Just make it the club song - make it happen, not by changing the words - if you get me

Yes " By the light of the silvery moon " was our song and sung on the popside in the 70's . Not sure when it fell out of favour/
Can also remember when the Heanor lads used to chant "Heanor , Heanor " and the popside would respond "Sharples , Sharples " ( You would have to have watched 70's Coronation St to get that ?).

White Christmas still gets a run out during the festive period, but haven't heard hi ho Derby county for years.

Hope so. His chapter at Derby has ended for me.
 

Wouldn’t it be lovely for us, the Club, and Ravel for it to work out properly and we get a few seasons out of him.

I’m not complaining but let’s see how we feel after the 28th at least. 

I remember watching McGrath in that season and what a joy he was to behold. 
Positional sense and speed of thought above anyone I’d seen play in defence for Derby. 
I’m 45 now so never got to see the champion winning team but have seen the likes of Wright, Hindmarsh, Stimac etc but for that one season Paul McGrath was absolutely immense. 
I remember him tracking a runner who had beat him for pace as a ball was played through and in stride Paul back healed a clearance further than some were able to make a normal clearance. The striker turned to look at him and just shook his head in disbelief. 
 
If Phil Jagielka can bring us even a fraction of what McGrath gave us in his one season we will find ourselves safe and secure for another year. 
Yesterday was a promising start. 

Wonder what Yacko Banovic is doing these days? 

We should also switch to 2 up front as neither is a target man.
Play Baldock instead of a "No.10" and get Stretton running in behind the oppo defence.

I’d guess we were mainly looking at Baldock to play off CKR - if big Col is out of the team then we need to be looking at a different type of striker.
I’m sure our thoroughly professional and well-prepared recruitment team has a long list of alternatives to choose from…..

Watching his runs in preseason he will give us another dynamic, similar to Gregory last season, and at least he is more like Stretton in terms of style so between them we wouldnt have to change our style of play too much compared to between CKR & Stretton/Baldock

Wonder if he has the same agent as Aluko. Other than Jags he looked the most impressive out of the trialists.
Im sure agents will be very busy at the moment touting players out of contract before the window shuts 
Think we’ll have plenty of options, just if we choose the right ones assuming we are allowed !

No offence & obviously things are far from rosy at the minute but seen a few of these posts recently & its doing my head in. To deal with the two suggestions;
1. Only cash-rich/existing Premiership teams can compete anymore
Well, we thought that for much of 2000-2015 and then Leicester happened. And Leeds rose from the dead. And Brentford's shrewd model won them promotion. And Swansea and Wigan won major trophies. In a divisional system progress is always possible & but like it ever was, it needs consistently good decision making, good appointments to manage the football club as a whole & a long term plan. Not the short term 'boom or bust'/celebrity chasing/chuck a load of cash at it nonsense we've specialised in for all bar 2010-14
2. Derby will cease to exist so what do you do then
There will always be a club in Derby...always. Even if the absolute worst case scenario happened which I think is so unlikely as not to worry about, there are the examples of Glasgow Rangers, Wimbledon, Napoli & Fiorentina to look at. Bury will return in time too. The point here is that the fans are the club, not its legal entity
This is a one club city & a city that is passionate about football. There 100% would be a phoenix club & in time it'd be seen as a continuation of the old club - the idea we'd even consider supporting the bindippers for a second makes me vom in my mouth

My interest in football waned many years ago. Hardly ever watch a match if it doesn’t involve Derby. Can’t even get up for England international games anymore. Football has been ruined by money. I wouldn’t support any other team.

I said in 1984 that if Derby go to the wall I'd never go to another match, nothing has changed for me. 

Looking at whos out of contract; Rudy Gestede might be a shout.

One of the positives about this whole situation is the young talent which has recently come through our academy and it's status, which is one thing Mel could be praised for.   
Some have already been sold (Bogle, Lowe etc) and I think WR is very lucky to have so many at his disposal.  I'm old enough to remember when Alex Ferguson was about to be sacked by Man United had they not beaten Notts Forest in an FA Cup game.   He'd spent millions on dross in his early days but they won that match and went on to lift the Cup and the class of 92 matured shortly after, all at the same time from their academy and the rest is history. 
I'm not for a minute suggesting our lads are on a par with them, but can you imagine where we would be if we didn't have this young talent available.  
Of course they are all raw, make mistakes and are still learning and I think some fans forget just how young they are.  I'm not sure how much they will benefit from trying to carve a career in a struggling Championship side.  It could be a case of they will sink or swim.  It must also be a delight for the senior pro's having them around, although I accept we need a few more of those.
I do quite like the fact they are coming through together so will know each others game.  Physically they may struggle but the added joy it will bring us if they become successful together - the Derby babes !
