    GangwayD got a reaction from Dordogne-Ram in Remembering Peter Taylor: 2 July 1928 – 4 October 1990
Sadly I'm only old enough to remember his time as manager, when he fell out with Clough over signing John Robertson, and the fact it was one of Brian's biggest regrets they never made up before Peter passed away.
I could be wrong, but when he was in charge of us, he said the immortal words of 'top six by Christmas', only to find ourselves struggling badly, and he was eventually sacked.
As a partnership with Clough and an eye for a talented Footballer, you could easily say - none better of his generation.
Great to see we honour both of them outside PP,
    Cheers

My take for what it's worth, I don't believe for a second that any fan would be upset by last nights result.
We all want Derby to be successful, however we all have different ideas on how that can be achieved.
The more vocal and extreme calls for Warne out, will create a stronger defence for Warne on the other side.
What happens is both sides become so distant where no middle ground can be found, you end up with this told you so, where are you now, can't moan now type situations.
Happens all over, not just this forum, not just football.
Whilst we're all mostly anonymous behind a keyboard, things will never change whilst we have a manager that splits fans as Warne and the likes of Rowett did.

I think this is absolutely spot on.  The jury is out on some of Warnes acquisitions, but some are really showing their worth.  Whilst the goals are currently flowing, I still think we are light up front for a top two finish.  As BG said, maybe TJJ will give us the added dimension.
Obviously away from home the opposition has the onus to come at us more leaving them shorter of numbers behind the ball, and I think if you look at our goals this season we have exploited this brilliantly, plus we've gone ahead in most away games so any home team sitting in, has to come out even more.
At home, we currently don't have that spark or a player to work in tight areas, which Didzy could, amongst the many other things he brought, allowing us to break teams down easier.   We've not got a really powerful striker either, so I still believe we have not replaced him.  Hopefully come January with players approaching ends of contracts, we could pick someone up for a snip to add to the goal tally and take us to the Championship.  I accept Warnes comments about not buying players 30+ but I still think Michael Smith or JCH would be worth a punt in January. He admitted last January window he made a mistake by not bringing in more so I will be surprised if we don't see some in's and out's then.
I know it's only one result but feeling optimistic again for the season.

That's a good question, but I think I'd go with Tyrese Fornah.  Some of his defensive work in the midfield seems to have released who is alongside him.  He can drive forward with the ball and pick a pass, plus his work rate is fantastic.
Nelson had that shaky start but looking very solid although helped by Cashin who is getting better and better plus I really like the look of Nyambe.
We know what Waggy brings so wouldn't say he's been 'unearthed'.
Many we're desperate to see Sonny Bradley sign, and after those few mistakes he's been written off by many, but I still think he will have a huge part to play.
Not really sure yet on Washington, Elder and even Ward to a point, who adds to the depth of wide players but TB is marginally better for me, although for some reason I don't think Warne fancies him as a player, as he's bene regularly dropped or hooked.

Hope you noticed him win every subsequent header that came into the box? Maybe another confidence boost he needs
Not calling you out, he’s looked poor, probably because he’s rusty from the lack of games last year, but these little cameos at the end of the game are helping. If Curtis Davis had been coming on last season in similar circumstances, most fans would’ve said smart move.

With time, he may look a rock solid performer at this level and he’s starting to show his credentials in snippets; just need to be aware of his lack of pace.

We finished 7th last season with didzys goals.  We didn't need to just replace them we needed to match them and then add to them.  At least if we are looking for top 2.   We look much stronger as a squad all round.  The only weakness in the recruitment was upfront and who knows maybe if TJJ can be fit he will give us an added dimension.  But I can still see us having games like the weekend where we are fairly toothless upfront and we will miss out on the autos as a result.

I’’m not advocating sacking Warne but he’s drinking in the last chance saloon.

Other than a difficult 10 months at Ipswich, Paul Cook has been extremely successful in the lower leagues, with Wigan, Portsmouth, Chesterfield.
he’d cost compensation so wouldn’t happen, but would prefer him to Warnock. I can see why fans are craving for him but it would feel like employing Steve Evans.
Slim pickings for decent managers out there at the moment who are out of work so if it happened then I think Clowes would go for Warnock.

Waghorn and Collins should hang their heads in shame at those 2 headers. But we knew we were going to miss the 25 goals from McGoldrick and we needed 25 more to get top 2. What did we do all Summer to solve the problem?

It is very frustrating.  After watching the Lincoln game, whilst it wasn't clearly their strongest side, we showed in patches the style I'd hope Warne wants us to play.  I went to Carlisle with those shoots of optimism and whilst delighted with the win, the style regressed again. Both teams constantly coughed up possession and neither team being good enough to capitalise.
I'm in the minority, in that at the moment after such a tough period for the club, and especially for Clowes, the guy who has saved us, I just want to see us win.  Ultimately, if we do that for another 25 games or so we get promoted.  I can swallow this current 'style'.
Despite Waggy's excellent start, and Collins finding the net, add in Washington, and I really believe we are nowhere near stronger in this department and we've not replaced Didzy.   Someone posted earlier saying that lets get to January and be in amongst it, hopefully with the injuries over and the style improving, we can invest in a striker (JCH) who could carry us home.
It's a big if, but should we get promoted, then it would be a big call to axe a manager who got you there.  Not going so well for Sheff Weds.  However, unless he changes/improves then I'm not sure if Warne could take us any further.
He has until just before Christmas for me, based on points.
My thoughts for what it's worth.

Fourth highest attendance in league one. Would have been third highest, if they had sold out the waterworks to Derby. Whoever is making the commercial decisions at Brunton Park needs to find another job.

It's not binary though, is it? The entire premise overlooks a bracket into which I'd wager the largest sector of fans fall. The pro and out camps on here just seem the most prevalent because they make the most noise.
My hunch is that a largest number of fans are simply undecided and want to see how Warne progresses with this set of players; others may be concerned that if we are not successful this season, compensation for the remainder of Warne's 4 year contract may not even be viable; doubtless others just think that sacking managers without affording them the chance to build their own team is braindead and what got us here in this mess in the first place; there's probably even some who wonder how we'd look with a squad less injury stricken. Let's be clear about this; none of those views necessarily constitute them being pro-Warne, nor do any render them happy clappers.
Bit of a tangent maybe, but let's be honest here; it's dead easy to say drop the gaffer, pay the compo and find us someone better when it's not you that's footing the bill. It's not nearly so easy when you've already spaffed £52 million saving the club in the first place.

Cards on the table, I have no Ill feeling towards Paul the man. He seems like a genuinely nice bloke and I would love for him to succeed.
Unfortunately the signs were there, for me at least, quite early, that he probably wouldn't succeed here.
If and when he eventually goes, I hope he goes back to Rotherham and does really well.
Equally, if by some miracle he managed to find his best 11, started playing football and climbed the table I would be absolutely delighted.

Are we going to continue to blame him for everything for the foreseeable future?
Yes, Mel over spent on tripe and ruined the harmony in the dressing room by doing so, he can take the vast majority of the blame for why we are in league one but he’s not the one forcing us to use Sunday league style tactics and making a good squad of players look poor, that’s the fault of our current manager, a man that doesn’t get the best out of the players at his disposal or use them to their strengths.
Did Mel want the limelight, Yes
Did he make rash decisions, Yes
Did he take us from the cusp of promotion to broken in league one, yeah he f****** did.
But, he spent a fortune of his own money doing so and I believe deep down he did it because he loved the club and wanted to return them to the top flight, yes, he’d of loved the adulation but on the whole his intentions were good.
Us currently playing like we think the ball is full of Semtex is not his fault.

Mel was awful in the circumstances. But the number one cause of our plight is FFP. If that never came into light, we wouldn’t have needed to try and get around the rules to financially compete with parachute payment clubs.
I’m not a fan of Mel. But on the face of it, all he did was plough loads of his own money into the club he loved and naively thought that would be enough to get us promoted.
The way we spent the money was just ridiculous. Clueless. But was that Mel’s fault or those spending his money?
When you look at the spend in today’s market. How do you spend £25m+ in fees like we did in 2015/16 and actually get worse? I’m convinced Derby, Everton and Man Utd are the three worst spenders in English football over the past decade.
