  1. Found out on Friday that I’ve got a charity place for the London marathon. I lost a very close friend in March. He had lived with MS for over 20 years and ended up in a wheelchair (although it was covid that got him), so I’m raising money for the MS Society.

I started running a couple of years ago and did the Birmingham half marathon in May. The furthest I’ve run is 15 miles but I think I’ll be ok. My worry is my body falling apart - I’m 47, I’ve had one knee operation and my back isn’t great!

  2. My lad will be really gutted about this. We can’t get season tickets because he plays hockey for a club on Saturdays, so have to pick and choose games (we’re going tonight).  It’s a fair system to prioritise ST holders but he’ll be really disappointed.  Hope all of you going enjoy it and make a lot of noise.

I’m off to see Maiden next year too ??

wanted to go to download this year to see them but my kids both selfishly had their birthdays that weekend so had to miss them.

Should be a great show. Will be great to hear some tracks off Somewhere in Time, some of Adrian’s guitar work is amazing. Hope they play Alexander The Great!

Not sure if you are familiar with Setlist Kinder? I use it a lot. 1, 6 and 16 are new songs - 6 in particular being quite brilliant imho. The tracks have a Disentegration vibe. You can click on the links to see the songs live. I am going in December too, albeit to the old Wembley arena venue. I suspect they might have one tour left in them, but to be fair Robert Smith seemed very happy and energised on stage. 9 out of 10 from me, but I think the setlists to date have catered a little for their Scandinavian fans. Hopefully in London we will see a bit more from Wish, Kiss Me, Disintegration period. That said they have so many great songs, and tunes, the chances of me getting my perfect Setlist are very remote.

Ah nice one, thanks.  I love Disintegration/ Kiss Me / Head on the Door, so that looks pretty good.  I saw them at Glastonbury in 2019 and that was an amazing set, loads from Disintegration. Prior to that I’d only seen them on the Wish tour.

I’ve heard the new album is going to be pretty dark, can’t wait for it. Great to hear the new tracks have a Disintegration sound.

Just had a couple of lovely days in Copenhagen. What a nice friendly city. Well worth a visit. Topped with seeing The Cure at the Arena, which is a great music venue given its size.

How was it? Did they play any new stuff? I’m going to see them in Brum in December.

Just got tickets to see Maiden next year as well.

You have to make bookings these days? Things have changed since the mid-80's when I was last there, great fun, what I remember of it, but yes the morning session might be dangerous! Sorry, I am assuming you are referring to the Munich festival

Yeah, Munich. I think you can just turn up without a booking but the queues can be pretty long. Really looking forward to it.

Oktoberfest - the time of year when I have to confess that not all good things are Belgian...

We’re off to Oktoberfest on Thursday. We’ve got one session in the Schottenhamel tent which is Spaten beer, and a session in the Armbrustschutenzelt (the crossbow tent!!) which serves Paulaner. The Saturday booking is 9am - 2pm so that will be interesting!

  8. I was really surprised by this and my first emotion was to feel very sorry for Liam. He seems like a very nice guy and has put his all into the job. I wish him success wherever he ends up.

On reflection, I can see why DC has made the decision, particularly now. He’s carried out a top to bottom review of the club, like he said he would. I’m speculating but I imagine he said he’d give Liam 9 or 10 games and then assess. The fact we’ve got an international break makes it the right time to review.

So what are the positives / negatives? To me, the positives are:

    1. We’re in 7th, level on points with play offs.

    2. We’ve looked very good in parts of some games.

    3. Liam clearly worked very hard to build a squad and was a big factor in certain players coming on board. The players seem to like him.

    4. He’s shown the club loyalty and we really need some stability.

    Negatives:

    1. We haven’t scored an away league goal all season.

I’m not going to put any other negatives because this is so alarming. We’re 2 1/2 months into the season and we haven’t scored away from home. How can DC carry out a review of the season so far and get past this? Does he hope that we start converting chances?

Is Liam’s style of play conducive to winning in League 1, particularly away from home? I’m really not convinced. We faff around at the back until we’re pressed and then the keeper / Cashin launch a long diagonal with little success. But Liam strongly believes in this philosophy so that is unlikely to change.

I don’t know how to feel about Paul Warne. I’m not going to hold one interview against him when he was clearly emotional so if he comes in, I’ll get right behind him. My worry would be whether the players can quickly adapt to his style of play.

Proud to say been on Royal Duty a few times over the years only in a small capacity mainly emergency back up.

Only got called up once to rectify a serious problem to make sure everything went smoothly without anyone knowing, so well done to everyone involved yesterday to make sure everything went like clockwork everyone was a credit to the nation.

My mate’s an armed copper in Leicestershire and was on sniper duty at Windsor yesterday. He had a good view but thankfully had bugger all to do! And agreed, the whole day was incredibly well organised and executed, it really was remarkable.

  10. I loved that today. First 20 mins were poor but we improved and then the subs / change of formation really changed the game. I thought McGoldrick was excellent and so good to have Knight’s energy in midfield, he made loads of forward runs. And hats off to Wildsmith, I’m starting to really like him.

The view from behind the dugouts was great, I’ll definitely try to get that seat again if I’m on my own. All in all a very nice way to spend my birthday.
