I really don't understand this. I am usually never negative about signings, but this guy cannot be any good, he cannot be better than Whittaker or Mason Bennett. We have others not getting starts, will he even play?

Explain why he CANNOT be better than those 2

because Villa have NO strikers available, and they still don't pick him.

Villa are fighting are...

A) Fighting a relegation battle in the prem

B) have bucket loads of cash to buy a replacement including the one they just spent £8.5m on

C) they also loaned out Scott Hogan and and sold Kodjia

D) He's on loan at tranmere so if they recall him and play him in the week or two they don't have a striker then they can't loan him anywhere again

E) They're in a Premier League relegation battle so the fact that they don't want to entrust that battle entirely to an U21 striker is more an indictment of their predicament and investment than his ability

I could go on but...food for thought

Chris Martin wasn't a bad initial loan

Yeah but Martin had good seasons at Norwich, Palace & Luton behind him...

This one is reeeeeeealy odd.

Saying that, it is O'Rouke reporting it, who's exclusives normally turn out to be a load of betty swollocks

Good seasons is subjective, he was very average. And he was no good on loan here either, and only eventually showed it under McClaren. Managers and systems make a huge difference.

Didn't impress the fans when on loan, scoring 2 and assisting 2 in 13 games. You could see his class though.
At the start of the following season under Clough he scored 6 and assisted 1 in 12 games. The Martin and Russell partnership looked exceptionally promising (Russell had 4 in 10)

Lots of our u23s could look like that - where's Zanzala now?

Finding his feet in the division below us and actually doing a pretty good job with lots of room for growth.

He will potentially be in the championship next year if he carries on performing and developing. ?
