Time to go !

Have to give him some time, even if expectations are presently not being met,a relatively new and inexperienced manager .We knew that when we hired him so cant expect everything from day one. A couple more transfer window s unless the team doesnt show promise should be realistic.

or maybe the fans, im thinking of the guy who started this thread for one..... needs to get some realistic expectations.

The 2014 team was very specialist in how it played, and featured many players who cant adapt to a different system (more balanced style of play). So the minute we decide to go away from that style, the new manager must be given time, a lot of time, we are talking 3 transfer windows, to build a new side.

That's just not true though. Are you telling me all 11 players that season were only used to playing one system?

Martin aside who only seems to thrive playing up top on his own, I can't see any excuse for other players not adapting because they were playing in 'specialist' positions.

Mac/Simmo just knew how to get the best out of the team.

Martin yes, but also applied to hendrick, hughes and bryson. who cant switch play or kick it further than 10 feet.

The minute Pearson asked for two holding midfielders we were stuffed. and to play a 4-2-3-1 you need them.

neither Butterfield or Johnson are true balanced midfielders either, both better going forward in their different ways.

All we had since Eustace left the building is a george thorne who is often injured. And dont even get me started on our ability to attack or defend a set piece with our lack of height that team had.

The best form of defence that team had, was to dominate possession, and when we didnt have it press them high.

But unless we were on our game, we didnt ever get in behind, and build up was slow, and when we did loose it, the opposition had all the space in the world to counter into.

I understand why Clement went into the transfer market after losing Bryson and Hughes so early on. It crucially defined that season and had it not happened, we might be talking about our next match in the PL rather then how long before our current failing manager gets the boot. Just a shame that Butterfield and Johnson turned out to be inadequate midfield replacements & very poor signings for DCFC.

Reading some of these despondent ,negative posts makes me think about some of the rubbish RAMS teams I`ve watched over the years .Much worse than this team !

Like the mid 80`s when we got used to losing most games  home and away.We turned up expecting a loss (until Arthur came) Our anthem at these games was

"Always look on the bright side of life"

 Get whistling

"So cheer up  you know what they say some things in life are bad They can make you really mad"

You know the rest !

I don't think it's time for him to go. Give him at least 1 full season even if we're down at the bottom. We can't keep changing managers, and even if we wanted to the options out there aren't great.

Having said that, I think Gary could help himself with the style of football. Clearly his approach is incredibly cautious and defensive, highlighted by things such as every single player back for corners, leaving no outsource if we win it.

Perhaps a slightly different approach, and the infusion of a couple of the youngsters such as Guy would help to get some fans back on side at least, and just create more enjoyable performances.

His style is yet to be fully evident.

Every single player back for corners with a role is a good thing. I'd venture to suggest that Mcclaren players knew next to nothing about little details like how many go out to defend a short corner where two attackers are over there. Thus Rowetts mentioning of it in the one game and of how Johnny failed to do the right thing earlier in the season. Devil in the details.

Honestly in the entire time Mcclaren was with us I don't think he ever coached a set piece in his life. Only the players would really know who teaches what but it would explain why under mac it seemed we hardly ever scored on a corner but yet conceded a ton of goals on set pieces.

We hardly ever scored a corner because of the players we had.

Hughes, Eustace, Bryson, Ward, Russell, Dawkins, Bryson... Who were you expecting to score from corners?

For the large part only Martin, Buxton, Keogh and Forsyth were a threat in the air.

When the opposition are defending with nine players in the box, you're rarely going to score no matter how fancy your set-pieces are.

We're more of a threat these days as we're a more physically imposing team. On the flip side, we're fall less mobile, far less comfortable in possession and slower over the parl.

I'd rather watch a team who can score in open play than one who relies on set-pieces.

For every frustrating goal we conceded from a set-piece under Mac, we made up by scoring two quality goals from open play.

Now I'm going to probably get loads of flack for this but ...if and it's IF GR was to get booted I have the perfect management team to get us going again ...

Nigel Clough and Steve Maclaren together .... no im not drunk... well I've had a few actually lol but seriously I've always thought they'd be great together

Clough done a great job under the circumstances and Mac came in and got Clough players organised better and added a few loans which I don't think Clough would've done.... mac is and always will be a good coach and not a manager in my view.. look at qpr after he left they were never nearly as good as when mac was coaching them and Clough is a good manager but needed better assistance and not Crosby and co they didn't cut it for me.... yes it's beer talk a bit but none the less I've always thought what if they worked together .... just a thought ....night rams fans ???

Go to bed you're drunk.

Wouldn't worry too much. People have as much idea about who they're quoting as they do about how to conduct a scientific experiment when they write that garbage out.

Superb analogy, deserves more than one like for that. Fizzy, watery piss brilliant. We just need a Del Boy character to top it up with cherryade and we have the perfect cocktail for success. This time next year Rodney.

Are you advocating @Boycie as manager or @DEL?

Under the circumstances and how the club has been run over the last 3 years, I think maybe we need to start planning not for the next Manager, but the one after that. So any thoughts on who will replace the Manager that replaces Rowett...probably in April/May time towards the end of the season...thoughts????
