StarterForTen reacted to LazloW in Milton Keynes Dons (A) (Sat 12th Nov 2022)
Well, of course we are. We are a League 1 team that was put (thrown) together in about a fortnight from a mixture of free signings and kids. Add injuries, a general lack of fitness (for some), suspensions and change of management, what exactly were you expecting? We haven't even got to December yet - it was always going to take some time. Neither Warne nor Rosenior are miracle workers.

He claims to be Simon Hart, but that looks like BC to me.

It's the fact that the fixture counts as a first team game for one side, but it isn't for the other - that's just mad. It's either a first team game or it isn't - can't be both!

PLUS....
The game might be our first home match in five weeks - no scheduled home games in November unless we get a home cup draw(s).

I think that line-up shows just how far the club has come since July 1st. That's a well-balanced and decent 'all-change' XI - even without McGoldrick and Kasey Smith

I see Hull City have just parted company with their manager. Perhaps one eye on Mr Rosenior's availability on that decision?
He has Hull history.

This talk of Warne setting up Rotherham to play direct is, in my opinion, a good sign that he is a decent coach - not the the opposite. He built and managed a team to be as successful as possible within the means at his disposal, and physical endeavour is a cheaper commodity to work with than technical ability.
The fact that Rotherham have struggled each time they have been promoted to the Championship shows that those financial boundaries have a ceiling of achievement and, I suspect, he's a bit fed up of continually trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. He probably wants to work with a bit more budget and capability to see how far he can take a team - therefore that doesn't mean Derby would play in the same style as Rotherham have.
This smacks to me of a good move. My only reservation is that Warne has been successful with only one club (a club he's been a part of for many years in a number of roles) and you never know if that will transfer to a different set of circumstances. Look at Nathan Jones at Luton. - he went to Stoke and bombed, yet picked up where he left off back at Kenilworth Road.

£8k a week? Isn't that less than some of the players are on? Doesn't seem to be too overboard a demand. does it?

I got so excited starting a thread I forgot to say why. I achieve one of my bucket list objectives on Saturday, being part of a hospitality package - 71 seasons after I first went to BBG. Haven’t always been able to attend regularly but have remained a half or quarter fan and followed us faithfully.
My youngest was 50 this year and a well off friend bought him a hospitality package - so, as well as a meal, we get to sit in the director’s box. So, he’s now able to do as he promised and he doesn’t even have to pay for it!
I’m so excited and it’s taken me so long to type this, someone has probably got in before me to start the thread.
P.S. I hope the food’s better than last night’s football ?

To break it down simply, we're the only team in the EFL not to score an away goal and to be fair other than Charlton we've played some right pony. It's not about expecting us to steam roller teams because we're Derby County its expecting to beat the very poor teams in this division because our squad on paper is far superior.
I'd argue that we got lucky against Peterborough and had to rely on Cashin turning in to Maldini to hang on against Barnsley. I'm really struggling to see any positives. Yes its only 8 matches in but if we were sat on 11 points after convincing wins against Shrewsbury and Lincoln after giving them a good hiding i'd see the light.
Lets see what Saturday brings.
