I like what Bristol do, live band stage and beer sales outside, we have the room to take it further, maybe a food court with something other than burger vans,  develop the bar at the back of the SS for instance with music or a screen, decent cover from the rain, seating and heaters, but most importantly, OUTSIDE TOILETS.

They have no time for such fun surely.  They prefer to spend their time in a darkened basement studying our finances and working out hypothetical points deductions. Bet they pee in bottles and collect it as well, so forget the toilets and save on that 413k a week they're losing would be my advice.

I get that, and do the same myself.

But why do we do that, it's surely not out of loyalty to pub company's and taxi firms, ahead of pumping that money into our own club.

We do it because the offering at the ground is poor, so there's no reason to turn up earlier than necessary.

Truthfully, I'm a creature of habit .  Its something I'll always do. Part of the nostalgia factor and as a city those pubs - bar the Wetherspoons which could probably get away with it- do need that match day money.  Probably why the councils interested in the ground .  No club equals a huge drop in rent to turnover business rates.  I can see the other side of it via dragging my nephews along to continue the next generation of forced misery, that more things to do might be good.  I guarantee if they opened a McDonalds Franchise and a proper chip shop somewhere round the stadium or in it they'd make a load of money before and after the game.  One for the kids and one for me turning up after a few beers. All those away fans who've travelled since 8 in the morning stuffing themselves with fish cakes.  Guaranteed winner.

Lack of fire power does not help if we had one or two more scoring people midfield would help chip in with goals.

Your right and I said the same at the start of the season.  Unless Sibleys playing like a donkey in training, we could have utilised him more as an option.  He has 10-12 goals in him from midfield but seemingly doesn't fit .  He'll probably be gone in the summer and next year they'll have people on Quest talking about why he wasn't utilised more as he gets 10 in 15 for somebody.

Americans are always obsessed with improving the match day experience, aren't they?

Maybe because their sporting culture is very different to ours, with their sports take a while longer to play, with frequent built in breaks in the action?

Our culture is very different, mostly involving getting to the ground at the last minute possible after spending our cash elsewhere on route. They'll have to seriously up the catering provision to change that.

I went to a game at the Tottenham stadium when it first opened, and you could tell it had been designed as much around the fans as the team.

Massive outdoor area with multiple food and drink options, loads of seating and artificial grass to sit on, and a decent amount of toilets. The prices were genuinely reasonable too, cheaper than the surrounding pubs and food vans. Inside the stadium, they're not concourses as such, but massive food halls.

A pint of Beavertown ranges from £3.80 to £5, depending on the drink, far cheaper than the pub prices in London, and indeed around here.

We've taken a step forward recently with the reopening of the Fan Park, and the Yard was a welcome addition, but if we had the vision, and funding, we could do so much more, a Yard on each home corner would be good, not a coffee bar. Coffee takes 5 times longer to serve, and offers far less profit than a pint.

The question is, would whatever they offer change fan behaviour?

Spurs also have a cheese room.  Turning up at a football ground to sample cheese. No thanks.  Those pubs in town rely on the match day trade greatly.  Staying in a pub till 2.40 and trying to get a Yellow taxi to get there by kick offs part of the fun.  If I take my nephews though, I get there in plenty of time.  At least for a few more years, till they take up the trying to get a yellow taxi  having been in the pubs in town till 2.40. And on we go in perpetuity.

His recent tweets about improving the matchday experience are really encouraging. It looks like he's going to bring a fresh perspective, which is great.

If he actually has the money, I'm fully behind him.

    It's just a big 'if'.

I can heartily recommend not being 5 wins behind everyone else and signing a few players.

I've watched the first 2 episodes of the lfinal series of Peaky Blinders.

    Does it get better?

It's not horrible, but I'm not sure I'd stick with it if I'd not watched the first 5. Certainly not even close to that standard and seems all a bit self-indulgent.

No it's dog poo.  Shame for what had started brilliant 5 years ago.  No real purpose for the whole Mosley thing at all and more holes than Swiss cheese.

A hell of a lot of effort mate. Can't divulge too much because I'd struggle getting shirts shirts in the future if everyone started doing it. But its time, money and effort consuming. I'll tell you in person over a pint but not posting it for all to see. Haha

Steve Hodge is selling the Maradona hand of god shirt, last valued in early 2000s at 250k.  Worth a bit more know I'd say.

Saw this one sell at Hansons - went to Munich for a fair bit of money.

One upcoming item is Franz Beckenbauer's 1966 semi-final shirt which will be offered at Derbyshire saleroom Hansons in their World Cup sale on June 30, estimated at £4000-£6000.

Beckenbauer's shirt has come to auction after being discovered in a house in the local area - the 1966 West Germany squad stayed at The Peveril of the Peak hotel in Ashbourne, Derbyshire. While most teams preferred to stay in cities, the German team arrived in the small market town on July 14.

He handed his match shirt to policeman Sergeant Walter Turner on July 28, 1966. As Ashbourne became a hunting ground for football fans seeking autographs, Sgt Turner was instructed to stand guard to stop them entering the hotel.

He said at the time: "It was an honour mixing with such great sportsmen and the German players would call me Mr Bobby. The German team simply wanted some peace and quiet in the quaint Derbyshire town of Ashbourne."

He was rewarded when the team left for London before the final. A squad member had tried to press some money into his hand, said Sgt Turner, "but I refused and asked instead for his shirt. The team had just returned from a victorious meeting with the Russians, and I was handed a white shirt still warm and damp with sweat - it was Number 4, Beckenbauer's".

Beckenbauer had actually scored in the game against the Soviet Union (Russia), on July 25 at Everton's ground, Goodison Park, in a 2-1 win.

    You are digging it out.
Do you want this takeover to fail

No one wants anything to fail, unfortunately this chap isn't the normal ' I have an international company and you can see I make 80 million profit a year' investor which leads to far less questions.  I have a jet worth 22 million and made money from crypto raises concern after the last two years and seeing the Wigan debacle unfold.  No point hounding him over where he has money from if that's all he's willing to say but while Alonsos crib was a bit of a giggle, we're now a club that has too satisfy a committee to move forward,  bring in at least 15-20 players under restriction, settle debt,  accept largely reduced levels of tv money, golden share money and sponsorship and he has to negotiate with Morris who has publicly lambasted over the stadium, as well as fund an entity by x amount of millions on an annual basis. The only reason he's interested is that the council involvement may make it easier and we're still talking about a 15 point deduction on top despite that initial funding relief of having to find 20 plus million to secure the stadium.  I'd also point out that most of the questions he appears to get are genuine questions apart from one fella with a bee in his bonnet, idiots from down the road and Preston fans who have got all riled up.

He's getting this attention based on track record and willingness to publicly answer questions and could at any time thank people for the questions and say nowt.  That's his choice.

    Excellent Questions!!!!

Quite a few people have been suggesting that the Council can turn a profit on renting to us for £1M or £2M per season!  Fantasy Island.

A fair rent might actually be over £5M per season if the Council is not going to be increasing our council tax further.

The cost of running a football stadium for 12 months (the Boro costs from a few years ago):

    • Business Rates = £1.2M
    • Utility Bills (Gas, Water, Electricity) = £760K
    • Fire, Theft, Liability Insurance = £380K
    • Police Costs = £300K
    • Other Security, Surveillance, CCTV = £300K
    • Medical Presence (Paramedics etc.) = £400K
    • VAT = £1.4M
    • Ticket Office, Hospitality & Kiosks = £2.5M plus £300K N.I.
    • Stewards & PT Staff = £400K
    • Ground Maintenance = £400K
    • Stadium Cleaning = £345K
    • Cleaning Equipment & Sundries = £250K

Who's going to pay these costs? Mel, the council?  The income from tickets, match days and sponsorship will soon get swallowed up.  We need the new owner to buy PPS as well as the club.

That's going to be the running cost -although seems high and will also include quite a sum for celebrity Derby old boys paid to sit with you, hand out motm etc, which could be removed ,but you won't run hospitality or a ticket office at a loss, you'll make money on that to assist with the other bits.

Not sure it’s a plus that the council indicated they might buy the stadium. If they hadn’t I’d have thought MM would be more likely to do a deal w CK, rather than hoping the council will give him more

I' m fine with it.  At least it's got a level of protection going forward.

Now now, everyone knows football was invented in 1992 and talk of any superficially similar sports before that date is entirely coincidental.... ?

Bit like a few years ago they were banging on about goals in consecutive games and Harry Kane breaking the top flight record, totally forgetting someone scoring in 12 straight games for Sheff Utd in the thirties

  12. We're only about one away game from our worst run of defeats in 40 years apparently,  don't know if we've had worse ones .  Surely in that period of time - in fact through the season -we could have come up with another plan or personnel fit to make some adjustment .  Jagielka and Shinnie would have helped but there must have been a different option to dig 6/7 points out of those games .

I can’t work out what will happen with Bielik.

We sell him and likely end up owing Arsenal more than we get.

We loan him out for a year and hope he is either worth more at the end of the season or that we get promoted again and he can play for us again.

He stays and risks losing his place in the Poland squad.

He was quite vocal in the Polish media when he signed that he wanted to be playing in the top division within 2 years and would be looking at his future if we hadn't gone up.  I remember that clearly as I found it a bit crappy he was talking about it only a few weeks after signing.  Two knee ops have probably curtailed that one for a while, however,  I'm pretty sure his agent will have negotiated a few release clauses in his contract at certain payment values to make a move easy as possible.

Apparently mate you might be making their Arthur Lowe list.  Planning on making a banner it seems with his face on, not that anyone outside Mordor will get the joke, as no one actually seems to know who the feck this 'world famous' team are.  Seeing as Arthur Lowe was a huge Derby County fan however, I'll look forward to one of our own being celebrated in such style at their shed.  Morons.

This guy is always downbeat about DCFC. He seems to revel in looking on the bleak side just so he can say "I told you so"

I would imagine if you have 2 million quid riding on it, you pay a hundred quid to get it expatiated.  As a full international should be about 10 minutes.  As this deal took about 5 weeks to be finalised with his injury, this fellas talking poo I reckon.

They also have litigious Mr Gibson with his axe to grind.

The "we're going to make an example of Derby" narrative has played it's part, only we've been spoiling it by staying up last year and doing our best this year.

You still see comments floating around the internet to the effect of if we're not relegated we've not been punished.

    Just checked .
