He probably has no interest in paying the same amount he was offering in December, but there's no indication (indeed it appears to be the complete opposite) that he's not interested in buying the club....

As a bloke worth around 1.5 billion, a lot in liquid assets, he's not really endearing himself to me at the minute as he could quite easily have purchased us 6 weeks ago and secured the remainder of these young players on contracts- possibly with release clauses as most won't want to play in League 1- thereby holding their value at least.  If we wind up there with 3 players and a 15 point deduction what real interest does he have in making the club competitive again. I don't really give a poo about any of them anymore.  Saw on twitter that people are having accounts closed and police visits.  What the hells all that about.  I'm going to leave this for a bit to avoid the meltdown when tomorrow comes and sod all happens.

It has also been stated in the recent past that football as we know it is not sustainable and a number of clubs will go.

I'll collect the paper plates they'll all be using for us, to save for for all my parties.  Apart from Bristol City, Forest and the thick Neanderthals constantly posting on twitter from Coventry, Boro and Digbeth.  They'll get the best Royal Crown Derby.  I'll stick the OTIB socially deficient society on the guest list for there's.  They could do with a night out and some sunshine away from the basements.

I think that fits with the timescales. Quantuma were supposed to be naming a preferred bidder around then, but it collapsed when the EFL decided that they couldn't cram-down the 'Boro/Wycombe claims.  We went from "making a few singings next week" to releasing Jagielka and Baldock over about 24 hours.

During January, Mike Ashley publicly criticised Quantuma for devaluing the club by selling Plange/Kelleyman etc, so I wonder if he's come back in with a lower bid, refused to up it, and Quantuma have basically said there's no point carrying on with you then, we have better offers.

I don't recall that .  If he did, it's highly unlikely to me he has any particular interest at this stage.

Relatively simple question, not aimed to try and create a slinging match about MM. No libellous or personal insults about Morris as per forum rules please.

Based on the news/speculation from Percy today, it seems the only way we can avoid -15 is if the stadium price is dropped. Realistically that's the only part of the charge for the Club that can be dropped to make it cheaper. We might still have some interest if we end up with -15 in next season, but for a League One team with half a starting 11 I doubt it.

Mel Morris came out of the blue to sort the Gibson issue when it didn't look likely. Do you think he'll do the same last minute for the stadium to allow somebody to buy the Club without the -15 next season and further restrictions, making us a hugely more attractive proposition.

When it comes down to it, you have to ask, whether a man of his wealth would really see the Club he apparently supports and loves, go to the wall so he can keep what would be a then relatively worthless stadium. Morris would be the one who loses out, not the prospective buyers. People with that money to buy a Club will wait for another to come along. Morris can't exactly wait for another Club to come along for his stadium...

When you say cave, do you mean like some modern Smaug lying asleep on top of Pride Park or perhaps one stuffed with  golden shares and the admin team need to say open sesame to get something happening

Don’t see why there isn’t a fourth option - the bidder offers to lease the ground and say buy it outright in 3-5 years time, with the value based on which league we’re in.

I get that a buyer couldn’t replace Pride Park for the cash Mels asking, but neither is the ground much use to him if the new owner gives him the Vs and goes down a more radical route. Paying somewhere between a nominal and market rent gets the deal done now (until the next sticking point comes out of the woodwork)

Needs to be some form of compromise to get a deal done and the stadium doesn’t need to be a day 1 deal blocker.

Your quite right .  I've been saying this on here since October - earlier again today in fact.  He would really have to hand it over having got 10 million back though over 5 years and not get the full amount unless we wind up back in the big league.

    Mel has nothing to lose.

He either gets the 22 million or whatever it is for the stadium, or he keeps a stadium worth an alleged 80 million.

If he keeps the stadium he will no doubt stick a roof on and turn it into a performance venue.

Mel won't take a hair cut.

Good luck him getting anyone from Derby attending that venue in the future to cover the cost of the roof.

Quite. It sounds suspiciously like a threat to me. Mods?

Breaking news.  Local businessman may be rather unwelcome in a city that loses a 140 year old historic institution because he overspent, didn't meet his financial obligation, then wanted money back preventing it's recovery'.  Also likely, as can be seen in any city centre on a weekend that many are more volatile and have a shorter fuse than others. Not really a threat is it, just stating the bleeding obvious.  Sure he's aware himself.

Much of the value is relative to assets. I have no idea what Ipswich have, Stadium,  Training Facility, maybe other property and land.

Newcastle owned a lot of land prior to MA buying the club. A lot of the land was sold off and is being redeveloped.

Derby County has little in the form of assets. No Stadium, doesn't own the land at the Training Facility (leased from Locko Estate), barely any players etc

The monies being asked for the club is literally to clear debt. The club has little or no value in the grand scheme of things. Any buyer needs the Stadium to try and make the figures stack up in terms of payback.

Obviously the revenue that can be generated from matchdays and other usage. I know that just a few years ago, the club income included over £1m a year from the Renewable Heat Incentive for using Biomass Heating at the Stadium (and at Moor Farm). Who gets that revenue now?

How much land around the Stadium is owned by the Stadium owner? How much of that could be sold and redeveloped?

The Stadium is critical to the clubs value going forward and therefore to a sale so far as I can see.

They sold a big chunk of that to JJB sports last time they were in the poo.  The car park belonged to the club.

Makes you wonder how Mel made the money he has

Saw an interview with Richard Branson once where he stated he was terrible at maths and had no idea how profit and loss works.  Entrepreneurs are not necessarily brains of Britain, they just like taking risks that sometimes pay off and sometimes don't .  The idea is you do it with your own money  and business model like Branson did with launching Virgin coke and lost millions or Virgin airways that made billions and not with a huge community asset that will destroy a city if it goes pear shaped.

  10. Add an Anya and a Blackman together with a couple of years wages.  That's all he's losing.  Saving a football club he supposedly supports is far better value for money surely. I still consider this digging in of heels ensuring he has money to deal with Gibsons 'accord' should it go pear shaped.  Just a way of getting any new buyer to cover this through the back door.  It won't work.  I wonder if he's still including his rent since September in this deal listed in the EFL misery bulletin as something still not paid the other month.  How much is that ? on top.

Give the ground back and pay the loan and on we go.  You might even get away with renting it at a couple of million a year with a hand over in 5 years as an alternative.  Tie in a further 10 million payment if we ever do get back to the top division . Do something man.  Said the other week that the 28 million plus 2 was a great offer and likely best offer we get at this stage.  Pure insanity to not keep it and work with it.

He’ll be on his way to Burnley for a tenner in the summer then

That will be Knight after we've bartered up for a month from £2.50.  The 15 year olds go to Man Utd as a pack of Three to pay for a player on loan for 3 months whose permanently injured and makes 4 starts.  That's how we do it round here.

    @DERBY5HIRE

this is what I have: Q1 - there are 2 bids, at just below the threshold to secure "golden share" at 40 mil 1 UK 1 US, BUT! the bids are NOT enough to pay football creditors and HMRC. That's all I have, for now, no idea when admin will make formal announcement #dcfc

it refreshing that Q can trust Andy to keep what he is told to himself and not share it on Social media??????

Always love the HMRC won't take a penny less why should they quotes in these as they increase the amount owed by a few million.  You know they're Forest nobbers without looking.  Sure non of these nobbers would ever do a job cash in hand, just like those over on Many twits In Bristol.  The bastions of the exchequer are alive and well. Perhaps they should be as vocal about the 600 million in business grants for covid handed out to those with second homes in Cornwall who registered as businesses just as these grants came out, or other similar scams.  Strange their only concern is the sum Derby owe, of which at least half will have to be paid.

Watkins has his third goal for England tonight . We could of got him in 2018 from Exeter for £2 mill. He is now worth more than DCFC. Football is just crazy.

Some fella we could have had for 700k less than that scored for Turkey against Italy earlier.  We signed a fella at 3 times the cost instead whose now retired to America at 23 and we still owe 2 million on him.

George Clooney net worth £377m, Jack O'Connell is worth £1.7m, Jason Statham £379m, Wayne Rooney £120m, Robert Lindsay £3.03m and Niall Horan £53m. Are they part of the unknown 3rd bidding team ?

Unlikely as he has the affliction of following Forest.  Even worse, how can someone so grimly untalented, whose films are totally and utterly bank bar a couple of comedic gangster capers, have been paid so much money.

I’ve been to a nightclub pretty much every week since they’ve reopened, plus a music festival and 40+ Derby games and still haven’t caught it!

At a a current infection rate that should cover everyone in the UK within about 13 weeks this is probably 'imminent'. You may possibly get the preferred variant within 48 hrs .

I genuinely hope Forest go up this season. It may reignite my interest in the Premier League to see how they do.

The PL is garbage these days. Liverpool and City just miles ahead, and have been for 5 years now.

Chelsea are a decent cup team. But in the league, nobody will get close to City or Liverpool until Pep or Klopp leave.

The bottom three are just made up of yo-yo clubs and Burnley who you’d expect to finally drop down.

The PL needs fresh blood. Fulham and Bournemouth will be awful additions.

Luton would be kind of cool too but I’d see them as another Blackpool. Could never realistically stay there.

Forest going up would be interesting.
