I hope he is successful in buying him from us. Bird flatters to deceive, he should have controlled games with his ability at this level but went missing in alot of games. Im not saying Bird doesnt have ability, he does, he just doesnt do enough with it. My opinion is that Smith is a much better player and know hows to play the role better too, unfortunately he was needed at right back instead.

If we sold Knight, Bird and Bielik, and replaced them with Clarke Harris, May, Brannigan and say Bonnis I think that’s good business and fills some gaps we’re severely lacking. 

For me, the reality is Knight (or Bird) is not going to be the difference between promotion or not.
We were short of finishers and a decent last ball and have lost the player head and shoulders above the rest of at both.
Getting in players to rectify that is our priority  and if we have to sell to bring in a fee to help us do that then I'm good with that.
Currently I just can't see where any goals are coming from and it definitely isn't from Knight or Bird. As long as we are able to rectify that with 2 or 3 forward looking players then I can take us letting players go to fund that.

I think the whole Knight saga could serve as somewhat of a litmus test for how much money Clowes can/is willing to put into the playing staff. 
Obviously we are still yet to pay a transfer fee under him. If he was trying to run it on a shoestring, Knight would have left for the rumoured 1m or so that’s been bid. If we had bags of cash spare he’d gamble and keep him for a year to see if we can go up and resign the lad. 
 
I suspect his position is somewhere between those two poles and we’re holding out for 2-2.5m bid - which is by no means cheap for a player with one year left and playing below his level. 
 
And that’s by no means a criticism of the new ownership. If anything it sounds sensible, although obviously I’d like to have knight in our team for another year. 

At no point in time would they ever have fetched £20m...unless it was Derby buying them of course. 
£10m for the pair maximum. 
Not sure anyone considers £4m for the pair excellent either, just a bit of realisation of the situation we are in.
I think you'd struggle to name any League One club that has sold players in excess of £4m.

£4m gets you every player in League One. Scott Twine went for up to £4m and he was a talent that hadn’t been seen in League One for years - 20 goals and 13 assists from midfield at 22 years of age. The side he left consequently got relegated the season after which shows his impact. 
£2.5m for Knight and £1.5m for Bielik, if reinvested, gives us an opportunity to pick off some good players. Moxon at Carlisle, for example, Collins at Bristol. Who knows maybe a striker like Clarke-Harris. It allows Warne and Mark Thomas to go in whatever direction they think best. It also allows us to go in heavy with loan players which if done correctly can play a big part - Bolton do well in that regard.

Competition is rarely a bad thing. I'd still go in to the season with Wildsmith keeping his place, he has earned it as far as I am concerned. It's a good thing for us that if his form goes off a cliff or if he gets injured we have strength in depth.

Out of our young players. Knight, Sibley, Cashin, Bird. 
The only one I'd really hope we keep is Cashin. The rest can go for me.
Knight, I'm resigned to it anyway. Always going to go. 
Sibley. Can almost count on one hand how many good games hes had here? How many managers has he played under? None have consistently picked him. I don't think it helps that he's a bit stupid. Makes stupid decisions, makes stupid unnecessary tackles and gets needles yellow cards, managers can't trust him. I remember one game this season where he was left back and got booked in the first half. Warne took him off at half time because he can't trust him not to get another yellow. I can't even see anyone coming in for him at all.
Bird - 3 goals in 139 appearances. Flatters to deceive so often. I come out of games and question what he's offered? Surely a midfielder that is as good as some of our fans think he is should be dominating games in this league? He offered nothing and in a lot of games got bullied. 
I just don't think Sibley or Bird will amount to anything other than average Championship players at best. Says a lot that the only club he's linked with is Hull.
I think because they've come through the academy some of the fans think they're better than what they are. 

Readings meite rejected a contract and is now a free. He would be on fire at this level.
