It does not help to ignore the actual 2nd game of the season, especially when the first half display provoked such an audible critical reaction.
Warne will be given plenty of time, deservedly so, but today it would help if some of his new signings displayed why they were signed.

I think we are in a really good place.
Warne is building the squad in his image. He has been backed and his vision has been backed but in a sensible way that won’t endanger the club’s future.
Of course there is still work to be done and of course we have to see how it translates on the pitch but the signs look good to me.
Are we clear favourites for promotion? No. Are we guaranteed to succeed? No. Is there grounds for optimism? Absolutely. Can we judge Warne from here on in? No question.
With each passing day, this looks more and more like a Warne team. He is bringing in the characters, the leaders, the grafters, the example-setters that he wants.
Top six looks like a fair target and expectation at the moment, because there is a nagging feeling that something is missing for top 2.
I am confident of a positive season. We only look two or three forward players away from being a team no-one will want to face.

Having had a season ticket in the early 1970s, yes!
DCFC have zero chance of another European Cup semi-final whilst I am drawing breath.
But since then there have been some great times, most recently the 2021/22 season when we saw on the pitch a totally commited squad and off it a united community fighting to ensure the club survived. Being in the Premier League is not the be all and end all for me so I continue to be a season ticket holder, not least as we have the best owner for many years

Ah, come on. Davies was the last manager to get us promoted to the Premier League, and when he got there found out a) he didn't have the squad or the tactics to compete and b) there wasn't any money to buy better players.
Yes we were awful that year, and yes Davies didn't exactly cover himself in glory with some of the things he said when he left.
But he isn't a worse Derby manager than Nigel Pearson.

Like you I don't mind if we get promoted or not. Last season was a miserable experience but it saw a tremendous unity and a bond between supporters and players - we saw they really cared, relegation was down to others. That bond remains, as the attendance figures show.
My neighbour is a Blades fan and everything he has said to me about David McGoldrick has been confirmed by what we have seen on the pitch. What a player, hopefully he will be with us next season!

Can only look at the results against those you might be playing.  At any given stage of a season any team might be top half and flying.  Cambridge were 7th when we beat them.  Oxford were expected to be playoff contenders first game having kept hold of their best player etc.  Not much in any of the top 7 teams in this league as it stands.  We've only lost twice to the top 2 and with some controversy in two of those.

Just watched PW’s pre-match Pompey. Highly verbally intelligent as always and a lovely tribute to the fans and Pride Park at the end which moistened the eyes. It’s not over yet I know …but regardless of whether we get play-offs or not, what are the 3 stand-outs which will stick in the memory for you for League One 2022/23; they don’t have to be positive, just stand-out and season-defining. Mine:
    1. David McGoldrick - sublime. I used to watch Charlie George like a hawk and still marvel at the memories. Didzy is up there with Charlie for me. Wonderful feet and vision and contribution which will stick in my memory bank.

    2. Standard of Refereeing: All I’ll say is that it has on the whole been like one long episode of the League of Gentlemen & Inside Number 9 rolled into one. Port Vale at home!?! What did we do to deserve these refs? They are caricatures of themselves.

    3. Max Bird away at Cheltenham - 2nd goal - “he must have a foot like a trac-shun-En-gin!” …What a goal.

If the season ends on Sunday 7th so be it. I’ve really enjoyed it and we have next season. 🐏

I've loved this season. Up and downs for sure, but in context, it's been a belter and it's not over yet despite every other club being 'desperate to get us in the play-offs' 🙄
The ship has been bought and paid for, steadied, even given a lick of paint here and there and whatever the outcome, it feels like we have the right custodian at the helm.
Looking forwards, we're still firmly in the promotion hunt, we're re-finding some of the form that saw us go 16 unbeaten and we've only one more season left to play under Rick & Trev's sanctions before the shackles come off and we are 100% free of EFL interference forever. Honestly, what's not to like?
On to my not terribly imaginative top 3 moments...
    1. Clowes announces purchase of stadium. There were some weird suggestions on here that it did not necessarily follow that he'd then buy the club, but for me, that was the moment I knew the Club was safe from Fat Mike's sweaty little hands, or worse still, the liquidator.
    2. The first transfer window; it made my head spin! One minute, we've only 5 contracted senior players then we've got McGoldrick, Collins, Barks, NML, Chester, Roberts et al. After what had gone before it felt like Christmas morning as a kid and the resurgence of belief and pride in the club was tangible.
    3. Didzy; 25 goals and 7 assists in 43 games played for the club. There's a poster on here who needs to imagine this season without him, rather than trying to mug him off as a flat track bully to people who watch him play every week.

Warne will be sacked at the final whistle.
Millennium Ram will name his first child Nombe.

You’re just the type of poster on this site I am aiming at. All criticism but no back up ideas on how to inject any pace, aggression into the existing players. You cannot change a players basic makeup, or very rarely. We need some different types of player to meld in with the better ones we have. You cannot make Bird run with greater pace or tackle like Norman Hunter but can can provide someone to win the ball, give it to Bird, who can then move it forward.
We do not currently have those players, we need change (not the Manager)
You give no credible solutions, just moan at what we have.
