Many years ago, I was heavily involved with a cricket website called CricketWeb.
There was an absolutely anally retentive poster on there who was totally obsessed with cricketers who he considered to be 'Flat Track Bullies' - batters who went huge a few times a season and had, in his opinion, over-inflated averages heavily skewed by 'big scores' - some of which were registered after a let-off (missed run out, LBW decision in his favour, dropped catch - you get the idea).
Players he considered to be FTBs included Brian Lara, Sachin Tendulkar, Jacques Kallis etc. So obsessed was he with this nonsense that he went through their career records and worked out 'new' averages for them assuming that the 'missed chance' had been an actual dismissal. Needless to say, their averages were 'reduced' - and he took this as 'proof'.
I asked him to perform the same exercise for others he considered to be more worthy of a lofty average, but for some reason he wouldn't.
Bris probably thinks that Haaland is rubbish because he hasn't scored against Liverpool.

Tin hat on, but I've often thought that those that obsess over stats to justify their opinions need to spend a bit more time watching the football and a bit less time with their eyes on their phones. Stats can be useful - to a point - but obsessing over them takes the joy out of watching a craftsman at work.....

I enjoy his disguised passes, dummies, flicks and tricks as well as his goals and assists. Its what you try to do as kids down the park or as adults against your kids and grandkids, with your mates for an impromptu kick a round.
Like you say, a craftsman at work, an entertainer.
He's also a great pro who works bloody hard every game.
Stats are nowt compared to those little moments of magic you see during a game.

The ongoing business plan is a strange requirement, I think.
The new owners are not the old owners. There is no reason to think they need any more help achieving "stability" than the owners of any other club. It's not like "the club" is some independent thing which is inherently unstable. Derby just had (highly) unstable ownership.
So the business plan only makes sense as an ongoing punishment. In which case: is that really fair? Would we think it fair if the EFL said: "If a club goes into administration, it will lose 12 points in the first season, and six points in each of the next two"?
To me, it makes a great deal of sense to have strict rules on the losses clubs can make, strict rules to close potential loopholes (and personally I'd include in that things like cross-selling stadiums), and severe punishments for those who breach the rules. But the rules should be - as far as possible - aimed at the seasons in which the rule breaking took place, so that a) it's targeted at the owners who breached the rules, and b) it prevents clubs profiting from breaking the rules.
What is the justification for a punishment which hangs over the club long after the people who breached the rules have gone?
