There’s nothing to be fearful about in the Championship and I can’t believe this narrative is already being pushed.

The jump in quality really isn’t that significant, outside of the usual teams we see every year that are leaning on parachute payments to keep their squads together. Even then these teams are nothing close to infallible, especially in one off games.

A third of promoted teams from League 1 in the past five years have not only gone up and consolidated their position but they have competed at the right end of the Championship table, in some cases getting promoted or mightily close.

The teams that usually go up and find their way back to League 1 are the ones without the resources or infrastructure to hold their own.

We are only going to end up like Rotherham, Wycombe, Barnsley, Blackpool, Peterborough and others if we show a serious lack of ambition financially or there is a lack of synergy and effective strategy behind the scenes.

If Clowes, Pearce, Thomas, Hale and Warne are all working well and pulling in the same direction, why is it beyond us to build a competitive squad for the Championship, one that could finish 15-18th in year one, for instance?

No-one stands still and neither will we. Everyone resets. Teams get better. Teams get worse. Managers change. Managers improve. Managers decline.

There are so many variables at play, why would we be fearful now when we can work towards a stronger position over the summer? Such needless negativity when nothing is set in stone.

    Well said @Jourdan

Can I also add, a couple of years ago, maybe more, maybe less, your posts would irritate the hell out of me and maybe others? as I found them really negative but I think this falling in love and getting married malarkey has changed your outlook on Derby County and possibly out with other things in your life.

Well done @Jourdan I like your new style and enjoy reading your posts on the forum now and as you say such needless negativity when nothing is set in stone……….

Enjoy life, we only get one shot at it.

We’ve won 2 on the bounce with an aggregate score of 6-0 and gone clear in 2nd, even if others win their games in hand.  We’re now back to psychoanalysing everything Warne and his staff say.  You couldn’t make it up!!

  5. The Rams with the Warne & his side
    Behind the hatred, there lies
    A murderous desire for love

How can they look into my eyes
And still they don't believe me?
How can they hear me say those words
    Still they don't believe me?
And if they don't believe me now
    Will they ever believe me?
And if they don't believe me now
Will they ever, they ever believe me?
    Oh, oh, oh, oh

The Rams with the Warne & his side
    Behind the hatred there lies
    A plundering desire for l-l-love

How can they see the love in our eyes
And still they don't believe us?
    And after all this time
They don't want to believe us
And if they don't believe us now
    Will they ever believe us?
And when you want to live
    How do you start?
    Where do you go?

  6. The glory years at the Baseball Ground are now a distant memory, and modern Rams fans have become accustomed to turbulent times on and off the pitch. Clowes was among thousands who marched from the city centre to the stadium just over two years ago in a desperate plea for the club to be saved.

Having steered his beloved Rams out of troubled waters, the local businessman would not have expected it to be plain sailing in League One – but Derby are still in the play-off spots and remain in contention for the automatic places.

From what I’m told, Clowes absolutely loves Warne and wouldn’t sack him within the term of his contract, no matter what happens. HOWEVER… he’s about the only one at the club who feels that way. Many other senior figures lost faith in him long ago. In fact, I was told the other day that Warne is likely to resign at the end of this season irrespective of promotion, such is the strain of those other relationships.

We don't play Barnsley though and if they win their game in hand, they're above us.

So are you saying you would have preferred Bolton winning tonight who are also above us and would then be 3 points ahead of us even though we still have to play them.

And if you didn’t like tonight’s draw then you would have preferred Barnsley winning tonight who then would have the same points as us, with a game in hand, and if they won that, they would be 3 points ahead of us, but we don’t play Barnsley though.

Surely the draw has enabled us to be just 1 point behind both teams, if Barnsley win their game in hand. And better still if Barnsley lose their game in hand, they are 2 points behind us, or draw it, 1 point behind us.

Ok here goes ,, surprise surprise, I have a bit of a gripe/ concern today even after a win which I’m really pleased with but my issue is not this I don’t like warne style football or I much prefer liam style stuff , I’ve already said today that if I saw a flaw and fair stick to beat the manager with it’s the home results and yes I know we won today but I really was surprised we went in at 2-0 half time because I really thought here we go again after we went 1-0 up and I thought we were poor first half , ive not really been able to pin down where or why it’s been going wrong at home but it came to me very simply during that first half that warne and the staff really need to put a rocket up these players backsides at time and my concern is whether he is too nice a bloke to tear them a new one when needed , I realise I may be miles off the mark and it’s just guess work or gut feel on my part 🤷🏻‍♂️,

there’s so much anti warne that I’ve taken a look at what it was I liked about his sides when he first came and all the games I’ve really enjoyed where some just don’t like any ,, well here it is , when it’s right the gas’s out idea of warne and being super fit covering the ground is was all about pressing the poo out of teams , not giving them a second to breath on the ball and when we get the ball back and or get in front going for the opponents throat for 90 mins , we hunted in packs and by hell I really enjoyed that , for some reason we have lost or gone away from that , even the simple thing of our throw ins shows it clear as day , no bugger is moving ,demanding the ball and the thrower is left standing like a lemon and all too often launches a long 50/50 throw up the line ,

get back to the game style you like mr warne because plenty of us fans enjoy that , it’s gets us off our seats and right behind the team , for me game management is not about slowing it down and trying to play tika taka keep ball that just invites teams on to us and we start panicking and hitting loose passes , has warne lost his way a bit under criticism of not playing pretty pretty football? If so I hope he goes back to type for the rest of the season because if he does and gets the players fired up and back on it this squad will be top two

C’mon @Archied don’t let them get to you on here. Up The Rams 🐏

  10. I thought we played well in the first half of the Charlton game and deserved our lead which I thought we gave away in the second half through two avoidable errors that came from the build up of not carrying out the basics of the game, passing, composure and decision making which all deteriorated throughout the second half and became frustrating to all of us, players, coaches, chairman, staff, supporters etc. Players becoming sloppy and repeating the same things that gave the ball away and were not benefiting the team.

I’ve mentioned this in other match threads. How many times does NML want to try and pass (nutmeg) a ball through an opposing player when numerous opportunities are given to him to pass the ball earlier, and to a team mate, along the ground, with a clean pass, not bobbling and bouncing, all ending up with the same result every time, possession lost, his team on the back foot and players out of position and NML no longer in possession.

Why does MB over play it, try to play a pass whilst looking in the opposite direction to the man he’s passing too, trying to kid on his opposing player, and then the ball goes behind his team mate and a real good attacking opportunity is wasted. These are a couple of examples of many others that if simplified with effective passing and keeping possession effectively and accurately, well timed passes, like what EC does very regularly and if carried out by all eleven players, are the many small margins that can make the difference in fixtures with positive results.

We won 1-0 away at Charlton with a goal from NML with a good pass from MB and our basics were good that day. And we beat Barnsley 3-0 at home with 2 goals from JC and CF, two players currently missing through injury.

We are not getting beaten by loads currently, it really is small margins, and errors at the moment, that all people make in life. I don’t think formations play much into it, when players are not playing to their full potential and doing the basics to their full potential. Football players can play all over the pitch and should be thankful for the wonderful position and lifestyle they have and should give their all, when out on the pitch.

I do wonder how some folk on here would deal with their loved ones, their family members, when their family members make errors in life, do we stick loyal knowing that are family are good people, do we support them, be there for them, knowing certain set backs can make all of us stronger, do we learn together how to deal with certain situations, stick by each other, offer support, listen and help, watch out for them, and move on together, learning together and hopefully benefiting all involved.

A couple of bad results, 0 points, that could have been 1, 2, 3, 4 or 6 points. Time to move on together, regroup and support one another. Paul Warne and all the staff at the club will be learning together to move on and searching for improved performances and results going forwards, we can help by supporting them.
