Makes you wonder if Arsenal may start looking at think about luring him away. ramit
Turkey vs Iceland about to start. Can hardly hear the Icelandic national anthem for deafening boos from the Turkish fans. Classy. Hope we thrash them again
ramit
0-0 at halftime. A very physical encounter, Iceland not giving any time in their half. Nothing for the keepers to do as of yet, the best chance falling for Turkey with a header from a cross going over the bar. The longer the game goes on without a Turkish goal, the more restless the natives will get and Turkey will throw more men forward, which is just what Iceland would want them to do. Am pleased with the Icelandic setup, it's a 442 and no kick and run this time, just hard playing and one touch football. This is the 13th meeting between the two side, Iceland have won 8 of them. ramit
Game ended 0-0, we almost had them near the end, when pressing relentlessly to get the goal we needed. VAR would have come in handy in one instance as a headed ball was cleared from what seemed like behind the Turkish goal line. The Turkish manager got a yellow card, his assistant got a yellow for impeding the game and then a red for doing it again by running in the way of an Icelandic player wanting to take a quick throw in. This means Iceland will not qualify automatically to the finals, but Turkey are through.

Last time we played them away from home, it was the same thing and nothing happened, our FA is partly to blame for that i am sure. The Turkish FA officials were furious with Icelandic customs officials when they came to play us at home, they demanded that they get a speedy way through the airport without having to show passports or be delayed in any way, although they have no right to make such demands. Seems they want everyone to show them respect, while they show none. A Belgian tourist pretended to be a journalist at the airport and stuck a washing up brush into their faces, as if it was a microphone. The Turks are still furious about that incident and blame Iceland for it. There was such an uproar after the incident that the Icelandic FA put a ban on all washing up brushes at our home games and searched people on the day to make sure no one was smuggling one in heh
Ghost of Clough
Recent instances suggested they’ll get a small fine - something like £20-40k I think

SKRam
Really pleased for Wales, great celebrations too. Hungary were way off, very poor for a team I thought were a decent side, though their away record is naff..... we haven’t any Hungarians playing for us have we? ?
