  1. Sentiment should not affect decisions about playing staff. We need to get things right next season on the pitch and from what we have seen from him this season will he be up to the physical demands we expect e.g his lack of pace? We should appeal the red card for the sake of the poor refereeing and get it called out. We don't have to argue it cost us a play-off place.

  2. Priority needs to be given to bringing in competent forwards. (Can we ditch Collins?)That was the most serious deficiency  not only of the last two transfer windows but also the previous season. Not saying it will be easy to achieve this but our goal scoring record has been poor. Bolton apart, all the teams above us did significantly better and interestingly of the teams below us only Charlton scored more goals.

Unfortunately, they are right, we do have some embarrassing individuals in this website. Burton were generally very dignified in their defeat, played the game fairly and I do not see why anyone should have any issues with a Club that is run very well.

You missed the Burton time wasting from the off, then. Horrible.

Just saying it as I heard it. Your commentary was from the away end wasn’t it? We weren’t at our best at all, the line up and the performance put paid to that, but we sang for most of the game. I could see you guys bouncing a bit but we just couldn’t hear you at all, the sound doesn’t carry well. It’s what happens at a lot of grounds, one team sings ‘is this your library?’ and the other team sing ‘we forgot that you were here’.

Anyway, my work here is done, good luck for the rest of the season 👍

But your account of the incident is fiction anyway. Rather than shoulder contact, your player went close and kicked out with his leg - can't see if contact actually made. So cut the sanctimonious stuff. Did you notice when one of your coaches picked up the ball when it went out close to the dug out and he actually carried it into the dugout and the ball disappeared for a while. This all because he wanted to delay the Derby throw until your players were ready. What business has a coach picking up the ball unless to throw it straight back onto the field.

I hope Ipswich get automatic and we get in the play offs. I don't fancy playing them in the play offs because they are better than us.

I have been critical of Warne, his team selections and tactics. But yesterday i don't think it would have made any difference,  Warne made 5 subs and not a scrap of difference. Ipswich were still better than us.

To expect the substitutions to make an improvement assume Warne has good ideas about tactics and formation and picking players to suit. Selections for the last few matches seem rather random and when did his substitutions make a difference  - only rarely.

Wildsmith - doesn’t look overly confident of late

    Rooney - did ok

Cashin - lucky to still be selected every week because he is making to many mistakes as well as being bossed today by the centre forward

Forsyth - tends to be trying to do everyone’s jobs

mendiz - doesn’t like playing wing back

    Roberts - did ok

    Bird - didn’t do a lot

    smith - did ok

Knight - you tell he played vs France this week

    Collins - nothing worth mentioning

McGoldrick - played well but missed a sitter

subs - they don’t improve us do they !

Collins ... You were asleep for his cross across the box close in ?? McGoldrick could have scored.

I should watch the second goal from Saturday back. Forsyth made up about 30 yards on Hourihane through pure desire to stop their player.

Warne could have taken Hourihane off at that point for me.

Fair play on the goal contributions stat though, was not aware of that.

A very limited interpretation ... look back it's not that Hourihane gives up , rather he hesitates as to which of two Fleetwood players to challenge and then goes after the player going down the outside. Forsyth just runs back as quick as he can paying no attention to where their players are at all , and his challenge on the scorer was completely ineffective. It was actually Forsyth who gave the ball away in the first place with a completely p poor pass/cross on the edge of their are , when we had so many players forward. No wonder he was running back so fast.

Hourihane is one of our best players on paper, unfortunately football isn't played on paper. Been a huge disappointment and doesn't warrant a starting position in my opinion.

Why do you think Warne has started him in so many games..... sorry you won't get it cos you don't see it  ?

Agreed. If Hourihane is to blame for that goal then no more so than several others. Fozzie puts in a nothing cross and when it rebounds to him he loses the 50:50. Hardly critical in that position more times than not. Fleetwood get control of the ball and Cashin takes a hopeful swish, missing the ball and landing flat on his backside. Now the break is on and Hourihane, Forsyth, Davies, Cashin and Smith are running back (different speeds, different trajectories). Hourihane pursues until Forsyth overtakes and is clearly first in line to make a block, but he's completely bamboozled by the cut inside, and Hourihane doesn't seem to have anticipated it either, but arguably he's now not in the best position to guard against it without giving away a penalty. Davies is covering his options with a sort of hopeful slump-block which might get in the way of a shot to either post (probably fractionally unsighting Wildsmith in the process) but it doesn't work.

Absolutely no-one covered themselves in glory with that, but it was still a fairly unusual sort of goal and very well finished. What was not unusual in the context of the match was how often (before and after) Fleetwood looked dangerous down the flanks.

A large section on here have been critical of Hourihane for months regardless of what he actually does contribute on the pitch. He is one of the worst players we have ever had , defensively. Not sure that Warne is using him in a way that utilises his best skills. The defensive role he has in midfield just doesn't suit  That said he gives the ball away far less than many and his dead ball kicks can be very good and has scored some key goals . Barkhuisen's corners yesterday were awful and can't be blamed on 'tactics', just a low skill level.

This team lacks steel and grit. Some decent enough players, but we need some hard men in this league

This is a comment we could have made for many recent seasons, not just this one. Given the high

manager turnover its surprising that it has been such a constant feature.

Good first period but overall not a convincing win. Forsyth and Cashin solid as always, White showing he is top drawer, Barks looking sparky. But too often we’re disorganised in the middle of the pitch and up front. We’ll struggle against stronger opposition if we don’t have a better plan

Drearily negative , Bolton game forgotten

Wasn’t last night just a reality check? We are a pretty good LEAGUE 1 Team, with a few players of Championship quality. We are currently nowhere near being able to compete against strong Premier League opposition, indeed a few injuries to key players and we are unlikely to be able to compete against strong League 1 opposition. Warne appears to be getting us organised - that was again evident last night - but two key players were ‘off’ last night which made the game impossible, especially with McGoldrick lame. Let’s continue to enjoy the fact that we have a very strong club, and a highly committed group of players and coaching staff. I remain confident, based on what I have seen over recent weeks, that Warne will have us ready for a really good go at play-off success come season end. A couple of additions today would be ideal (decent forward, and versatile defender).

Not sure what 'reality' is being checked here. If lower league teams manage to beat  a Premier League team in the cup it's not always because they have the quality to beat a superior team. A one=off win often involves a cramped pitch, a poor playing surface and perhaps a complacent selection by the Premier league team. How many good results have we had against top teams even whilst in the Championship, with better players than now. We have had some good performances without winning. As soon as the teams were announced , it was rather obvious we had reduced chances with both McGoldrick and Cashin not in the starting line up. Cashin gets us out of so many scrapes against League 1 teams it seemed ominous to be without him. Most fans are focussed on league results and we will readily fall back on the argument that a cup run is often a distraction.
