    I hope not.

We all know Nigel Pearson’s 4-4-2 direct football was never going to work after Clough and McClaren had built a possession-based 4-3-3 side.

I’m sensing a deja vu. Sort of.

We had to get bodies in the building during the summer. But all of our signings were geared towards a possession-based 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1.

Smith, Hourihane and McGoldrick are three ball-playing central players. NML and Bark wide forwards.

But after just a handful of games we have ripped up the summer recruitment by ditching Rosenior and going for a manager with a completely different style.

Paul Warne plays 3-5-2. He has three promotions with that. I rate him highly. He isn’t going to move away from something he knows works, especially at this level.

But it’s clear we don’t have the players for his style. Barks is looking terrible at LWB. NML looks a shadow of the exciting wide forward of the first few games. I can see Hourihane struggling to get back in. McGoldrick too.

To get promoted, something must give. Warne will not get us promoted with this current side.

Changes will have to be made in January and next summer. I just hope DC is patient and smart enough to realize this and gives Warne the time to build a side who can play his system.

The only thing missing from this post is for you to say is that you want Warne replacing now. What we get is unjust criticism of many players and Warne himself.  Has Barkhuizen really been terrible in all his matches as LWB? You state that Clowes will need patience, do you and other fans have patience?

I would have dropped Hourihane for his handball last week, but it didn't matter as finally we got to see Louie Sibley in his best position anyway. I'm so pleased everyone saw it. Play him in midfield every week (a good combo with Bird and Knight as they do complement each other) and we will be promoted. Football's a simple game really.

Very happy for Wildsmith and Osulu too.

It would be truly stupid to have dropped Hourihane just because of the handball. Don't know how many of the games you have watched in full but Sibley has been inconsistent like Hourihane has.

Gamesmanship/cheating has been here as long as the football a was made out of a pigs bladder, The Hunter Vs Lee incident has been mentioned on here a couple of times, All started when Lee tripped himself up when running alongside Hunter to win a penalty, Lee was very cleaver at this, We loved it but it was cheating ?

Dean Sturridge did the same when winning a penalty against Southampton under Jim Smith, If it's your team most will say..."so what it's in the game and they all do it" when it's against us we complain, It was a clear dive for their 1st pen, The linesman gave the penalty he was right in line as the video shows, Incompetent is what this shower were.

It'll change when the people who run football FIFA instruct all FAs to review all games, Then retrospectively give a ban on the player for cheating, Then penalise the offending team 1 point...it will then stop.

But it aint going to happen is it?

In our current team Knight is quite good at dropping to the floor and getting a free kick.

The ref has to make a decision and for him it’s hard without replays. I’ve got that advantage, seen three clips and no way did he hit him and it wasn’t an overly aggressive slap on the ground either. The PV players grossly exaggerated the effects of what was just two players tangled together after close contact when competing for a ball and then by influencing the referee unfairly. Sorry lads, biased or not that is no way a red. You can blame the ref if you like but his only crime was being weak and being taken in by what some people call gamesmanship but i call cheating. LeVe the ref alone and let’s talk about the two PV players who are a stain on sportsmanship.

    Spot on!

Watched (on RamsTV) the Mansfield game, I know it wasn't our first X1, but was very disappointed in the way we allowed Mansfield to dominate after we scored.

Was at Pride Park today and loved the first 7-8 minutes, but then we went downhill and allowed Port Vale to dominate the rest of the game, much as Mansfield did on Tuesday.

Mitigating factors, yes the ref; After watching the Queen open Pride Park in 1997, I can't remember an away team having 2 penalties awarded to them outside of a penalty shoot-out, and I'm struggling to remember when we last had a penalty awarded against us at Pride Park.  However, how awful the ref was today (and he was appalling), what worries me is the response our current team has to any determined attacks against it.

I really hope that I am over-reacting to a disappointing loss, but I can't not ask the question:  are the current recently assembled squad who agreed to come to Derby County to play for the football Rooney and latterly Rosenior advocated, willing to play the style of football advocated by Paul Warne?

Its far too soon to making conclusions and the number of posters already prepared to rage against individual players is disappointing. Do we expect the players to instantly be able to switch to Warneball?

For several years we have lacked players that are physically strong and 'give as good as they get'  and admittedly these players are what are needed in this division and with Warne's style of play. But yesterday's loss would most likely have been avoided but for the sending off of Collins - one player down and missing one of the key players for the new style of play.

  6. Sorry to see him go, he has shown such great commitment to the club. Everyone including Warne owes him for the very sound start he has given the club this season, considering the playing staff left at the end of administration.  In this statement he shows much more class than some other managerial staff we have had over the years. We will never know all the reasons why he was not made permanent manager, but I do wonder if his rather inflexible  statements about sticking with his way of us playing out from the back were wise.

The official Twitter account wrote that 'our new boss has been promoted every season he's been in this division'.  Conveniently ignoring that he's been immediately relegated each time too.  It's a strange appointment - not awful, but lacking the potential that Liam might have had.

Cocu had potential and that worked out well.

Usually a manager is replaced after a poor run of results. Liam has cobbled together a squad in a matter of weeks and got us to 7th. Good enough for me. How do you know Warne will improve things? As I commented earlier, if we are 10th at Christmas, 8 points from the play offs, what do you do then?

I would have been happy with no change. there has been some enjoyable football  this season . But the memory of watching away matches since Cocu to current time has been very frustrating. The stats for recent away form are stark but also very unusual in that points away from home have been so rare. Rosenior has been a coach for all this time and even when interim manager has not sorted things. There is no guarantee as to how much Warne will improve this but that's where gratitude to David Clowes will mute my criticism

  9. It's great to have a football team to support, without the stress of the events of the previous

12 months which  made me switch off except for the matches themselves.

Considering what has happened to other relegated weighty clubs, we have nothing to complain about.

The away form though is a real concern and Rosenior can't disconnect himself from responsibility as

he was part of the previous management.  Away performances have been Cocuesque.

Yesterday's result + performance against Wycombe may prove a turning point. Many managers

lose their jobs from excess of caution and Rosenior may still be one of them.

Early in the second half I decided the only way we might get back into the game was if I had a change of scenery, so I popped out into the Tower of London Moat (currently planted for the Superbloom), listening to the Radio Derby commentary in the sunshine. Hourihane scored and I laughed as I knew this post would come back to haunt me, but I was delighted and thought I'd take just a tiny amount of vicarious credit. As fans we do everything we can to suck the ball into the opposition net.

Then I cheered when the winner went in and was spotted by a Beefeater mate (sadly a dirty Leeds fan) who came out to see what the fuss was about. But he wasn't averse to toasting the mighty Derby with some of my vodka and tonic (off duty).

I worried with the lineup that we simply didn't have enough attacking players on the pitch at the beginning, so well done to Liam for realizing and changing things up. It sounded as if the second half was much better. It's such an important win, going into a break on a high (late goals, especially winners, breed confidence), tweaking the setup for the better with Knight in midfield, and ditching the goalkicks. We could be on the right track.

If you were only listening on the radio, do share how you knew Hourihane didn't have the legs for a whole game?

What is it with all this Sibley sentiment. He is still struggling to live up to his hype post-Millwall 2020.  He needs to contribute more with goals and assists, and hopefully he will get another chance in the second half to evidence he can offer something consistently. Dobbin arguably has as much merit to be the first change if we need a youthful spark.

If you have watched the games this season I don't think the evidence is in your favour. Sibley's play  as sub  has offered much in the few games we have seen and Dobbin's contribution , whilst promising , shows he is still adjusting.

He was perfunctory and without Cashin giving a heroes performance we'd probably have lost.

As expected though an average performance is being bigged up as better than it was because oh no someone said nasty things about him on the internet.

Perfunctory is a harsh word to use. His performance today was better than that on effort alone. Seems like you are having to work hard to defend an opinion not actually relating to today's performance.

We do, we deserved the 21 points and we’re relegated. We have to accept that

I am very happy to blame Mel Morris for much of his errors in managing the club. However the accounting methods used are not part of that blame as i think the first tribunal verdict was the right one. The subsequent EFL appeal was spite and the points deduction for it unfair. That points deduction , unlike the administration points deduction, was arbitrary and some of the motivation questionable. We could have appealed that, but by then our situation was too complicated. We have to accept the points deduction but that is not to say we deserved it.  This is all water under the bridge and it is clear that David Clowes is working with the EFL to restore relationships

  14. Great to hear him say

" I will be listening to people  in all parts of the club"    Don't get the impression that Mel Morris did enough of this  and it is clear that his team from Clowes Developments are playing a big part.

Just as important was his intention to act with integrity and admitting that they won't have all the answers. His tribute to Lionel Pickering was welcome.

We are very fortunate  to have him as our owner and after all the garbage of the last twelve months it is hard to believe it has turned out like this. In the interview he seems such a genuine, likeable bloke.

I'll go with the ultimate happy clapper Rosenior. The team is certainly good enough, but if the results are not great from the start, it's on him.

The team  " is certainly good enough "  for what? There is a vast gulf between the  different expectations of fans ( going by whats posted on here) and those thinking we can get promotion  at the first attempt may well be disappointed. At the very least they will need patience  given the fact we have so many newcomers . Hope we can be competitive and win a few games .. that may have to be sufficient and anything else a bonus. That patience needs to extend to Rosenior  if you think " its on him " . He has had only a short time to try to integrate the players. No problems with Rosenior not being  critical of the players at this stage.

You could argue that MM only made one mistake...

    Not getting promoted

If we had, he'd still be m charge and everyone would adore him

    It's a funny old game

This  argument would be a complete let off. His model of governance was flawed and some on here pointed that out well before the sorry end - the fact that he was in sole control and did not surround himself with people able to argue a case for doing things differently. His previous business successes offered no guarantee of success in running a football club.

The constant turnover of managers (consider what he did with MacClaren) was a significant negative indicator from early on. Are we saying that we will accept any model of governance with deep flaws IF that leads to success? Having missed out on promotion and lost Lampard as manager, his  bringing in Cocu was the wrong step and showed an unrealistic grasp of our situation both in terms of player capability and our financial resources.

The move that impressed me most was when one of Peterborough attackers looked to have kicked it past him and had a clear run into the area.
Cashin was having none of that and ran shoulder to shoulder with the attacker for 10-15 yards, and just steered him out of play. I’d been worried about his alleged lack of pace but that put paid to that.

Spot on with this incidence  - Cashin showed great physical presence but also a steely calm determination. Just what our defence needs.
