I think the answer is powerless. The EFL saw proof of the money, what they didn't know - or have the legal right to investigate - is where it had come from. We now suspect it may have been "borrowed" from his employers (allegedly).

This is no different to Marinakis providing proof of funds at Forest. The money is there, and plentiful.

What the EFL are powerless to do is to investigate the sources of people's wealth, and then to make a value judgement on it.

Once we start doing that, it's a tricky path. Where do we draw the line? Human rights, drugs, tax evasion, gambling, alcohol?

People don't generally accumulate the types of funds needed to buy and run competitive football clubs by being 100% ethical.

    It's a minefield.

They aren't, or shouldn't be, powerless - I cannot believe that neither the EFL nor the administrators had a robust process in place to validate the source of funds, it's a very normal practice and one that perhaps the banks did properly and hence the money never materialised. At best, the EFL and the administrators could be considered a little negligent.

The definition of the word would suggest it was a dubious decision.

Perhaps people don't understand what dubious means? Certainly the case that we didn't get the rub of the green from those 2 decisions.

  3. Definitely not the sort of thing I would post or say but, as others have already mentioned, social media is chocka with this sort of stuff. While the PAFC admin are kind of correct to call it out, it just reinforces the tribal nature of football - If they (and other clubs and fans) REALLY want to champion getting rid of this sort of things then they must call out their own fans. It's harder to do but that's when people will take notice.

That got me thinking, how many clubs are actually in a different town ( or City) Brighton play in Falmer, Bolton in Horwich, Bournemouth in Boscombe, Grimsby in Cleethorpes and of course Notts forest should actually be called West Bridgford town.

The stadium is in Brighton & Hove, the boundary kind of cuts through the middle of Falmer, parts of the car park etc are not in Brighton....

I know, and they open the bars in the concourses in the stadium after the game and serve a decent pint of Harvey's to encourage fans not to rush back to the station. I think they'd got it pretty well organised for an out of town stadium, but I haven't been there since they got promoted so not sure if anything has changed.

There's been a reduction in the number of P&R sites and one car park has closed - Trains to/from Brighton are an absolute nightmare at the best of times but the problem these days is that more kick off time changes and the trains often don't accommodate this. It's definitely a stadium you have to plan your day around visiting....

I must've driven tens of thousands of miles on the basis that transfer to airport, going through airport check in, security, boarding, flight, pick up luggage, transfer to destination is marginal saving on time at best and massively inconvenient. In the UK unless it's one end to the other there really isn't much of a case for it.

And yeah "all the prem clubs do it" just means all the prem clubs are being rather stupid because they can be.....I'm not particularly picking on forest for this one, it's a bad example but it's really not a great way of getting to matches.

100% They could have got home quicker on a coach, it makes no sense whatsoever. I would love to know the thinking behind it, I suspect it's a lot to do with the ego of players and clubs, basically 'because they can'.

This would also have cost north of £50k - The ATR 72-600 is not a small plane.....

I'll reiterate, it probably took them longer to get home this way, bonkers.

  7. Very surprised to see that they flew to Blackpool on Saturday, makes something of a mockery of their 'green' partnership with e-on to 'drive climate change awareness'. I realise it's not just them that are flying to games but it's obviously convenient to use them as an example - Not only is it extremely environmentally unfriendly, it doesn't make any sense, I just don't see the benefit. They were back 'on  the stand' at EMA at 19:25 on Saturday, that's more than 2.5 hours after their thrashing ended. Best case that has them at their training ground well over 3 hours after the match, quite similar to how long a coach may take. It's madness.

The end of January sees the anniversary of the March before the Birmingham game.

Has anyone had any thoughts on repeating it as a celebration of us still being alive and kicking?

I think it's a great idea, I had thought similar - Maybe try and get the various supporters groups championing it? If the right voices are heard, it will happen....

Give Burton there dues they deserved the point to be fair.

However its another game that as got away from us when three points were there for the taking,Dobbin clean through on goal and never looked like scoring springs to mind, think we need NML and Barks on the flanks and give him a rest

6 points from our next 2 home games is a bare minimum for me,no more hard look we played well and should of done better remarks are starting to be a bit cringe worthy, but we are were we are and still unbeaten for a good while we just need to take a bit more care in front of goal

How many points for your bare maximum? 9? 13?

Makes me laugh some of the comments, Warne may or may not be right for DCFC but he is a nice bloke and friendly and there is no pleasing some.....making friends with Klopp could lead to a loan or two who knows and I for one don't think you get much from life in general by  being nasty or un-friendly.

He's not my choice as manager and I certainly don't agree with some of the tactics etc but football apart  he seems like a thoroughly decent bloke

Yeah, well said. Odd how people can't separate ability from personality. I recognise that Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the greatest players that has graced the turf, I love watching him play. I also think he is a CJTC if the highest order.

I was very surprised when LR was let go and intrigued by the change of direction that was the Warne appointment but whatever you think of that, it's pretty clear that he's the kind of guy you want to work for.
