This stopped me wearing one for a while (always still chucked a couple of quid in the donation tin but never took the poppy). Sick of seeing tw4ts like Tommy Robinson and his thick followers hiJack something beautiful for their own means.

… but then I went and visited the battlefields in France and Belgium. The cemeteries, the monuments and heard from survivors. Made me realise we need to wrestle back the poppy from the likes of Robinson and those EDL mugs.

Don’t agree with forcing it on the whole crowd though. Imagine being a derby fan who flies in from Derry each match to find you’re smack bang in the middle of a poppy. Particularly if you’re old enough to remember the early 70s.

As an ex-serviceman the discord over it in recent weeks and even years disgusts me. So many people that I find truly repulsive attempting to hijack the cause for their own gain, to the point where I've totally disconnected from it all.

Got so fed up reading this rubbish that I decided to pop over to last year's Round One thread, where people will recall we drew with a team at the bottom of the National League, for a comparison.
Some things don't change, but we had less possession,  many less shots and were much more rubbish than yesterday.
We scored our two goals there very much against the run of play.
A few days later, we drew (lost on penalties) away at Liverpool and all was well again. That's football.

I'd never criticise David Clowes the man. He pumped an insane amount of money into us and saved us from the abyss. For that, he'll always have my admiration and gratitude as he should of every Derby County fan. I also don't think he's been completely wrong in setting the direction. I like the campaign of cleaning up our image, changing our culture and focusing on unity (even if it's not apparent right now). However, I think he's made a whopper of a mistake with both Warne and Rosenior. He appears on the face of it to be doubling down. I guess all we can see is what happens.

Those 3 are part of a group I see on twitter all the time, and they seem to exclusively post bad takes. Most of them come off as fairly naïve so i tend to write it off due to age. Advocating for Mike Ashley over DC feels like a new level of stupidity has been unlocked though 😂

I was very vocal about my dislike of Morris.  I could see through his lies and insincerity.
For that I was often shot down in pieces on here for my views on that horrible man.
However, you hear no such thing from me about David Clowes.  We wouldn't have a club if it wasn't for him.  However, I do feel as if he does not have the financial clout that is needed to run a football club and I would welcome him bringing in some other entrepreneur to share the burden of bringing this club back to where we should be.
Comparing Morris with Clowes is like comparing a rat with a lion

I think that David Clowes should get a free pass.
This is down to an opinion, not a factual decision or anything designed to circumvent the rules. If he is keeping the wolf from the door and he thinks that Warne is the man to take us forward then that is his perogative, as the only man to step forward and put his money where his mouth is.
Disagree with his opinion if you want, but he should not be criticised for backing his judgement.

Did Ritchie Barker say anything different to what Juergen Klopp and 90 odd others managers would have said, or have said in the past.  Can you imagine what Brian Clough would have said asked the question?

Is it even possible (without 22 other teams receiving significant points deductions) to have guaranteed automatic promotion by the end of October 😀
On a serious note, I agree he is probably looking to sell on as soon as he reasonably can but I'm not sure he was relying on (or even expecting) promotion in year one. I therefore don't think it's backfired on him yet.

Properly get pelters for this as 80% seem to have made their mind up over Warne, but anyone else just had enough with the constant negativity towards the players and staff? It’s relentless.
Even after last nights win I’m seeing people try and twist it negatively, overall last night we played faster tempo had chances and won end off, so why the negativity?
Warnes come out and said last night about blocking outside noise out, really think knocking them will help? It’ll only make it worse, 5 in 11 for Collins decent return, what’s booing him and giving him stick going to do? Why can’t we get behind them? We’re in league 1 we won’t have world beaters that will do everything so perfectly.

1 defeat in 10 due to some terrible refereeing it’s not anywhere near as bad as people are making out, it’s as if we’ve won 1 in 10.
I can be as negative as anyone and as annoyed as anyone when we drop points etc but it’s the bigger picture move on we go again, It’s not an easy league like people expect, Sunderland sheff united Ipswich Bolton etc all got stuck for time, and probably only Bolton started in a worse rebuild situation as us…
it’s absolutely draining all the constant ‘get him gone’ ‘whose next’ ‘he’s just a P.E teacher’ I’ve missed 1 away game and 1 home and it’s honestly making me not want to go, Blackpool people singing ‘warne your football is sh*t’ then 5 minutes later singing his name, honestly think if people stop over reacting and seemingly wanting Warne to fail we could get out of this league this year. Rant over roll on the draining stick that’ll come…

As with many similar sized clubs that have been relegated to Lg1 I'm expecting 3-4 season, any less is a bonus given that our starting position was far worse than most of the others.
Whether we'll get back into the Prem is another issue.  We threw money at it and failed, if we are now being run sustainably (as I think we should) then we're gonna be relying on god tier scouting and/or a group of academy graduates all coming through at the same time and achieving promotion before they get poached.

Yet another thread about PW. Very tedious but I’ll reply anyway. 😀
I suspect he already has regular conversations with Warne. As for his patience, I suspect he has more than most of us on this forum and won’t be going into meltdown if we don’t go up this year or even end the season where we are now - 8th.

Having just watched the highlights back (which omit a couple of other half chances our profligate forward line failed to take) I genuinely don’t get those who are saying the overall performance wasn’t good enough. The result wasn’t good enough, but we created enough chances to win the game.

There was passing football, we did keep the ball on the floor at times and played it long at others, we did open them up both down the channels and through the middle, we failed to take the chances created. There’s no way, in the cold light of day, that performance is as bad as some make out. Their goal comes from us tarting around at the back and failing to clear it long, the one thing lots of people claim is the only thing this team does.
The result was not good enough, the performance should have seen us win.

Tough one , fornah , nyambe and nelson look like being beasts in this division , fornah shines out because he is exactly what we have missed in midfield for a very long time and will be so important,
that said though there’s others that signed and look promising that could come through and outshine those three , those who have been insisting that we had a poor window need to give they’re heads a wobble 🤷🏻‍♂️

Every Manager has a “sell by…” date.

The quality of football is important to me but in League 1 the poor quality of referees and the style of most other teams dictates a certain agricultural response is probably more likely to succeed than Rosenior tippy-tappy.
PW is under pressure for the first time in his tenure & so it’s how he deals with the now that is the litmus test. So, let’s see…BUT not impressed with his signings - was due diligence done on Jelly-legs & Co before he gave them the Pride Park postcode? And you simply cannot forget your midfield no matter what the level of football. His judgment seems awry at the moment…he says all the right words but his decision-making is questionable. This first term he gets a C - must do much better.
