  1. It's great to have a football team to support, without the stress of the events of the previous

12 months which  made me switch off except for the matches themselves.

Considering what has happened to other relegated weighty clubs, we have nothing to complain about.

The away form though is a real concern and Rosenior can't disconnect himself from responsibility as

he was part of the previous management.  Away performances have been Cocuesque.

Yesterday's result + performance against Wycombe may prove a turning point. Many managers

lose their jobs from excess of caution and Rosenior may still be one of them.

Early in the second half I decided the only way we might get back into the game was if I had a change of scenery, so I popped out into the Tower of London Moat (currently planted for the Superbloom), listening to the Radio Derby commentary in the sunshine. Hourihane scored and I laughed as I knew this post would come back to haunt me, but I was delighted and thought I'd take just a tiny amount of vicarious credit. As fans we do everything we can to suck the ball into the opposition net.

Then I cheered when the winner went in and was spotted by a Beefeater mate (sadly a dirty Leeds fan) who came out to see what the fuss was about. But he wasn't averse to toasting the mighty Derby with some of my vodka and tonic (off duty).

I worried with the lineup that we simply didn't have enough attacking players on the pitch at the beginning, so well done to Liam for realizing and changing things up. It sounded as if the second half was much better. It's such an important win, going into a break on a high (late goals, especially winners, breed confidence), tweaking the setup for the better with Knight in midfield, and ditching the goalkicks. We could be on the right track.

If you were only listening on the radio, do share how you knew Hourihane didn't have the legs for a whole game?

What is it with all this Sibley sentiment. He is still struggling to live up to his hype post-Millwall 2020.  He needs to contribute more with goals and assists, and hopefully he will get another chance in the second half to evidence he can offer something consistently. Dobbin arguably has as much merit to be the first change if we need a youthful spark.

If you have watched the games this season I don't think the evidence is in your favour. Sibley's play  as sub  has offered much in the few games we have seen and Dobbin's contribution , whilst promising , shows he is still adjusting.

He was perfunctory and without Cashin giving a heroes performance we'd probably have lost.

As expected though an average performance is being bigged up as better than it was because oh no someone said nasty things about him on the internet.

Perfunctory is a harsh word to use. His performance today was better than that on effort alone. Seems like you are having to work hard to defend an opinion not actually relating to today's performance.

We do, we deserved the 21 points and we’re relegated. We have to accept that

I am very happy to blame Mel Morris for much of his errors in managing the club. However the accounting methods used are not part of that blame as i think the first tribunal verdict was the right one. The subsequent EFL appeal was spite and the points deduction for it unfair. That points deduction , unlike the administration points deduction, was arbitrary and some of the motivation questionable. We could have appealed that, but by then our situation was too complicated. We have to accept the points deduction but that is not to say we deserved it.  This is all water under the bridge and it is clear that David Clowes is working with the EFL to restore relationships

  6. Great to hear him say

" I will be listening to people  in all parts of the club"    Don't get the impression that Mel Morris did enough of this  and it is clear that his team from Clowes Developments are playing a big part.

Just as important was his intention to act with integrity and admitting that they won't have all the answers. His tribute to Lionel Pickering was welcome.

We are very fortunate  to have him as our owner and after all the garbage of the last twelve months it is hard to believe it has turned out like this. In the interview he seems such a genuine, likeable bloke.

I'll go with the ultimate happy clapper Rosenior. The team is certainly good enough, but if the results are not great from the start, it's on him.

The team  " is certainly good enough "  for what? There is a vast gulf between the  different expectations of fans ( going by whats posted on here) and those thinking we can get promotion  at the first attempt may well be disappointed. At the very least they will need patience  given the fact we have so many newcomers . Hope we can be competitive and win a few games .. that may have to be sufficient and anything else a bonus. That patience needs to extend to Rosenior  if you think " its on him " . He has had only a short time to try to integrate the players. No problems with Rosenior not being  critical of the players at this stage.

You could argue that MM only made one mistake...

    Not getting promoted

If we had, he'd still be m charge and everyone would adore him

    It's a funny old game

This  argument would be a complete let off. His model of governance was flawed and some on here pointed that out well before the sorry end - the fact that he was in sole control and did not surround himself with people able to argue a case for doing things differently. His previous business successes offered no guarantee of success in running a football club.

The constant turnover of managers (consider what he did with MacClaren) was a significant negative indicator from early on. Are we saying that we will accept any model of governance with deep flaws IF that leads to success? Having missed out on promotion and lost Lampard as manager, his  bringing in Cocu was the wrong step and showed an unrealistic grasp of our situation both in terms of player capability and our financial resources.

The move that impressed me most was when one of Peterborough attackers looked to have kicked it past him and had a clear run into the area.
Cashin was having none of that and ran shoulder to shoulder with the attacker for 10-15 yards, and just steered him out of play. I’d been worried about his alleged lack of pace but that put paid to that.

Spot on with this incidence  - Cashin showed great physical presence but also a steely calm determination. Just what our defence needs.

Would that be the same George Thorne who played in 8 years 57 games for the Rams and scored 2 goals after signing for £3 million so taking into account his wages of £10 million in that period so we paid him £2,500 for every minute he played for the Rams, and £6.5 million for every goal, he was pants as his entire career shows 129 games in 10 years and only 6 goals. Whats more Morris cannot be blamed for his signing.

But Morris did sign Bielik !!  Sadly no crystal ball  injury forecaster  available at the signing of either player.  Think you will find Thorne was only with us for 6 years, but facts clearly ain't your strong point.

Dreadful last stint as manager who can forget Derby 0 - Reading 3 in May 2015, we needed 1 fxxxing point to make the play offs ( I wish I could forget it) and he engineered a total cluster.

First managerial stint he inherited a great team built by Nigel, then left for the riches of managing Newcastle, totally useless individual as a player and as a manger.

This post fully meets all the criteria for a comment in the post-truth era. Just make up what you want and type......( with no spell checker)

Three things you can say positive about Mel:

    • He put more money into this football club than I would be prepared to
    • He did it for what he believed was the good of Derby County, not for personal gain
    • The ride was fun at times

Does not excuse the absolute clown car of club he has made us, the shambolic decision making and the rest but we are apparently in this thread to say the good things, and they are those.

Naive to not recognise the gain to him in terms of being chairman /owner  - rise in personal prestige, mixing with celebrities. His motivation was not financial gain. Believing one is doing the right thing for the club is not sufficient - Hitler presumably believed what he was doing was good for Germany!  Right to the end he has looked after his own interest, making bad decisions that have made our situation worse.

    He has invested a fortune.

No doubt about it Mel Morris put his money where his mouth is and backed Derby to make the Premier League

Going into admin doesn't change that. Neither does the fact he spent huge amounts of his own money on Derby change the fact that we are now in administration and suffering because of his management

As often is the case in the real world people aren't always angels or demons.

People have to be mature enough to judge people as they see them and not get caught up in any hysteria. Don't start doing stupid things.

Morris's behaviour over the last 12 months is irredeemable, regardless of how much money he pumped in earlier.

I understand their grievances. I didn't last year because well it wasn't like we were anywhere near the team that broke P&S. Nevertheless, they do have a good case considering their losses. It would absolutely put us in the mire more so than we already are, so I would again go back to the point - liquidate the club and start again. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, is more painful than all this off-the-field baalocks.

Midlands Counties Division 3... whatever the level. I just want to focus on the football again.

Laughable. "They have a good case" ....... yet you are saying it waits for discoveries during the admin process. That Wycombe have had losses does not itself make a legal case.  In any case how does one distinguish between the delays due to the way EFL conducted the processes and what Derby County did? The EFL raised Wycombe's hopes by asking for dual fixturing when it was long past all normal deadlines for imposition of a points penalty to affect relegation.

Strangely I felt worse on the day that Clough and Taylor walked out. We were on the verge pf besting the world at that moment, and our chairman chucked it all away for issues of pride and ego.

So this is nowhere near as bad, even though our loss as fans will he huge

But after Clough and Taylor left we did go on to win the League again quite soon!  No such phoenix-like recovery this time.

Disgusted at some fans really. How come trashing Caroline Flack was wrong, and look what that led to, and yet it’s perfectly fine to say what they like about Mel Morris?

People shouldn't say just what they like and abuse is not acceptable. However just criticism is surely acceptable. The club has been Morris's plaything and sadly his model of ownership has been seriously flawed, something some of us have been saying on here for years. He has been accountable only to himself and has failed because he has made countless wrong decisions , thinking that he knew best. Perhaps he was beguiled by the chance to mix with the stars of the game rather than focussing on club finances adequately. The seeds of our financial demise we there before the covid lockdown.

If he has ill health I hope that is resolved but he will go down as the worst owner we have ever had.

Well Derby played with steel plenty of fight and passion and held WBA at by I was not impressed by there football I throught Derby were better side and for me played better football but us the fans even through about 1500 I think it sound more like 6 to 7k of Derby fans and asking steward that we were loudest fans they had in very very very long time.

I don't think Derby played better football than WBA, but we were effective. I enjoyed the game and their forwards were unimpressive especially the one that kept falling over (thats why we didn't lose) . I can't understand the negative posts from Derby fans criticising our style of play. It was intentional, Rooney explained that it was a selection for this game and it worked. Credit to both Rooney and the players.

What do you expect them to do? There's nothing more to be investigated is there?! They have no access to our accounts, the HMRC bill nor P&S. They asked for a comment on the unpaid transfer fees and didn't get one.

    Really, what else?

They could be openly critical of Morris but then they would find the door shut in their face. But perhaps such criticism is called for now - compared with the exploits of some of our previous owners, are we not in our worst state ever?

The lack of comment from the club etc is an indication of just how badly they have screwed things up.

I think that Foz got the very least penalty that I would have given him. We have to protect standards in the game. Not really a great issue whether it was actually deliberate. More important that a realistic penalty was laid out because of how it looked imo.

What on earth  does 'protecting standards" mean? Unless it was intentional nothing is being protected. Not surprised about the ban because it looks horrible but look how deliberate and careful Fossie was with the subsequent movement of both of his legs+feet. Given his body position prior to the 'stamp', avoiding the player in the ground would have  been difficult in any case. Hard to tell intent here if there was any. Fossie has not been given the benefit of any doubt, but we often see dangerous play like this penalised.
