Sadly the minority will go on the pitch. That bit is inevitable.

I hope after ten minutes they return to their seats so the team can come back out.

Someone said do it in the directors box - that’s unfair on the players and unfair on the fans who stay in their seats.

I would like to think the players can walk around the pitch with their families with unlimited space and over the Tannoy each player can be introduced and thanked appropriately.

I know hindsight is 20/20 but that was never a minority and the players seemed to have loved it.

I know every club has it's idiot supporters but ours seemed to be done in the right spirit. What a day

    I'm still buzzin

The club are not asking... they are telling... don't do it.
The law says... don't do it.
"The best way to gain promotion is by the Play-Offs" is oft-written... do they invade the pitch at Wembley?
Hysterically approaching a player who has yet to make himself safe by dashing down the tunnel, just to "Plant a big fat kiss" could (understandably) be misconstrued as a potential attack/assault.  Remember, there will be confusion, concern, and uncertainty from some quarters.

All it takes... literally... is one jubilant fan being tripped/nudged/held back by a viz'd up official whose sole job/instruction is to attempt to fend off a pitch invasion for the mood to change.  Just one defensive/evasive swing of the arm can be caught on the numerous cameras, and have you stood in the dock before you can say "I wish I'd listened to Uncle Mucker"!

    #keep it classy
#pitch for players, stands for fans
#we'll all be havin' a party, when Derby County rise

I've just seen the latest post from the club warning us and I've changed my stance. I'll stay in my seat because I'm too much of a goody two shoes to risk a criminal record and certainly don't want a club ban.

If there's 10,000 + on there then I'll venture on but calmly 😄

I'm sure in the past they've done the "appreciation" from the directors box while we applauded from the pitch. Did I just dream that happening?

I remember Gary Teale up there listening to us singing that song about how he "used to be sh*t but now he's alright" 🤣

That was during that wierd period where we went on the pitch for no reason, or am I remembering it wrong now? We did it after beating Milwall to stay up but I'm sure we did it whilst finishing mid table.

That's just you though. Can you vouch for all the others running on the pitch? I don't think anyone would deny that we have our fair share of morons. All it could take is for one Carlisle player to react to being blocked from reaching the tunnel and react in a way you might not expect.

I agree with @Ian Buxton's Bat's comment that a pitch invasion, whilst it might give a few their moment of jumping around on the pitch, it might deprive the majority of enjoying the bounce started by PW and the players (and their families) lap of appreciation (unless the pitch can be cleared fairly quickly).

Of course I cannot vouch for anyone else and I'm not saying I'm right by the way. Just confessing to liking a pitch invasion and (perhaps naively) picture the day being like 1996 where there's the initial euphoria of fans celebrating on the pitch followed by a jubilent lap of honour.

I'm probably getting too excited and I am more than likely in the wrong, just being honest on how I see things mate.

Invading the pitch would spoil the celebrations of many fans sat above ground level access to the pitch. Why can’t people wait and let the players /staff do their lap of honour so everyone can see, join in and applaud the efforts made during the season.

to my mind it is a selfish act to invade the pitch.

I think after the past few years in which we very nearly went out of existence amongst other things, it must surely be hard to begrudge people celebrating this (pottential) great achievement by going way over the top.

You don't get pitch invations at places like Old Trafford or Anfield because they're used to success and take it for granted.

But for us, what have we had to celebrate? Other than the two promotions in the 80s when I was too young to remember, we've had Promotion in 1996 and Promotion in 2007. Great days by the way.

But that's it. I'm nearly 40 and should everything go the way we hope, this is the third big celebration in my life and the first since I was 21.

I'm going to forget myself, the boring law abiding citezen that I am and for one day and one day only I'm going to run as hard and fast onto that pitch and try and plant a big fat kiss on any one of this season's heroes, I will soak it all up with my fellow rams fans, then I'll head back to the stand and applaud the players, manager and staff before heading into town until god knows when.

I'm so excited, it genuinly feels exactly the same as creeping down the stairs on Christmas morning full of anticpation for what's behind the living room door.

So I'll behave, I won't be a thug, but I will forget my age and responsibilites for a day and enjoy feeling like a big kid on Christmas

  6. I'm in favour of pitch invasions, ever since that wonderful day as a 10 year old boy at the Baseball ground, high fiving Ron Willems and having a cuddle with Chris Powell!

I talk about that day every single time I see a pitch invasion elsewhere. I think about it now and then for no reason.

It's a top 5 moment in my entire life and I like to think there are youngsters at Pride park who in 28 years time be looking back on the Carlise match in the same way I do that Crystal Palace match.

It doens't have to be ruined by thuggery, it can be magical

Oh no!! I’ve just considered the world’s most squeaky bum scenario.

peterboro win their game in hand. Then Bolton and boro both win their next game and we lose to Cambridge

then we’re all the same points going into the last game of the season. With them playing each other.

the twists and turns during 90 mins of that last day will be ridiculous. I’d still expect us to beat Carlisle, but still, there will probably be a moment before we take the lead when either boro or Bolton score, and we’ll be technically out of the autos for a moment. Can you imagine the gnashing of teeth in here during those moments!?

    It would be exciting though!

Picture the scene.  We've secured 2nd by winning our next 3 games and Bolton choking against Pompey.  Without anyone knowing the team run out against Carlise wearing an update of this

    Can you imagine...

My favourite shirt of all time! Probably because I was only 10 when we beat Palace. The age where footballers are more like actual gods to you.

I paid well over £100 for this shirt a couple years back in proper mint condition and just wear it all the time and made it way less than mint condition!

Does anyone know if Adams finishes his Ramadan fasting today?

It's been a bloody good effort from him given his form and whilst I guess you'd adapt to it I still can't help but think of exercise (let alone professional sports) without water and some calories as borderline impossible.

Yep, fair play to him. I spent the first day of Ramadan in Saudi this year and was going to give joining in the fast a go out of politeness but the very second the people I was working with offered to allow us to drink some water and have a smoke, I caved...... and that was before 9am 😄

I'm sure he'll be getting plenty of nutrition today

People keep referring to the period since the Portsmouth game as a "break", but it's only 1 day more than a normal Saturday to Saturday period. The team shouldn't experience any negative effects from this, but should benefit from not having played at the weekend.

It genuinly feels like ages to me but you're right.

In fact it falls nicely for us, as we've had 1 week and a day to prepare for the game (so not too different to any normal week like you say) and they've had Monday and Tuesday.

I've just cursed it I think

It seems @Comrade 86 that your match preview has gone down about as well as a turd in a Jambalaya on the Wycombe forum.

    https://gasroom.org/discussion/8719/efl-trophy-final/p32

You'd think, living in High Wycombe, they'd appreciate a bit of humour to take their minds off parking problems and the lack of affordable housing, but seemingly not.

It's like we're supposed to be grateful or some-such.

Who’s the Derby fan on there sucking up to them all? 😂

Really? Do you honestly think we are playing well enough to lose only 1 of our last 10 games? I would think 5 wins, 2 draws and 3 defeats is much more likely…

We went for 9 wins and a draw over a period of 10 games earlier in the season and I don't think we were playing well at that point if that is possible. No better or worse than now. The whole season has been meh somehow despite being in the mix up top

This team could either repeat that and take 28 from 30 points or at the same time, could easily lose 5 of the remaining 10.

  13. We have a squad way above average (possibly the best?) in a division that is dreadful.

I honestly believe we're second in the league in spite of Paul Warne, not because of him.

Someone like Nathan Jones, whether you like him or not, would have us top of this division as we'd see games out.

And we wouldn't have the best Centre Half at the club playing left back

Interesting point - wouldn't that be lovely? The bookies are all over the show (as Graham Richards might have said) about this, which suggests just how tight at the top it is. According to Oddschecker:

    • To win the league: Portsmouth and Bolton are joint favourites (11/4) then Derby at 3/1. [Peterborough 6/1 then Barnsley 28/1]
    • To get promoted: Derby are favourites at 8/15, with Portsmouth and Bolton joint second at 8/11. [Posh 5/6 then Stevenage 10/3]
    • To finish top 2: Portsmouth (10/11) then Derby (evens) then Bolton (11/10). [Posh 2/1, Barnsley and Stevenage 12/1]

So the money is saying it's a four-horse race but, after last night, Peterborough are outsiders with nothing to call between the other three.

This is why I love footy, it's almost impossible to call yet we do it anyway, and even argue about it 😄

Interesting Bolton are joint favourites to win it and only thrid favourite to finish in the top 2, I just can't get my head around that one!

As for Peterbourough being outsiders, this is true after last night's results yet there will be bad results for everyone and who can guess how many times we'll all take it in turns at being the outsider between now and the final top 2 being established?

Can't wait for spring and the nice weahter and clarity of who will finish in the top 6 it brings

  15. I think the top 2 will be Bolton and us, with Peterbourough just missing out and pompey 6 or 7 points adrift.

I've always thought there was not much difference between winning the league and coming second but I've changed my mind this year and would like to see us be champions.

Optimistic? maybe but I feel like we can do it!

  16. Based on nothing other than the experience of being a Derby fan my whole life, I can just see us dropping points on Saturday, struggling but winning against Exeter, either 4 or 3 points from those two games and everyone (myself included) going into meltdown even though it's not that bad before convincingly thrashing Stevenidge and finding oursevels in 2nd because the teams around us also drop points that they don't think they should

0-0 Saturday is my gut feeling, like I say, based on nothing other than that's what happens we're in this position!
