You do have to wonder at the wisdom of having 3 defenders on the bench. One of Oduroh/Smith and Forsyth give you positional coverage over the entire back 4, and in a real emergency you can drop one of the midfielders or wingers back. We're much more likely to want fresh legs in midfield and up front than a 3rd replacement defender.

My lad has started a job there so was down at the weekend, albeit travelling from Doncaster. 2 hours 50 mins…… suspect similar from Derby It's still one of the three most expensive journeys to make on the train and top 6 for time spent on the train getting there. Also top 3 or 4 for driving instead.

My thoughts were we need our forwards options so McGoldrick and Stretton are a must if both fit. Then we have 2 new midfield options here as Knight can move there as well as bringing Smith on. But for a tough away game at The Valley we should have defensive coverage across the back 4 and if we're winning with time running out may very well want to bring on another centre half and close the game out. It's interesting that we didn't actually do that against Oxford. We had subs to spare and Stearman on the bench, but we bought Thompson on for NML to give us an extra body in the middle, rather than an extra one at the back. Obviously it may have been situational (Oxford weren't exactly pumping long balls into the box), but if that's a genuine change in strategy between Rosenior and Rooney, then having a genuine centre half on the bench (as opposed to Forsyth as a utility player to play there in case of injury), is much less useful. You aren't really swapping centre halves during a game for any reason other than injury, especially when all four of our main centre halves are quite similar (they're basically all big, strong, decent in the air, but a bit slow). He’s incredibly mature, especially compared to somebody like Jesse Lingard who for a 29-year-old still sounds and acts like a prepubescent teen. Jason Knight will have a good career. Similarly to Jeff Hendricks, he isn’t blessed with the technical ability of a Will Hughes but his drive, determination, maturity and versatility will see him go far. Fozzy will play in the cups and when Roberts needs a rest. Roberts is good at the role Rosenior wants him to play, so he'll continue to be first choice. He was down my side second half so was noticing him misplace passes a fair bit. Are Charlton still long ball merchants (like under Bowyer)? Fozzy height could be useful in that case too. Got to be Stearman dropping out of the squad when McGoldrick is fit. It becomes tricky when we get a RB in. Knight moving into midfield and Smith dropping to the bench. Do you drop Oduroh or Tommo from the squad? ?♂️
