If Collins could keep the ball a yard closer to himself when trying to control it would help drastically.

If he could do that, it may go some way to solving one of his many problems.

If he could then work on his work rate, his pace, his discipline, his dribbling ability and his fitness then we might have a half decent player.

Unfortunately all of those attributes are below par for this league, even for a one-dimensional player such as him. He has scored quite an amazing amount of goals all things considered, despite himself, not because of his ability

Nice constructive conversation there. Neither Martin or Collins are very mobile. Martin has a good touch and can finish, so his hold up play would be an improvement on Collins, but would he be able to press from the front? I’m not sure he would. I’m not against Chris Martin as a player, it’s just in my opinion we need a different sort of striker to come into the squad alongside Collins and McGoldrick.
A more mobile presence up front who also had a good touch would help this team more. If we were going to go back in for any former Rams striker I’d want it to be Vydra, but given he’s been out injured for a year and left a prem club he’s probably out of our reach.

Collins has done absolutely nothing this game and very little since he stupidly got himself sent off. Press from the front? ?

Your opinion on how Martin can play is based on how he played for us. But anyway the point is really how awful Collins is.

So he scores over 170 goals despite himself - hilarious! Not on it so far this evening granted but really?

Brave man to criticise Collins’ work rate. You’re right about the rest of course

And yet we’re ahead on the possession stats? Not looking after the ball doesn’t equate to being outclassed, but we are being given a stern test for sure.

I said the first 10, not now. We’ve been a lot better since conceding, helped by West Ham sitting back of course.

All round a pretty decent showing. Certainly not embarrassed ourselves so far, just that difference in quality showing.

From a control point of view we did decent against a Prem league side and still very much in the tie. The disappointments are 2-3 chances from CH to put some pressure on  (when we haven't created much) and poor delivery. Davies looks like the age he is tonight in so far as Antonio looks like he has the beating of him all night if he wants it. Collins trying hard as usual but his quality is every bit league one bench player. Just hope we can get some shots on goal 2nd half to lift the crowd as all pretty flat with no real efforts on goal.
