  1. This will potentially be one of those difficult games...

I'd imagine, given their run of form that that they will primarily put to stop the rot and the best way to do that against us is to just put everyman behind the ball and look to frustrate us.

This tactic is always out worst nightmare as we struggle to combat these s**those tactics.

Be interesting to see what Wilder does at Shef Utd for two reasons . Firstly the 11 point total . Also , he has been touted for the Rams job a couple of times . Is he that good or did he just take advantage of the solid foundations Nigel laid with young players like Harry Maguire ? Wouldn’t be the first manager to take advantage of Clough’s hard work.

Just goes to prove Clough jnr was good at collecting the ingredients but was a below par chef!

We shall discuss this in more depth in the Black Swan in Utch before next Tuesday's match over a couple of pints of Bass.

What's the bass like in there uttoxram?

Used to enjoy proper a proper pint from the old bass museum at Burton, after work, back in the day but I've not tried it since the place closed down.

I think you started well but much as I wanted Chrissy to get a deserved warm welcome; I thought he did pretty much nothing apart from the goal ( yes, daft comment perhaps,  it is something he was always good at, he clearly still has the instincts )  but really he looked slow and the wrestling efforts on Nelson and Cash were last chance saloon stuff. Their No10 was slippery and mobile but they didn’t link as well as you might have thought with a different Martin. Collins didn’t score, but all round was much more influential and involved to my mind. And yes a Martin in his prime would have been a better player than Collins .. not arguing that, but today ? I didn’t see anything to re kindle the flames.

His touches were still sublime but he wasn't the focal point of their attack which,as we know,he needs to be.

Still scored a glancing header out of nothing which is something none of our current centre forwards are capable of.....

Cashin did a very good job of looking after him tho today and clearly got under his skin as  Chrissie threw him to the ground at one point for his efforts 😁

I'd still have him over any of our current cf's even if he's slower than a slow thing...but running around a lot was never his thing, being in the right place at the right time was.

  5. Just got in...

First half was deadly, deadly dull with Collins returning to his party trick of being in the wrong time and the wrong place for the majority of it....

Second half much better, the game opened up and Mendez, again was the difference.

In the end I was very happy....I saw Chris Martin again score a cracking goal at pride park and we still won the game!

It's all bleeding coming together... somehow.

    COYR!

  6. Just got back in.

Great game today,we never left them alone and their lack of chances or opportunities was the result of that.

Great game for collo but fozzy was my man of the match,he made some superb, brilliantly timed challenges and scored a lovely goal (or was it 2?)

That game would have pleased warne very much i suspect as it seemed to contain all of the qualities he wants from the team, hard work, passion, pressing, athleticism and goals (although we could easily have had 6)

Asked for his assessment of the game, Warne said: "We got away with one but I felt as if we didn't at least get a draw they would have got away with one because I thought we were smoking them.

I thought we played really well and I am hugely disappointed we didn't stop the cross (first Crewe goal) and it was poor defending from us. I've been involved in a lot of games where you're in the ascendancy all it takes is one opportunity when you're not mentally sharp and that caused a problem for us.

But we had some unbelievable chances and it didn't feel like it was going to go in. That's the truth. I was disappointed with the second goal we conceded. But the lads kept going and in certain games this year we've been a bit questioned, but I thought they answered the questions today.

Even if we'd lost 2-0 and I know the fans will think I'm off my nut, but I would have still been proud of the performance. I was. But I generally thought we played really well and controlled the game. But to get a draw feels like a win, even though I know it isn't. We're still in the hat and now we have another game in a few days' time."

    I think that's a fair assessment.

I think we were poor today at both ends of the pitch. We've played worse, but still plenty of improvement to be made.

We've had 32 shots, you'd expect their goalie to have had a worldie. All they had to do was sort of stand there in a line. Credit to them, they did defend well, but I don't think we were on form.

Agree to disagree then on how poor we were...we struggled against the usual suspects who played to frustrate us....we need a better striker to solve the problem i.m.o

Didn’t get a chance to watch or listen to the game…

Can anyone briefly summarise it, with the emotion taken out of it?

Because the stats suggest we dominated etc but everyone online seems to be fuming.

Completely dominated but couldn't break them down until the 89th minute...they scored on the two breaks they had.

We spent too much time crossing into their box because they gave us no space in the middle.

I think I'd rather have played well and gone out. More cup games do us absolutely no favours.

Instead we've played crap and scraped a replay. Worst of both worlds.

    Did we play crap?

Completely dominated but couldn't score until late on....our problem,as ever,is out forward line against teams that sit in the box.

We need a new centre forward in January (no s*** Sherlock)
