My 23 year old grandson (works for BBC in Manc, supports Hull City) went to the game v ManU and ‘bumped’ into Warne, Clowes and ex ram Kevin Wilson.  He said Clowes was happy to chat and that Clowes said he ‘may have to put his hand in his pocket’ in Jan. Grandson also said young rams deserved more from the game and was impressed by the ‘lad up front’. Brown?

Just listened to PW interview after the game last night and something isn’t right.

For him to say “until you’re told different I’ll prepare the team for the next game”.

Clearly conversations are being had for him to say that. The players will know that and if they don't want him there, performances like that get him gone.

It's a strange one, I expected us to make the playoffs at the start of the season and we've only just missed out. I wouldn't say it's a disgrace or a bottlejob, we've just lacked that killer instinct from February onwards and have been desperately unlucky today. Disappointed but we go again next season.

Won't be a popular school of thought, but next season is the season where we need to get promoted. Happy-clapper I may well be, but if we went up this season with the current restrictions in place, I fear we'd be hideously outgunned. Of course, this season is not over yet, not by a long shot, but I'd not be too upset were we to miss out this year, re-group, plug a few gaps and then hit the Championship the following year with no finance-related monkeys on our back; free of soft or hard embargos, free of debt, free of wage cap, free of EFL business plan... These are surely the sunlit uplands for most Derby fans and the more I think of it, the more I feel that this is probably what Mr Clowes has envisaged as the most achievable and arguably the most optimal route forward.
For balance, I made it clear from the outset that I had reservations about PW's credentials and how effective his style would be outside of L1, but the good run of form he and the team produced mostly quelled those fears, that is until we came of the rails. As someone who always wants to see managers given time to build a team (something they've not had at Derby for a decade), he remains just about in the black. That said, the argument that Warne has been found out against more canny managers holds water and our record against the better L1 clubs is frankly appalling. At the outset, us doubters were informed that Warne had more than one style and could adapt to our current roster, but that has not proven to be the case, so doubts linger about both his tactical nous, and the suitability of the type of players he might recruit trying to implement it. Put simply, will he recruit a top L1 team for a campaign in the Championship. Equally, will pump it down the channels to the quick lads be an effective strategy in the Championship? I think we need to finish the season as strongly as we can and take stock. There's some big decisions ahead, whatever the outcome and the fairest and most accurate assessment of Warne will be when he has a deeper squad with a full -pre-season in their legs.
A last thought, would be that those sticking small knives into David Clowes really, really need to STFU. Without him there'd be no Derby County. The same people repeatedly tell other folk we need to 'move on' and forget what happened, but they are simply trying to scrub history so they can whine about anything and everything with impunity. While for me, Warne's 'credit' is under review, Mr Clowes retains a 'AAA' rating. I find the lack of appreciation and loyalty in some quarters really depressing, not to mention a bit distasteful.

I can't believe some folk are already moaning, and calling for LR's head.  Love how all the "I don't care what happens this season, I'm just glad we still have our club" enthusiasm has evaporated after 6 games.  I think some folks should give their heads a wobble, and realise that from the position we were in 6 weeks ago, to even be competitive is a minor miracle.  And speaking of heads, a little context, if Jason Knight could head a ball, we'd have got something from 2 of these away games and been 4 points better off.  Fine margins.  Goals will come.

Not a breakdown in the traditional sense (v2)...
    Early 80/81 season.
After witnessing a mighty fine 0-0 draw at Loftus Rd in a League cup 1st leg, I was heading home from work a week or so later... 03/09/80... push bike... Celanese to Chad... via the A52 Dual Carriageway... looking forward to that evenings second leg at home...
Woke up in the back of an ambulance... with the motorbiker who had knocked me off lying on the other side, sighing a huge sigh that I was still alive!  The motorbike had hit me side on (Entering A52 from the Raynesway slip) and literally folded my bike in half, sending me skidding along the tarmac ahead of approaching traffic moving at full pelt!)  (Police Reports said I had to be pulled from under a Jag, that just about managed to stop in time!)  Just glad I was unconscious throughout, and don't remember a thing!
...Skin removed from half my face... shoulder bone broke (still sticks out to this day)... and a hole in my calf (Scarred for life), where the bone was sticking out!
(Luckily I resisted picking the scabs, and my face eventually healed scar free!)

As you might imagine, I didn't actually get to the game that evening (Half fan!), but we lost on pens anyway, so duck 'em!  ?
Made my return with leg in plaster, and on crutches, on the terrace at Grimsby on the 13th... 10 days later!

To be fair Alan Shearer wasn’t playing. I think the missing 20,000 from their premiership attendances were probably busy or in a meeting. If you think how much they have spent on players like Ben Brer Rabbit Diaz then you can see on those gates why we are cheats and public enemy number one. Mind you, I’m sure if someone like Stoke sold their ground to themselves for 70 odd million the EFL and Boro would be all over it and there would be embargoes and tribunals galore. I’m glad the EFL are there to ensure everything is fair and above board.

Disappointing to see the Wayne rant, I thought the replay didn't show enough for the Festy foul. Putting aside everything happening off the pitch, we only have ourselves to blame for last night. Dominated possession all game and created 1 clear cut chance. Not good enough. We’re in a hole and the only way out is bravery (which we’re not short of) to get your head up and play the ball forward or run at your man at times. Too many occasions yesterday where Plange is through if we play it, we’re on the edge of the box and refuse to hit it or we’ve got a fullback/winger in a one-on-one and we’ve come backwards. Need to do better if we’re to stay up.
