Would he be on the bench then.
Yes, if just a niggle. But at 3-0 up, why risk him?
probably just there for cover for NML

Glad Wards had the game he was well due for in a more advanced role. Is CBT alive. If he ain't getting 25 minutes here he must be a duffer.
Or injured?

5 at the back ? Against port vale at home.
There is no words for it. Mind blowing
It’s not five though is it; it’s three. Neither Sibley or Ward are full backs.

Cashin at left back? He played there for last 10-15 at Barnsley. Could still be a 4. I’d prefer that to 3 at the back.
BBC showing the line up as 4-4-1-1 with Bird just behind Gayle.

3-2-4-1 in front of Wildsmith.
Nelson - Bradley - Cashin
Adams - Bird
Wilson - NML - Barkhuizen - Sibley
Gayle

So many get fixated by individual match results but really the only thing that matters in the promotion challenge is to maintain a rolling 10points return across the last five games. It doesn’t matter where the points come from - they all count the same value. If we keep that rolling two pints per game average we’ll be there or thereabouts come the end of the season.
And even after today’s game, we are still at 10 points from the last five games.

Imagine if we had a good manager, we’d be smashing this league.

I can only assume it's a change of shape. He did play well
Is it now 3-4-3?

Who says there is one?
Anyway, I reckon the DCFC admin are watching the weather forecast to seen when they can unveil him with the headline “The forecast is for Gayle’s in Derby”.
As long as the headline isn’t ‘blowing a Gayle’ !!

Vale have offered him an 18 months contract, according to the S-o-T jungle drums.
(EDIT: that’s from my brother in Newcastle under Lyme)

Happy to be corrected here, but I have it as:
We win all our remaining games, we finish on 105pts
If Bolton win all their remaining games... except the one in which they lose to us... they end up with 105pts.
If they overturn our current +4 GD advantage, they end up above us.Therefore, Bolton can outdo us, regardless of how we do... which equates to it being not in our own hands just yet.
🤷♂️
For that scenario to happen Portsmouth would have been beaten twice ( by us and Bolton) so the most they could get is 102 points, making promotion in our own hands.

I haven’t seen the game so can’t comment on how we’ve played but I have to say I don’t get this whole ‘we should be beating Stevenage’ line, as if they are canon fodder. They have occupied a top six spot for more of this season than Derby, have a top three away record and set up in a way that many ‘ better’ sides struggle against.
As the old adage goes, you have to earn the right to win a game before you win a game. That appears to be the case today.

He was on £35k a week at Stoke. Surely he’d want more than our allowable salary limit wouldn’t he?
(EDIT: Not that I’m saying he’s worth that!)

45% player wages is still a significant operating loss each season - £5m minimum, more likely around thr £7.5m mark
Would that suggest the club spends circa £17m a year on costs other than player wages?

I'm not sure things are that bad. There are a handful of posters like this but most people are reasonable.
Have you seen match threads? Some of the comments on there are as rational as a toddler fuelled on blue Smarties.

I hope his duties at Roverum did not include away games. They’ve not won a match on the road for 15 months!

Just had a text from a journo friend north of the border who reckons Rangers were sniffing around Bird as a summer target. A 'cross border' transfer would have seen him go for virtually free (a bit of FIFA compensation would be due I think), which might point to why this deal was done in this window perhaps?

I know we have eyes on a bigger prize but, with 10 games to play, we’re now 12 points clear of seventh so a minimum of the play offs is now pretty much nailed on.
Great platform just to go for it from here.
