Any views on how we were so overrun for that 20 min spell after halftime? (They really should have equalised with one chance in particular but otherwise the defence stood up but we couldn’t keep possession). How could we sort that?

We cant. And they didnt score in that spell - we saw them off. I am sorry but I dont really get what you are asking. Other teams will always up their games at points during a game and look more of a threat. We need to keep strong in those moments and we did. Unless you expect every other team to just give us promotion?

  2. We were in same position with Cambridge last year. If you dont get tickets immediately call ticket office and put yourself on their waiting list. We got our Camb tickets that way. No doubt we'll need to do same this year

There’s a player in there somewhere. He’ll be our next Igor.

It took a while but you could be right! (Not looks wise though 😉)

Was worried Warne may injure him getting a piggyback though

Exactly. If Thompson had been given opportunities last season, we wouldn't have needed to sign White last January. It may have been a factor in not needing to use up some of the budget on Fornah in the summer too. Same applies for Robinson.

I( think back to Cashin's introduction to the first team. Honestly, I wouldn't have put him above L2 standard at the time, which is where I feel Brown is at now. Would Warne have started him, when we still had Davies, Forsyth and Bielik as the other options at CB?
Would have have given Plange his debut when we still had Jozwiak and Stearman on the bench?
Would he have played Williams at LWB and Forsyth CB and leave Stearman on the bench?

Put simply, Warne's mentality is wrong for this club. Wilson's the youngest player he's permanently signed for us and he's 23. Out of his Rotherham signings who joined at a younger age,

    22/23:
None used. A 21 yo keeper played 45 mins under the following manager and has been a free agent since the summer

    21/22:
None used, but signed a keeper who has since retired

    20/21:
20 yo keeper who has been a regular starter

    19/20:
20 yo LB who featured for 622 mins in all competitions over 2 seasons before being moved on
19 yo LW who got 176 mins
22 year old Ogbene who was as squad player in his first season, then got just 606 mins in the Championship the following season before being a regualr starter in L1 aged 24.
21 year old Olusunde who was as squad player for 2 years and has only set foot on a football field 3 times since.

    18/19:
    None signed

    17/18:
22 yo CM who got 1832 mins in all competitions over 2 seasons before being moved on
20 yo CB who got 180 mins before being shipped out to non-league sides.
22 yo winger who got 242 in all competitions over 2 seasons before being moved on

    16/17:
19 yo LB who got 1756 mins in all competitions over 2 seasons before being moved on

That's only 1 succesful young signing!!!

The issue is even when he does play or pick them there doesnt seem to be a plan and it is erratic. They'll be on bench for a couple of games and then not at all for ages. Or one sub appearance for about 5 minutes then not in squad. Or uses only when really has no choice like Rooney. I would hope the communications behind the scenes with the younger players is managing this but it cant be doing anything for their confidence or transition up.

Detest MM but he saw long term the way forwards for us was the Brentford/Southampton academy model of bringing them through and selling as needed to be sustainable. Saddest thing about admin was how that was decimated.

As you say PW doesnt fit that model and hence not us as a club which is prob only way we will get back

It's not Brown's technical or physcial abilities which are stopping him from being L1 ready. The groundwork should have been laid for him months ago, which could have been the difference between him being ready to step up to start the odd game for us in the league now.

Waghorn and Washington have both been out since October and there was a 4 week gap between John-Jules making his first appearance since September. We sort of did... he got 45 minutes playing with Collins in the Wolves U21 game when he would have been better paired with a creative player - even Weston, Allen or Wheeldon would have been a better choice (instead of Collins) to see what he was actually capable of. He then got 15 minutes as a late sub (again paired with Collins) against Northampton and only 1 minute since - he didn't even get a run out in the other EFL Trophy games since then. That was the 3-0 win over Fleetwood and the dysmal dispaly against Bradford.

If he was given more game time to ease him into life as a Derby first team player, we would have been able to make a fairer judgement on if he's capable of playing a few games for us this month or not. It's not as if John-Jules has done much of note since his last goal (he played in 10 games since)

    This as with other youngsters

20 minutes to go but it’s not looking great is it…

Failing to strengthen further will undoubtedly cost us promotion and you’d think Warne his job.
Unless something drastic happens this January has yet again has not been good enough

    Even if not PW's fault?

Yes and no. The EFL have a 'streamline process" instead, where basically from 10:45 we can send over a partially completed transfer document, and get an extension until 11:15 to get all the paperwork in.

Other clubs can perhaps but can we

In my View we have just shot promotion straight in the foot .

    NO STRIKER AGAIN !!

Im all for Clowes i dont want him spending silly money ( lesson learned )

But for me midfield is terrible i dont agree that hourihane and Bird are what we need . If we are that tight on funds what a missed opportunity , why not sell bird get a fee and his wages off the books and with that get the midfielder in we have got in who i believe is a bit off a tackler what we have been crying out for !! . But also free up wages and money to go for a better striker .

I have always been a Warne fan think he is a grwat bloke doing a good job in still some fairly difficult circumstances but i think he has totally shot us in the foot here for going up , why he couldnt see off loading bird and getting a decent striker in is beyond me . We wont make autos now and i doubt we will win a playoff as derby sides are known for bottling it when the time comes .

Put my tin hat on but its how i feel right now .

Just cant believe we havent got a striker in and we only have one fit that everyone is not convinced about , and neither am i .

    There's all today yet 🤞😂

Let’s see what happens, but I think we have to be prepared for the reality of our limited finances.

    Just dont know any more.

Agree we have limited finances but seem to remember talk from summer window and since that our wage bill is high for the division or at least one of better ones suggesting we have not wanted to pay fees but have paid relatively high wages for short term experienced pros. So presume it is having used wage budget for first team squad that is limiting us.

Lots of criticism of Mark Thomas but if his remit is to bring in strong players for that next generation looking slightly longer term and PW needs to manage with short term contract older pros with a CBT here and there that isnt fair on either Warne or Thomas as both being slated for what perhaps has always been the plan ?🤷‍♀️.

This is why I think it is harder to be patient and supportive of current strategy as a fan.  If this is the case and club had said we are building for the future and will do our best to go up this year but bear with us may have been less criticism and more patience.

Other alternative is we cant afford to sack Warne this year and not risking his choices in this window so doing our best to keep Bird/cash hoping we do go up but that we bring in new manager in summer with different outlook who they may wish to sign for.

Who knows? Just seems shambolic but perhaps its not
