  1. The great escape is still on. Cardiff and Reading both lost so it’s 9 points and 8  points respectively.

Cardiff interest me mostly as we really only need to make up 6 points on them before the last game of the season and one of those games is against us.

So if we can beat Cardiff away in the rearranged fixture then we only need to pick up 3 more points than them from elsewhere.

It doesn’t seem that daunting if you look at it this way.

  2. The problem with that theory is that the stadium is collateral in a deal between Mel and MSD and that is not subject to any administration process.  If we go under Mel still owns the stadium along with MSD. He could go ahead with plans to make it a covered arena for entertainment events and conventions. It”ll rival the NEC. The stadium would still be viable even if it wasn’t a football ground.

"Derby's administrators could seek a legal ruling on their compensation battles with Middlesbrough and Wycombe if the Football League don't step back from their current position of the cases being regarded as football debts, BBC Sport understands."

Will that happen before Feb 1st?

The EFL have said they want it sorting but it’s a legal matter so it’s not up to them to sort. So the admins seeking a legal ruling would satisfy the EFL.

So admins get this ruling sorted sharpish.

I think Nixon maybe just guessing as the EFL and the Administrators have not been releasing information, why would they take Nixon into their confidence ?‍♂️?

This is right. There is nothing from official quarters saying anything about why there has not been a preferred bidder. The Boro, Wycombe stuff is guesswork.
It could just as easily have been that the admins got wind of Ashley’s interest around the time they were going to announce Appelby’s bid and wanted to listen to him.

Boro and Wycombe are not creditors and any legal action will take months to even come to court. These clubs have no grounds to stop a takeover as well as having no case.

I think a lot of fans are getting hot under the collar as normally happens on a Sunday when these journo’s are tasked to write their column and need to find an angle no matter how much total boIlocks it is.

  5. Cash strapped Chorley pulled out all the stops to get a giant tent in to keep their pitch from freezing. They even had the nerve to come on here and get us to help fund it with virtual tickets just to make sure they played our under 18s.

There is now way they’d have spent that money if they were up against our first team. They’d have just let their pitch freeze and played another day.

    They took full advantage.

No-one really knows if CK was Rooney's preferred bidder : he said himself "he's the only one I've met and know about". If he really has been in regular contact with the Administrators, he would surely have picked up that they can't afford to favour anyone other than the one most likely to return maximum funds to the Creditors.

I also doubt that Everton will take such a major risk on an untried manager. Besides, does he even have the requisite coaching qualifications for the PL?

    I said hypothetically.

  7. Hypothetically, who do you think Rooney will take with him to Everton now that his preferred CK bid has evaporated and he might yet be tempted to Goodison.

Bird, Beilik, Buchanan, Festy but with a loan back and Knight?

He’s never fancied Sibley but who else of the kids would he be looking at.

Cant see any other posts covering it so i'll ask the dumbass question.

Now we need a covid pass, if i test covid+ve between now and then are the club doing anything for ST Holders in that boat ? IE - a 1 off Rams TV pass or something  ? or do we need to sort ourselves out ? if its not on sky.

As i'm away for xmas and driving back the morning of the WBA game to see it - Of course the other risk is i drive back at stupid o'clock to find the game gets called off last thing for lack of fit players. Last time i was away and drove back on boxing day it was cancelled (for snow ?)

cant remember when it was though - quiz question anyone  ?

i was less than happy with that one.

Do they give refunds if you are on chemo or otherwise hospitalised or incapacitated?

I assume the same policy would apply, whatever that is?

  9. There’s always the run and through ball for Marriott at Leeds.

Keogh has done nothing any employee would do if they felt they had a case for wrongful dismissal.

Not only did he have a case, he won it.

Should he have just sucked it up and waved goodbye to £2 million, would anyone have?

Keogh has always had a section of fans who didn’t like him yesterday just gave them a chance to vent.

  10. He’s a bit of a panto villain at present. He was a fine servant of the club in my opinion and and independent tribunal said he was entitled to his wages.
If we weren’t facing liquidation and keogh’s wages part of the debt then I doubt he’d of had the reception he got.

He’s the only person who has a link to liquidation who has stood in front of fans to be abused. He took it well in but at least he stood up to be picked. Morris has be nowhere near.

Some asked why Keogh and Pearce get abuse but Mel seems to be getting away with it.

My response would be that while he has the ground he has a say on what happens. If we abuse him he may take a hissy fit and refuse to sell as part of the deal. In which case we could end up like Bury.

  11. 5 stages of grief.
    1. Denial - All paper talk Mel has the EFL on strings, books where already signed off.

    2. Anger - My god it was Mel all time time, what a massive cu..

    3. Bargaining - We have a good case to get admin overturned - Mel said it’ll only be 4 points for 1 year. How much will HMRC take to duck off?

    4. Depression - Duck me, this reality is dawning on me -will we have a club.

    5. Acceptance - Were going down despite it being mathematically possible to stay up.

Yesterday’s result pushed me to the acceptance stage. I don’t think we’ll be liquidated but I’m sure we’re going down.

Getting out of this mess with DCFC still in existence will do me.

  12. In normal circumstances with Rooneys record it is likely Rooney would have been sacked with about 4 games left of last season. He has done nothing to turn that form around this year. As has been said we would be in a relegation battle without the point deduction so in a purely points returned perspective he has not been successful in the slightest.

    But…

We have been hamstrung by an embargo, admin,  FFP, injuries to key players.
It’s a forlorn hope. When the battle is over and we see who have deserted and who we have left and if Rooney is still here then he deserves a chance on an even playing field.

I think it will be fair to judge at that point.

  13. What’s the point of the thread?

Managing in these conditions is difficult. Not just from a quality of player point of view but from a motivational point of view. It’ll only get harder as the goal gets even less attainable.

I don’t know if anyone else would do better but we have a manager trying to manage a situation that hardly any other manager has had to face. So who do you find with the experience to deal with this situation, answer, no-one.

Rooney needs to get a chance to work without his hands tied behind is back. But from a stat point of view, right now  I think he’s our worst manager ever. I just hope he doesn’t go down in history as that as it would be a bit unfair.

  14. There are far too many professional football clubs attempting to keep their heads above water.

Football in this country has sold out to money years ago and it cannot be reversed without removing the huge monetary rewards on offer at the top of the game and that will take legislation the the government won’t pass. Leaving football in this country to self regulation has failed.

The hard truth is that we are left with what we have and it’s a case of if you can’t beat ‘em join ‘em.

The prem may be open to create prem 2 and allow promotion and relegation between the two with prize money distributed via league position 1 to 40.

Of course how do you chose 40 clubs?

Some are obvious but some are not. Plymouth as the only club out in the southwest should be in. There are far too many London clubs so two or three of them should be chucked out.

Football needs a major revamp but it needs streamlining and less professional clubs. The fa cup stays but the EFL after 132 years is finished as the two pro leagues will be run by the FA as is non league football.

    I’m just spitballing ideas.

Even more radical is all clubs get out disbanded and 20 franchises created in locations around the country. I in Wales 2 in Scotland 1 in NI and the rest geographical spread around England focused on large population centres.

There’d be a huge clamour for 1 of these franchises with Billionaires globally bidding to get one,

East Midlands United for example, playing out of a 100000 seater stadium near East Midlands Airport draw from Derby Notts and Leicester.

The mighty EMU a team to be feared.

Fans aren’t ready for this solution just yet I fear.
