  1. I won League One at the first attempt and was top of the Championship before I moved house and kinda forgot about it 😛 I normally put 100s of hours into FM every year but only have around 20 in FM23.

I probably wait until FM24 before I get back into it now - have you heard its the 'love letter to fans' edition?  Major graphics and UI overhaul for the one after that.

  2. I've been CDs biggest fan since he joined - signed a waiver and pulled the shirt on and stuck by us in our hours (it dragged on a bit 😛) of need, but it was becoming apparent that his age had been catching up with him this season.  Kinda hoped he get another season, if only as backup and to instil what it is to be a pro to the rest of the squad, but if he can get first team football elsewhere then you can't deny him that.

Once a Ram, always a Ram n all that.

But wouldn’t you rather create a 100 chances to score a couple of goals compared to creating only 5 chances and scoring no goals?

The proof is in the pudding.

Rosenior’s football was more effective as we took more points against the same opposition. And we looked pretty decent as well.

We've created more than enough chances under Warne to win matches comfortably, we've just not been clinical enough all season and not been able to spend the money to reinforce.

I am disappointed we haven't made the play-offs but also think we've finished just about where I expected with the squad we've got.  We we're a couple of players short at the start of the season and watching the teams around us strengthen during January made things increasingly difficult.

With a proper recruitment team in place this summer and manager that knows how to get out of the division, I expect us to be a lot happier this time next season.

  4. We were with BT for 20+ years and the only time we had a problem was when we moved house 12 years ago, as @Grumpy Git mentioned, trying to get through to them was a nightmare and it took forever for them to rectify the problem, but once its works, it worked flawlessly - never had a problem.

We did move house again earlier this year however, took early retirement by the coast in an area that only has Virgin, suffered several outages already... 🤬

Rosenior took 14 points from his 9 games in charge.

Against the same opposition Warne only took 8 points.

We never improved under Warne. Our good runs under him just coincided with playing crap teams.

Didn't we also need to create 100* chances under Rosenior to score goals, just as we have needed to do under Warne?

We've not been clinical enough and the small squad looked tired at times as the season progressed.  I personally think the biggest hurdle  we faced was the EFLs financial restrictions, other clubs around us strengthened during the Winter transfer window whereas we couldn't bring anyone in - ultimately leaving us short.

*maybe a slight exaggeration, although didn't feel like it at times 😛

Let’s be honest, Clowes can’t admit it due to being the owner, but if someone asked him in private without any chance of it getting out. Im certain he’s angry that we haven’t made top 6.

league 1 specialist bought in when we were 7th. Finished 7th. That’s p1ss poor.

You do realise we've been narrowly beaten once by Sheff Weds this season who have had an extra year in Lg1 (without financial restrictions) and we still might play them again next season?

Its been a tough league to get out of this year and whilst it may not have ended how we hoped, I remain confident that with a proper recruitment team in place this summer and a proven manager getting the players in he wants next season will be much better.

  7. Good win today, but I have to say its more nerve wracking listening to it on t'interweb than it is actually being at the ground - I never used to feel the nerves when I was actually watching live!

If we can beat Portsmouth next weekend that should be enough imho and will potentially set us up with triple header vs Sheff Weds and 2 massive crowds in an L1 play-off SF.

  8. Well, its all gone a bit pear-shaped since I moved to the coast and gave up my season ticket - and for that, I humbly apologise 😛

In all seriousness, I think top 6 this season would have been a good finish - and despite our current form, thats not completely off the table yet.  We threw a squad together at the last minute, bought in new management part way through the season and couldn't strengthen as other clubs did during the winter transfer window.

Despite the minor meltdown some people are having, personally I don't think we've ever been promotion candidates this season and remain confident that we'll recruit better during the summer and be real contenders next season.

  9. I haven't got a TV licence so won't be watching anyway, but MotD (or any highlights show for that matter) without presenters does appeal.

You can watch 5-10 mins worth of highlights on youtube shortly after games have been played without the tedious analysis, the presenters had better be careful, after the drama has died down some people might enjoy just watching the football.

Awful as it seems to say -I hope it's her and that the family can find some peace

Saw a clickbait headline this morning from one of the usual right-wing papers which seemed to see no irony in reporting Suella Braverman's comments about the press intrusion being an unwelcome distraction alongside them "revealing" Miss Bulley's last text messages in the same article. Absolute scum bags

That's a good point, but it's also a fair comment that the right-wing newspapers always seem to be the ones that love to engage in tittle-tattle gossip and stoking fear, hatred etc. That's nothing to do with their politics - just another facet to their scumbagginess

Oh come on they all do it, thats just your own bias at play.  I did a quick google search and numerous publications were all writing similar things.

Anyway... assuming the body they have found it hers, I hope it provides some (sad) resolution for the family.  I also hope a thorough investigation opens into the way the police and media acted throughout.

  11. Some of the changes highlighted do seem a bit excessive tbh;

    https://news.sky.com/story/roald-dahl-book-rewrites-branded-absurd-censorship-by-salman-rushdie-12815658

Hundreds of edits have reportedly been made to the latest editions of Roald Dahl's classics.

A report in the Daily Telegraph compared the latest editions with earlier versions of the texts.

It found language concerning weight, mental health, violence, gender and race had been either cut or rewritten.

The Cloud-Men in James and the Giant Peach are now the Cloud-People, while references to Rudyard Kipling and Joseph Conrad in Matilda had been changed to Jane Austen and John Steinbeck.

In The Witches, a reference to women "working as a cashier in a supermarket or typing letters for a businessman" has been changed to "working as a top scientist or running a business".

In James and the Giant Peach, Miss Sponge is no longer described as "the fat one", Miss Spider's head is no longer "black" and the Earthworm no longer has "lovely pink" skin but "lovely smooth skin".

In The Twits, Mrs Twit is no longer described as ugly and beastly but just beastly.

Re. Hogwarts Legacy (the new game based in the Harry Potter world) referenced above, I bought that game as its a really, really good game - it generated a lot of hate simple because its JK Rowling universe, despite the fact that she had nothing to do with the game and it even contains an unskippable Trans character quest.  Just your typical hate fuelled pile on that thankfully didn't work.

Ah, the old I'm a centrist spiel. Gotta run but I'll leave this here for you.

Why I'm a centrist who always ends up backing right-wing policies

by Martin Bishop, political centrist and floating voter, of Swindon

PEOPLE often say to me, ‘Martin, why do you bother calling yourself a centrist when you always take right-wing views?’ They just don’t understand the benefits of centrism.

Firstly, it means I’m above simplistic ‘left’ and ‘right’ dogma. So not only can I choose the best policies from anywhere on the political spectrum, I’m also superior to you mere partisans, which gives me a lovely warm feeling.

And because my views are in the centre, they’re more sensible. Take the economy. Yes, Truss got it wrong. But everyone knows the Tories can be trusted with the economy.

I can’t explain why, they just can, and Labour would fritter decent people’s taxes on takeaways for fat unemployed skivers. Being a centrist means I’m able to take this nuanced view.

Secondly, it means you’re not right-wing, which has unpleasant associations with the BNP or racist pensioners droning on about National Service. That’s nothing like me, a cool guy who listens to Florence + The Machine and cooks baltis.

Lol, so you bemoan others choice of link yet infer a conclusion from a Daily Mash article.

Yup, time to run myself now, nothing left to discuss ?

That was your first mistake then wasn't it?

I see the Guardian has now become a credible news source Chex Maxjam. That's a marked change.

Welcome to the red side comrade.

I've never been on the blue side, just not off the deep end red as they currently are.

And I always try to find Guardian links where possible, anything else gets instantly dismissed ?
