancy but they have no idea how to cater for a sell-out crowd. And the chippy near the ground closes at 9pm!!!

Enjoy!

Last season, the excellent Bursley Ale House, just off the Market Place in Burslem, was selling basic burgers and hotdogs from their beer garden at the front of the pub. All the pubs round the Market Place were welcoming and served good beer.
