People need to chill out, same with people worrying no transfers yet even though the window hasn’t opened yet. I am sure by the start of the season we will reach last season’s figures

I've always renewed the week of the deadline and I suspect most people do. I'd be suprised if there is any drop off in support this season

Trevor Christie did and I've a feeling he played for Leicester and Mansfield to. Played a major role in getting us out of this league the last time we were in it I'll never forget the hat trick at Swansea that kept us in with a chance of going up . I'm not sure there wasn't another around that era (Gray?) though I think he was only on loan for us.

It was flogging Oakley and Jones that told me he didn't have the foggiest. Oakley had probably been out best player and had proven Prem quality, and Jones could be frustrating but had a real touch of class about him. We spent the cash on a headless chicken who the fans openly (and rightly) despised. Clueless.

Chelsea at home as well.  Robbed in that one.
By the time of Jewells double training sessions and stellar January of flogging two midfielders who kept us competitive but losing by the odd goal and replacing them with players last had a good game in the 90's, it was appalling.

Docherty destroyed the best club in the country. No one else can come close.
I felt sorry for Gregory as he jumped ship from Villa to come to us IIRC. Then it didn't work out.
Billy Davies started out with a good team that took us to the top of the league, miles ahead, but then he dumped most of them to bring in his mates, meaning we went into the Prem with a team that would have struggled to stay up in the Championship. Horrible man.
Lampard somehow failed to get us promoted with Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori in the team, aided and abetted with the likes of Harry Wilson, Jayden Bogle, Craig Bryson, Tom Lawrence and a fit Keogh and younger Davies to choose from. That's quite some achievement. In hindsight perhaps his managerial abilities were already becoming clear?

Sorry Archie but Brown was a disaster can you remember 3-1 defeat to Colchester in the FA Cup after the match Radio Derby interviewed him and a number of fans told him to f*** Off out the club on the Monday he was sacked. Clement's football was boring football.

People oft forget Shiltons games though, end of the season we finished 5th Shilton came 5th in the ballon d'or , and this when English clubs did not play in Europe

I would vote George Thorne every time he played in his first season with us. If he’d been born with knee joints he could have been the England captain.
I think I’m going to go away and cry now. 😢

Although I was absolutely  ecstatic over beating Leeds, however, for clear class the play-off 2nd leg semi-final against Brighton was pure joy to watch, from a team that should have just murdered QPR in the final.
That poxy, last minute goal was heart breaking.

Don’t buy that Bird isn’t a good captain. Unless my maths is wrong he captained the side for 17 of the 19 game unbeaten streak, the only games he wasn’t captain for during that period was the final 2 games of that run when Davies came back in because of Cashin’s injury, was even people calling him ‘captain fantastic’ after the goal at Cheltenham. So Bird would be my pick, though I can see the merit behind Forsyth as club captain with Bird carrying on as vice captain.

No, Im afraid the Brian Clough trophy is going to stay with them for ages now. The only way we could win it back is if we got promoted this season. Now I can’t see us playing Forest again for a very long time.
they’ll get relegated this season, so if we had gone up through the playoffs, we could’ve played them next season.
But Phil the Greek will call in his debt, which will send them into a spiral, and back to back relegations. Meanwhile we’ll soar the top of league 1 and we’ll be ships that cross in the night.

I don't really care about Sunday, and how it ended for Curtis at Derby. It's a shame it did end that way, but he won't be remembered for that moment. He will be remembered for his leadership, professionalism and his loyalty to Derby County over the last 6 years. We've been through a pretty rough last few years, there are many who turned their backs on us, walked away, acted like they cared about the Club but their real actions suggested otherwise. Curtis has done nothing but prove how much he really cares about the Club and given nothing but 100%, as a fan I don't think you can value anything in a player more than that. The term legend is banded around a lot in football, and over the last 20 or so years, we've hardly been blessed with many who could even try to claim that title. I think Curtis Davies is one of those who would have a fair shout at that though.
The highlight for me is Sheffield Wednesday at home, last game of the season, with everything on the line. Even at 36 years old, without yet recovering from what was potentially a career ending injury, he's put his own body on the line to give everything, even for just 10 minutes, to play his part in keeping us up. That alone is enough to ensure that he will always be fondly welcomed back at Pride Park, and I hope he is back soon be that as a player, or a media career he looks set to have.
One thing I will always remember will be the effort he took to talk to me after a game once. I'm a bit too old to be bothered fussing over players, asking for photos etc. When I come up for games, I tend to go into The Yard afterwards to have a drink, see the scores and wait for the footfall to die down. As I was coming out to walk into town, Curtis was walking over to his car so I just said "well played today Curtis", expecting him to just say "thanks" and carry on to his car, wouldn't have thought anything of it if he did that. Instead, he asked where I'd come up from, recognising that I didn't have a local accent. He was thanking me for the support and travelling to watch the team. I just thought that was a really genuine thing to do and shows off what kind of person he is.

He wasn't the most talented on the ball, he didn't ooze class like McGrath or Igor, but if you wanted a player to stick his head in front of a shot to save a match for you, it was Curtis. The pain he must have been in to play every minute of the relegation season at his age must have been incredible. I just wish he could have gone out lifting the playoff trophy.
They'll be hard boots to fill, and there will be a leadership chasm in the dressing room.

Be careful now.  Next thing we'll all be accused by our banjo bothering neighbours of boarding HMS piss the league using Blackberry contracts to get on for free and still not having enough passengers to even fill the lifeboats.  The proof of this will be a picture they took off took of a half empty boat at 2 pm an hour before sailing.

I'm sure this has been pointed out before but Arthur Cox didn't get us out of this division at the first time of asking and then only by the skin of our teeth the following season. Look what happened then. Okay some will say footballs changed since then but it hasn't changed that much lets have a bit of patience let Warne get on with the job and see were that leads us.

I actually think this could be a blessing in disguise....
If we'd been promoted, we would have really struggled to recruit decent Championship level players within the financial restraints that we'll be under next season (even assuming the EFL permitted us a bit more wriggle room) - it had the potential to be a horrible season with us spending most of the time in the lower reaches trying to fight off relegation. As it is, we will be after less-able (League One level) players, a lot of whom will have played at PP this season and will have liked what they've seen - we'll still be one of the biggest clubs in the division and we'll hopefully be able to recruit players to address the obvious gaps in the squad, permit us to have more options in the matchday squad, and really give it a go from the start of the season with a fully fit squad that have all had a proper pre-season (something we struggled with this year) - and if we do go up, we should be free of the EFL and their diktats when we start in the Championship to really give us a fair chance to compete....
