Just a thought, but looks like (Nixon aside) that the DET are the first on this one?

Not at all, Steve was asked if he'd heard this last night and he asked where the info was from as he hadn't heard anything. Nice to see a Twitter fan telling the DET sports writer what's going on!!

Preston North End front man Callum Robinson is reported to be interesting Derby County.

The Rams are said to be eyeing 22-year-old Robinson after seeing an offer for Leicester City's Tom Lawrence turned down.

Their interest in Robinson has not reached the bidding stage.

Robinson netted 11 goals last season, 10 of those in the Championship and the other against Arsenal in the FA Cup.

He played up front and on the left-wing last term, and during pre-season under Alex Neil has operated both on the left flank and in the No.10 role.

Robinson is the second Preston player to attract interest from a Championship rival this summer, North End having turned down a £2.5m bid from Birmingham City for Jordan Hugill last month.

PNE open their Championship campaign against Sheffield Wednesday at Deepdale on Saturday afternoon.

They face Derby at Pride Park on Tuesday, August 15.

How much is very big dough? We've just had a £7 million bid for Lawrence rejected and it appears that's why we're moving onto other targets. Think Preston would accept a figure under £7 million?

Well Yanic Wildschut, an inferior player, moved for £7m in January. Jacob Murphy as good as he is, didn't do a great deal more than Robinson last season and moved for £12m.

Using those examples, it would have to be something daft.

Yeah he looks more like a striker in these clips. Wander what Phillips could do with him!

To be fair it is just a goal compilation not a full analysis of his playing style.

Certainly looks confident in the box.

Reading the article in the Telegraph and from the things that our manager is saying, a more consider approach appears to be the order of the day.

The bid for Lawrence at 7 million pounds looked to be a healthy sum but Leicester seem to think he's worth more when most if not all think he's worth less.

With that in mind it looks like we've gone for a player who scored a similar amount of goals from out wide and hopefully not going to lob vast transfer fees at him.

The  constant spend spend spend philosophy of recent times hasn't really worked and the 11.5 million pounds we made Watford richer by last August just smacked of "oh god we've got to sign someone... anyone"

If our manager is prepared to look elsewhere and not be held to ransom then hopefully he will get what he's looking for at far more reasonable prices.

Also shows to me that he is thinking of different ways to do business and I hope this also is part of his tactical match day thinking, flexible in how he approaches things when they aren't going our way.

I am sure Derby will find examples to counter these 2 examples, plus we could use as an example Ince for £8m who has been one of the most consistent scorers in the league for a few years now.

It is understood that offers came in yesterday for Jordan Hugill and Callum Robinson, both of which were rejected.

The bid for last season’s top scorer Hugill was believed to have been an improved one from Birmingham City. Last month they had a £2.5m offer rejected.

Derby were in touch about Robinson but the figure they had in mind fell short of PNE’s valuation.
