Would have been the perfect manager for us. Plays good football, has a reputation for developing youth, promotes good character, has ten ti mes the tactical knowledge of Warne and has shown that he knows what it takes to lead a 'fallen giant' out of league one without massive compromises to the above. He might play good football, but don't you think he is too old, even to play for Derby? SKRam

McMuffin
You couldn’t make it up. All these last minute panic signing with recent history records all injured and now we are paying for him and he will never play for us again. Well done 👏 recruitment team once again bravo

Well done 👏 recruitment team once again bravo Might be a little harsh and I'm not sure they were all "last minute panic signing"s - the John-Jules one had apparently been a while going through, likewise Fornah on his permanent deal. This one would appear on course to be one of Derby's least remarkable signings. He came, he looked pretty miserable, showed a little promise, then went home a few months early with his wages covered. Unfortunate but I don't blame the recruitment team - at least no more than I would have re George Thorne (and I don't remember complaining when we signed him on a permanent deal!) You've moved on from giving Max Bird the big stick to the recruitment team so watch out Mr Clowes, it might be your turn next.

Well if the recruitment team did a good job then max Bird wouldn’t get near the first team. Then we would probably have a chance of actually going up and not falling behind the likes of Exeter Stevenage and port vale in the league

Seriously, how good is it possible for a League One recruitment team to be, or do you really rate Max Bird that low? Aren't we on game 9 this weekend? Fair play to the 3 clubs you mentioned but if more than one of them is in the top half come the end of the season I will be very surprised. Don't players who are returning from long-term injuries have high risk of getting other niggly injuries whilst trying to get fit? This is big niggly mind. It's probably between him and Cashin. Not sure what your issue is with him, but we're lucky to have him at this level. StarterForTen
As he’s gone back to Sunderland for recuperation, does that mean we now have space in our treatment room to sign Andros Townsend?
i-Ram
Bad luck for the lad but as McMuffin suggests, we did buy or loan a number of players returning from injuries. What we have got out of Wilson, John Jules, Embleton, Washington and Bradley doesn’t amount to a great deal at this point.

Not sure what your issue is with him, but we're lucky to have him at this level. He has ability, more ability than most players in his position certainly in this league. Issue is he should be doing more with it. He doesn’t score or assist or isn’t that effective in the final third. He doesn't win the ball, gets outmuscled and rarely wins a 50/50. Yes he can play a sideways pass but he has the ability to be more effective. 1 in 10 games he’ll drop an 8/10 performance but then he doesn’t build on it. With his ability he should be dominating midfields in this division but don’t he? Does he heck. Doesn’t take responsibility. Is it a character thing? Lacking in desire I’ve never got it with Bird. Nothing anyone will say will ever change my mind. He can of course if he ups his game to become the player he can be. But this is a terrible league and if he’s as good as many think he is and many like me know he can be a lot better but the problem is our midfield are regularly out fought and out passed with Bird in particular passive too often. Hourihane is similar in some ways but CH at least offers more in the final 3rd and certainly in terms of goals/assists. Houihane has a good career and held his own in the prem but his legs have gone. Bird is 23 approaching his prime years. He should be showing a lot more not getting dominated in this league losing tackles not making anything happen!
