Turnstile reacted to Bob The Badger in My admiration for Rooney has shot up
He has zero to do with the issues we now find ourselves in, but he has acted with utter class.
He's had no money and is playing a number of players he knows aren't good enough (at least at the moment) without a word of complaint publicly.
He's just got on with his job and tried to get this team playing decent football with one hand tied behind his back, wearing lead boots and being made to wear a balaclava the wrong way around.
And then he hears about going into administration on TV like the rest of us and rather than whining or walking out he gets on with his job.
I really like what I'm seeing, especially when you consider he's in his first year of management and the second youngest boss in the entire football league.
He should have control of this team if/when he has money to spend, or at the very least until the end of this season.
If he does walk or get pushed, I for one will be bitterly disappointed.

Turnstile reacted to G STAR RAM in Mel Morris interview on Radio Derby 1pm
I'm afraid things just don't add up still for me.
This situation is all down to Covid (MM)
We have a sustainable model (club statement)
Covid cost us £20m income (MM)
I have been writing a cheque of between £1.5m and £2m per month (MM).
So how since 30 June 2018 have we managed to burn through the £80m received for the ground, plus 2 years worth of season ticket money, not paid HMRC in excess of £20m and also ran up debts with Gabay and MSD.
Must be something wrong with my calculator!

Right that’s done. I never want to hear from that man again.
Goodbye, Mel Morris. And good riddance.

Those slamming Mel should pause for a moment to think about his intentions.
I do not - for a minute - think he's intended to run the club down.
He has spent millions, not to run the club into debt, but to chase the dream. We all supported that chase.
Even though he's managed things badly, which he admits, I do believe that he genuinely thinks the only way he can get new owners in is to put the club into administration.
I'm very far from happy about that, actually been crying about it, but I think it's sincere on his part.

Well done, Ed Dawes. You asked the questions, didn't press him but let him speak and we got a true version of the man.
I feel like I have a much better understanding of why we are where we are. But the conclusion I had already reached has not changed.

This is turning into a trainwreck for him now. He has a chance to try to salvage a small portion of respect from the fans. He is failling spectacularly. I thought he was unpopular before the interview. At this rate he is going to be downright hated to the core after this.

Chris Coles told us weeks ago that Mel’s funding of the club would not continue for ever. Came directly from the club. Can’t blame the journalists if people don’t listen

Turnstile reacted to G-Ram in Notice to appoint administrators
I was really annoyed last night when the news broke. I was close to posting something about Mel that would have restulted in a warning.
However this morning I'm more calmer. I'm getting too old, I've lost interest in football over the last couple of years and starting to emotionally detach myself. I'm losing the love for the game in general.
The Premier League is ruining football with the money. Grass roots kids football is political with coaches & parents thinking its the champions league final when they don't even keep scores at that age. Then the farce that is Mel Morris' time in charge.
I feel sorry for the people who rely on the club for a living. I feel sorry for all the die hards who its more than a club. I feel sorry for all the kids that support us who won't have witnessed any good times & who's interest in football might be lost.
Football really isnt that fun anymore

Yup, exactly the same happened to me at intu.
Luckily I could see he was talking a stack of lies and got out before it folded. Just so happened he sold a load of shares 1 week before it went under.
they’re all the same

I'm sorry but Morris put the bullets in the gun. 100% his fault.

Turnstile reacted to DCFC Kicks in Players Derby have ruined, and why are there so many?
It's funny how almost every aspect of the club recently seems to be in a perpetual state of change, but the one part that never changes is the constantly failing recruitment team.

We’re not good enough that’s why Rooney wanted 8 more players. His tactics are woeful though ,as bad as cocu’s.The players just look like rabbits in car headlight.Morris is the one killing us but Rooney seems totally inept.

Turnstile reacted to G-Ram in Melvyn Morris fan club
Ive never met him & in real life he could well be a very nice man.
Its nice of him to give to charities / set up charity
Still doesn't make him a good chairman. You can be a nice bloke and totally dog poo at your job or this case running a football club. I don't hate him i don't know him but i hate what he's done to the club & his poor decisions
Sooner he goes the better

Turnstile reacted to Jourdan in Club comms
I don’t agree with the lack of transparency coming out of the club.
But let’s be honest, trust between the fans and the club is broken.
Would we even believe what the club has to say?
I know that if Stephen Pearce told me Ankara was the capital of Turkey, I would have to ask 100 Geography teachers just to be sure.

Wouldnt trust morris to run a bath let alone the football club. Were a shambles. Give us a two season ban we cant afford anyone anyway

Its all part of the same issue Bucko
Mel has decided thats he's out now, he will not spend another penny if it can possibly be avoided and he does not care about any ‘collateral damage’ in achieving his aim.
Doesn't mean to say he wont spend anything. But he wont if it doesn't add value to his situation.
It takes a certain type of character to be able to carry out and sustain this attitude. Such characters are few and far apart, but we know that Mel is one of them.
This also explains the brinkmanship being played out with the EFL and HMRC. Mel is playing his cards, not from the football clubs’ point of view, but from his and his familys point of view. If they ( the EFL and HMRC) overplayed their hands, he could easily take the administration option. And they would lose.
This is nothing new in football. The same has happened at Villa ( Lerner) , Sunderland ( Short) and Ipswich ( Evans). Three very high profile and historic clubs.
He’s a very smart cookie, he's made his decision and lets hope he rides off into the sunset as soon as possible !
