Anyone seen their salty managers interview?? “An average side like derby” he’s such a moaning p*ick

Did he really say that? He said  something along the lines of any side would be in trouble conceding two goals against an average side , with the implication that it was far worse cos it was Derby. He actually compliments Derby saying how well we played , adding that it was men ( us ) against boys  (them).Colemans interview was far better than one might have expected from his graceless comments after the away game at their place.

Maybe Hourihane starts because of his experience? Plus as others have noted he’s not been dreadful but is just a bit of a luxury player when we all thought we were getting the Hourihane from 4 seasons ago so people are naturally let down.

Simplistic as ( like some others)  he's not been playing in the most appropriate position but his passing is more effective tan most though his defending is poor.

Awful execution of the corner and a terrible setup. After Hourihane underhit the pass, Sibbo should have taken the booking if he could, given we seemed to have zero cover. Barks did well chasing back.

Surely McGoldrick can't run and needed to go off for Osula, not Collins?

Perceptive as ever...... who scored the second goal? McGoldrick may not be able to run fast late into the game but he's our most skilful player.

Well, fans can't always agree.  I've been pleased the Club survived to start the season.  Fairly negative about Warneball, but generally positive. Tonight I thought was awful. Outplayed by an out-of-form team.  Memorable only for a McGoldrick tackle that was so late he missed his Red Card by about a whole second.

Pathetically negative - McGoldricks attempt which hit the bar was very memorable in comparison with the tackle you select. Suppose your confession that you are negative about Warne explains it. If you thought tonight was awful can't imagine what you have made of many of our matches in the last cou0ple of seasons - unless you are a fan of sterile possession playing out from the back.

Do you?  It can be hard to tell sometimes if a reply is serious or a joke (sorry)!

Being serious, Sibley's corners are far more effective. And there was a time when Bird took a decent corner too.

Have you watched recent games????? My question is totally serious and yes i think he makes a contribution. His corners seem better than Birds were last season for example.

When Cashin is back for the next game, we'll see where Warne stands. For me there's nothing Conor does that isn't done better by younger, more energetic midfielders. Playing 4-4-2 with everyone fir I would have a midfield pair of Knight and Sibley. With Knight injured I would probably have Bird and Sibley but you could make a case for Hourihane instead of Bird. With Warne's high-tempo game, Conor looks at the point where he should be on the bench getting a few minutes here and there, and advising the younger players behind the scenes.

You don't rate Hourihan's corners then?

    I hope not.

We all know Nigel Pearson’s 4-4-2 direct football was never going to work after Clough and McClaren had built a possession-based 4-3-3 side.

I’m sensing a deja vu. Sort of.

We had to get bodies in the building during the summer. But all of our signings were geared towards a possession-based 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1.

Smith, Hourihane and McGoldrick are three ball-playing central players. NML and Bark wide forwards.

But after just a handful of games we have ripped up the summer recruitment by ditching Rosenior and going for a manager with a completely different style.

Paul Warne plays 3-5-2. He has three promotions with that. I rate him highly. He isn’t going to move away from something he knows works, especially at this level.

But it’s clear we don’t have the players for his style. Barks is looking terrible at LWB. NML looks a shadow of the exciting wide forward of the first few games. I can see Hourihane struggling to get back in. McGoldrick too.

To get promoted, something must give. Warne will not get us promoted with this current side.

Changes will have to be made in January and next summer. I just hope DC is patient and smart enough to realize this and gives Warne the time to build a side who can play his system.

The only thing missing from this post is for you to say is that you want Warne replacing now. What we get is unjust criticism of many players and Warne himself.  Has Barkhuizen really been terrible in all his matches as LWB? You state that Clowes will need patience, do you and other fans have patience?

I would have dropped Hourihane for his handball last week, but it didn't matter as finally we got to see Louie Sibley in his best position anyway. I'm so pleased everyone saw it. Play him in midfield every week (a good combo with Bird and Knight as they do complement each other) and we will be promoted. Football's a simple game really.

Very happy for Wildsmith and Osulu too.

It would be truly stupid to have dropped Hourihane just because of the handball. Don't know how many of the games you have watched in full but Sibley has been inconsistent like Hourihane has.

Gamesmanship/cheating has been here as long as the football a was made out of a pigs bladder, The Hunter Vs Lee incident has been mentioned on here a couple of times, All started when Lee tripped himself up when running alongside Hunter to win a penalty, Lee was very cleaver at this, We loved it but it was cheating ?

Dean Sturridge did the same when winning a penalty against Southampton under Jim Smith, If it's your team most will say..."so what it's in the game and they all do it" when it's against us we complain, It was a clear dive for their 1st pen, The linesman gave the penalty he was right in line as the video shows, Incompetent is what this shower were.

It'll change when the people who run football FIFA instruct all FAs to review all games, Then retrospectively give a ban on the player for cheating, Then penalise the offending team 1 point...it will then stop.

But it aint going to happen is it?

In our current team Knight is quite good at dropping to the floor and getting a free kick.

The ref has to make a decision and for him it’s hard without replays. I’ve got that advantage, seen three clips and no way did he hit him and it wasn’t an overly aggressive slap on the ground either. The PV players grossly exaggerated the effects of what was just two players tangled together after close contact when competing for a ball and then by influencing the referee unfairly. Sorry lads, biased or not that is no way a red. You can blame the ref if you like but his only crime was being weak and being taken in by what some people call gamesmanship but i call cheating. LeVe the ref alone and let’s talk about the two PV players who are a stain on sportsmanship.

    Spot on!

Watched (on RamsTV) the Mansfield game, I know it wasn't our first X1, but was very disappointed in the way we allowed Mansfield to dominate after we scored.

Was at Pride Park today and loved the first 7-8 minutes, but then we went downhill and allowed Port Vale to dominate the rest of the game, much as Mansfield did on Tuesday.

Mitigating factors, yes the ref; After watching the Queen open Pride Park in 1997, I can't remember an away team having 2 penalties awarded to them outside of a penalty shoot-out, and I'm struggling to remember when we last had a penalty awarded against us at Pride Park.  However, how awful the ref was today (and he was appalling), what worries me is the response our current team has to any determined attacks against it.

I really hope that I am over-reacting to a disappointing loss, but I can't not ask the question:  are the current recently assembled squad who agreed to come to Derby County to play for the football Rooney and latterly Rosenior advocated, willing to play the style of football advocated by Paul Warne?

Its far too soon to making conclusions and the number of posters already prepared to rage against individual players is disappointing. Do we expect the players to instantly be able to switch to Warneball?

For several years we have lacked players that are physically strong and 'give as good as they get'  and admittedly these players are what are needed in this division and with Warne's style of play. But yesterday's loss would most likely have been avoided but for the sending off of Collins - one player down and missing one of the key players for the new style of play.

  12. Sorry to see him go, he has shown such great commitment to the club. Everyone including Warne owes him for the very sound start he has given the club this season, considering the playing staff left at the end of administration.  In this statement he shows much more class than some other managerial staff we have had over the years. We will never know all the reasons why he was not made permanent manager, but I do wonder if his rather inflexible  statements about sticking with his way of us playing out from the back were wise.

The official Twitter account wrote that 'our new boss has been promoted every season he's been in this division'.  Conveniently ignoring that he's been immediately relegated each time too.  It's a strange appointment - not awful, but lacking the potential that Liam might have had.

Cocu had potential and that worked out well.

Usually a manager is replaced after a poor run of results. Liam has cobbled together a squad in a matter of weeks and got us to 7th. Good enough for me. How do you know Warne will improve things? As I commented earlier, if we are 10th at Christmas, 8 points from the play offs, what do you do then?

I would have been happy with no change. there has been some enjoyable football  this season . But the memory of watching away matches since Cocu to current time has been very frustrating. The stats for recent away form are stark but also very unusual in that points away from home have been so rare. Rosenior has been a coach for all this time and even when interim manager has not sorted things. There is no guarantee as to how much Warne will improve this but that's where gratitude to David Clowes will mute my criticism
