Well yes. The big hoo haa going on about the Government not accepting the results of an independent commission, and wanting to change the rules.
well the Efl didn’t accept the results of an independent valuation of PPS. No one else challenged it , not HMRC or anyone.  When they lost to an independent commission they changed the rules to stop stadia sales being allowed for.
the EFL didnt accept the results of an independent audit, so complained to an INdependent commission who also agreed with our auditors. So they complained to another panel , one without any accountants on it to get the answer they wanted.
but even then they couldn’t get what they wanted a points deduction. And couldn’t accept the results of that independent commission either, being disappointed with it.

now they are Said to be shocked we are appealing to another independent panel. And want to change the rules on that too to stop clubs doing that.
I mean really how sleazy can the EFL get before they get closed down?

I guess some will dislike Rooney no matter what happens. My take is that he has shown proper leadership during the worst possible time for any manager, let alone a complete rookie. The players are giving their all for him and the fans at the games can see this and are responding with unbelievable support.
He gets some things wrong tactically like the first half v Blackburn but then sorts it out and turns it round.
I'm happy to have him in our corner with the position we're in. He's a winner and a fighter and will bring out the best in our young lads given the time.
I still think this could one of the best seasons as a fan.

I'm a Sky Blue... Born Chaddy and moved to North of Coventry at the age of 2. Not sure I'm allowed a second team but have always looked out for your results and been a bit narked that DCFC never seem to make the big time despite the fantastic fan base.   My first game was a 0-0 in 1974 FA Cup tie at Highfield Rd.   Went today.  I agree with this comment and as the second half went on it looked like County would draw level.  A brief moment of entertainment in the stands was the side show before the goal.  Derby looked big in defence and fair play for commanding the best part of the second half.  City had a penalty call but it was waived away.  Hit the bar and had a goal disallowed.  But Derby were worth their draw.  Hope off the pitch problems get sorted out so that you stay up.

I'm not saying the outcome of our appeal will be any different, but the loss to DCFC of not being able to admit fans, the drop in ST revenue, the matchday commercial and retail income, sponsorship etc etc dwarfs the losses that Wigan experienced.
I must say also that Kieran Maguire's comment about the response of insurers to the claims of companies holding business interruption insurance is so laughable that I almost can't believe an alleged academic came out with it. I believe that a few insurers have already had their arses kicked in Court over their disgraceful behaviour and I expect more will follow, so keep embarrassing yourself Kieran.

Those slamming Mel should pause for a moment to think about his intentions.
I do not - for a minute - think he's intended to run the club down.
He has spent millions, not to run the club into debt, but to chase the dream. We all supported that chase.
Even though he's managed things badly, which he admits, I do believe that he genuinely thinks the only way he can get new owners in is to put the club into administration.
I'm very far from happy about that, actually been crying about it, but I think it's sincere on his part.

The Burley comparison is an interesting one, but as @sage says he had more wriggle room in the transfer market to bring in the likes of Rasiak, Idiakez, Smith, Bisgaard. That summer transfer window transformed us.  Rooney hasn’t been able to do that. If you do the Burley comparison then you also have to look at 03-04 season. That was a poor a squad as I remember and probably a more similar situation to now. There were several times that season we looked like we were certainties to go down, but again he could use transfers to change the squad and that’s what kept us up - bringing in Pesch, Leon Osman and Marco Reich, without those signings I’m convinced we would’ve gone down. Rooney cannot right now make any transfers, he has to get the best out of what he has.
Which brings us back to Rooney, it’s a redundant argument as he’s staying anyway but anyhow. Has he done anything to deserve the sack? Last season yes, that awful run, the football we were playing, we were very lucky to stay up and he was lucky to keep his job. Most people are agreed on this. However he kept his job so we move onto this season.
Has he done enough to stay in the job this season? Firstly factor in we have a weaker squad than we finished last season with, certainly depth wise and we’ve had injuries/suspensions early on. 1 win in 7? Not great, but 16th in the league and 2 defeats in 7? Ok. Style of football is a marked improvement on what we saw last season, so that’s another tick at the moment. We will see how it goes but we shouldn’t be calling for his head yet (not saying you are by the way and it’s irrelevant anyway he’s going nowhere)
Would another manager do better? Who knows? We’ve had a lucky escape with Hughton and Cook, are they coaches who will make an existing team better I’m really not sure. I will say though that in times where you’re hands are tied and you can’t sign players and you have a small squad combined with turmoil off the pitch, you need a manager who is a strong leader who can galvanise and inspire his team, a leader who his team is going to follow to the end.
The one thing this early part of the season has showed me in abundance and it was epitomised by the effort of Tuesday night is that this team is right behind Rooney and they are all playing for him as one. That is the single most important thing right now in our situation, Forest weren’t playing for their manager and look where they are with significant superior resources as it stands.

If they are allowed to take time to dry the ball and take 2 minutes for every throw in, I don't see why we should rush with the goal kicks.
