I'm not sure what any of this is all about and I also can't see the good in it, anyone help clarify what this is all about?

It talks of lack of accountability and limited transparency due to the NDAs, that's just bizarre. The very creation of a shadow board is a demonstration of accountability and transparency and should be cherished. An NDA is perfectly normal, what do they expect? A free for all, you want to share the detail behind the published accounts, go for it!

I think Lloyd is the Du Plooy replacement and Donald the Haider replacement. Lloyd won't match Du Plooy’s runs, but hopefully will be a much better captain

With Reece and Lloyd bowling options, I don't think you need Amir, Chappell, Conners, Dal, and Thomson all playing.

I’d still like a quality overseas spinner if we can get one.

Looks like a decent line up but then I always think that! I do think that Amir, in spring conditions in England, will take plenty of wickets.

Just beacuse the pre-match poem has had a few mentions, I'll throw my tuppence in on this and say that I really hate it. It's too long & cringey but most of all - entirely centered around the city of Derby. We're Derby County.

I'm a Derby County fan and proud to say I'm from Derbyshire but having grown up in the middle of the Peak District, have no affinity with Derby as a city - except as being the location of the football club.

The poem should reflect the county, not just the city.

We're 'county' in name only, the city and the club are inextricably linked. I don't think you would describe the towns of Buxton, Glossop or Chesterfield as DCFC heartlands!! I appreciate you may not like the poem (I love it) but you can't separate the club and the city.

Roseniors last game in the Championship:

    58 % possession

    1,52 XG against 0,63

    18 shots

    478 passes 86 % successful

    Warnes last game in L1

    44 % possession

    1,78 XG against 1,65

    8 shots

    205 passes 64 % successful

I know which style I would prefer.

I'm no particular fan of stats and I'm certainly not wetting the bed about Warne BUT that is dreadful, horrific.

I really don't get this wrist slashing. Yes it was a dour affair and atm we look like a mid table outfit. But hasn't 17 managers since 2007 shown you anything. Hire and fire doesn't work does it. We are still shopping in Poundland for players and that's where we're at. Sacking the current management team won't name the slightest bit of difference....

Spot on, 100%, nothing to add.

I don't think the expectation is too high. Ambitious at this point. I think it should be more a case of managing your expectations.  Warne inherited the team last year. This year is his first attempt "to build HIS team" . They have only been together for a handful of games. They need some time.

Weren't Manchester United looking at sacking Ferguson after around 6 or 7 games. Didn't do too badly did he. And before those of you who will say, Warne is no ferguson and Derby are no MU. I am purely saying manage those expectations and be a little patient.

Quite - We can't just keep churning through managers because of some fans' lack of patience. Finanace alone makes this a difficult proposition but we're also not exactly an attractive propostion if we get rid of another one....

Apologies to the posters I've quoted, there were countless others I could have chosen.

Is it just me or does this kind of argument remind anyone else of the attitude to FFP that contributed to the club's current position?

Dark arts, professionalism, poohousery, call it what you want. At the end of the day it's cheating and embarrassing to see. Personally it's not what I want to be associated with and I'd rather the club played with integrity and sought to influence a change in the way it's dealt with.

No need to apologise! The difference between this and the FFP shenanigans is that we were outliers, probably not the only ones doing it but we did it to an extreme. The problem with football is that it's an imperfect game, there are dozens of examples of 'cheating' every game that are just accepted as normal - Claiming for throw-ins/corners etc that players know are false, little off the ball shoves to gain a few yards (see JCH on Cashin leading to the first goal on Saturday), the chicanery that goes on for every single corner - It's all cheating so you either fix it at a macro level or spend years basking in the glory of integrity and honour and getting battered every week.

Im not a fan but other teams are doing it against us and we can’t afford to have better principles than every other team in the sport…

100%  - I don't want to be smugly enjoying our principled team, while sitting 16th in the table. Taking every advantage, pushing the boundaries of the law, it's all part of the game.

I hope you're not watching this afternoon! 'Village' would be a VERY complimentary desciption, this is absolutely pathetic.

The good: Ward looks a really good outlet, always positive and put some decent crosses in today. Forsyth did a really good job of getting up and down the pitch and scored a great goal. I thought Bird had some positive passes and touches in good positions.

The bad: The defence and keeper. What was that lads? 2 calamitous goals and generally looked like they had no idea what each of them was doing. I felt Wildsmith should do better with both goals, certainly the second. Collins and Mendez-Laing largely pretty ineffectual. The subs didn't offer much.

Overall, I felt we played well in spells but you can't defend like that in any division. Really needs tightening up and fast.

Reasonable analysis and the good news is that we know the central defenders and the keeper are good players so there's really nothing to worry about there. Up front still looks a bit short of where we need to be of course. Onwards and upwards.

This is the sort of comment that stops people posting, you can disagree but this coercive control attitude is not good for the forum or the recipent who receives it.

It smacks of you know best.

Someone disgreed with me yesterday, which is fine but the comment moronic is out of order to a person who supports the same team as you.

Just to offer a slightly different angle - Some comments need calling out as absurd, perhaps we could be more forensic and clinical about it but sometimes that's a bit difficult. The proliferation of ridiculous posts like the one in question make me want to avoid the board altogether. If I could be bothered to breakdown the post then I guess it would be thus but I think a STFU is more appropriate.

It's pretty obvious Warne couldn't attract a moth to a light - Obviously not true.

We're the biggest team in this League but have been reduced to scrabbling about in the dirt for castoffs. Not sure what biggest means or how it's relevant but we don't have the option to just splash money around because we are working to a very strict budget.

    Pathetic state of affairs. No

Given what we experienced as a club I don’t want to see any other fans going through it. What this does highlight once more are the failings of the governing bodies. How have the EFL allowed them to sign players before the HMRC payment was paid? Surely waiting a few days to be sure all scheduled payments were met THEN allowing the signings would have been sensible?

I'm very very rarely one to defend the EFL but I'm not sure you can sanction a club based whether they may or may not meet a future payment. That said, and too your broader point, they should be all over them like a rash now they've missed yet another payment. It's entirely unfair when you compare what happened to us.

They have made more attacking signings than we have, something that Warne highlighted as a priority.

They have 13 senior players - I'm sure that 'decent team' is a subjective matter but I think the ability to fill the bench on a matchday might by a factor most of us would consider.

  14. 24 minutes ago, Kokosnuss said:

I think the ability to spend fees is probably there, but we'll only spend if we feel it's absolutely necessary.

There are more expensive signings who would be 'nice to have' but if we believe that we can bring in a less flashy player to successfully accomplish our aims without spending a transfer fee, we'll choose that route.

Say we spend £1.25m of a £1.5m budget on a striker &/or a No. 10 in this window, but then Bird (having his most influential season to date) does his ACL in November and is out for the season, does the remaining £250k cut it in terms of finding a suitable replacement? If not that's our season buggered - we could have the best striker in the league but if our midfield balance gets mucked up it would be for naught.

Quite - It shows you many people's approach to budgeting - I have £500, I must go and spend £500 as soon as possible. Worry about the rainy day when it rains.....

@Ellafella has all the averaged player ratings from the past two seasons. WhoScored have him down as MOTM in 3 games over the past two seasons, same as Sibley.

I’d guess that Knight will probably have the highest rating in our side in 10-15 games out of the last 92 (plus cup games). It would be interesting to get the breakdown of how many times a player has been rated the best, average rating, etc. Not sure if they were ever published. I can’t find them on here when searching.

And that's why £2m is a fantastic deal for a player with less than a year on his contract. Very very few L1 players will go for more than that.

Can't help but think when the Ireland manager was implying that he needs to be at a club higher up the food chain, he didn't have a bottom half championship team in mind 🤣

  16. 2 hours ago, Mr Tibbs said:

Probably not. I think he'll push on with a few more consistent Championship seasons ahead of him.

He's only worth what he's shown so far though. I think it's a good deal for all involved, especially with the contract situation for us.

Agreed, £2m plus the full back is just fine. Knight has the potential to be a decent championship player.
