I think the idea is... you can see what the usage is and might try ans actively reduce it? Or if you can see it goes up a lot a certain periods, it might highlight how much certain appliances are costing in energy. Basically educate you more so you can make better decisions.

I have to be honest, we have one and it's stuck out the way so actually makes no difference at all to my habits. But I can't see any reason not to have one? It doesn't cost you any extra, unless there's some hidden agenda from the energy suppliers?

Yeah I guess I just already switch lights off when leaving a room and turn the TV off when no one is watching it so don't need a meter showing me that doing so uses energy.

If it works for others that's great, would just question how people don't know this stuff already.

You're right, perhaps CK should have used his old Derbyshire Building Society junior savings account, or the HSBC super saver account he set up in 2018, 'just in case'

Not saying it's particularly irregular in itself but additional checks for a new account should have been factored into the time frame and all the I's dotted and T's crossed before it got to this point. This can't be the first time they've had to actually complete a sale of a company they're administrating.

    How feckin amateur all round.

Quantuma are supposed to be expert administrators and Kirchner is supposedly a high powered businessman.

Not knowing that opening a brand new account and buying a football club with the funds deposited would cause alarm bells to ring with the money laundering squad is totally second rate. You'd have thought someone within either rank would have raised the point that it might cause a delay at best. God knows they're raking enough in on the back of this misery.

    What's their hourly rate again?

  4. I fail to see the purpose of a smart meter, beyond not having to submit readings which is only a 30 second job every 3 months anyway. Seems to be a product made for the sake of keeping British Gas engineers busy.

Your energy usage is your energy usage, having a meter showing the kettle you just boiled cost you 20p isn't going to stop you making that cup of tea is it?

Didn't everyone elses dad used to go round switching lights off around the house and turning TV's off standby? That seems just as effective. Maybe I'm missing something else they do.

  5. Not a chance would I tip anyone in this country.

Especially in a restaurant - the cost of the meal includes the cost of waiting staff and chefs as well as ingredients. Hence why your Carbonara isn't £1.00.

Postmen, binmen and milkmen all receive at least minimum wage, so why would I tip them? Most of the time my mail is wet, my bin is left 30 yards from where I left it, and I don't have milk delivered. Wouldn't be any different if I gave them a Christmas bribe either.

I round up in Europe to the nearest ten if it's a good meal and good service, usually because food is cheaper and I'm in a generous holiday mood, but they have minimum wages too so not sure why I still do that. Might review that in future now that I think about it.

America... I bitch and moan about it before I go and rewatch the Reservoir Dogs opening a few times, but it's their culture, so I'm a good little tourist and follow their 'rules'.

Always easier to blame the Scousers I suppose.

Yep. So many axes to grind, so many biases and so much (mis)information available.

Personal opinion is that it's likely a combination of trigger happy French police, past English fans behaviour, stupid exterior stadium design (if you've been you know what it's like outside), some moronic locals, some fake tickets bought in good faith, some bought knowing they would give a chance of getting in, some Liverpool fans trying to jib...

Unfortunately people want to pin the blame on one of those factors as we need to be able to say *this thing* was the reason. Stupid humans.

  7. My favourite argument the gun nuts make is that the right to bear arms is somehow to protect individuals from the tyranny of the state.

The US DoD contributes one third of the entire worlds expenditure on defence. A couple of pistols, an AR15 and a bulletproof vest ain't gonna protect you when the Apache's start strafing your house lads.

    It'll never change though.

I've given things away on FB marketplace FOR FREE just to get them out of the house. Some of the messages I got back were utterly mental. The most annoying being the "I'll only take it if you can deliver it, I'm only 15 miles away" followed by a tirade of abuse when I say no.

Mate, it's free. Get it yourself or duck off. Simple as that you entitled clown.

FB marketplace for me always goes like this.

Richard Head: Is this still available?

    Reply: Yes.

    RH: *no reply*

  9. Other dog owners. Never in one field has there been so many know-it-all know-nothings as that of dog ownership.

A "good morning" and quick sniff is all we need.

I don't have the time for, nor do I want to stop and make idle small talk for 10 minutes.

And I certainly don't need your 'friendly advice' or opinions on dog behaviour, training, diet and ownership for my dog!

Totally forgot about ‘chinny’, it could range from over dramatic gurning to a subtle scratch. Great way of taking down bulls hitters at school.

Football wise was always cuppy singles/doubles and headers and volleys.

There was a game called lergy which was basically hide and seek but you had to get back to base before whoever was on.

knockadoor run and cat creeping in back gardens.

Have a few Scot’s mates who called it ‘knock a door ginger’

We had this but it was called Haki round our way.

Somewhere along the line at school (ours must have been affiliated with the Hitler Youth) this then got corrupted to Haki (add racist P word here).

We also had a game called Lob. Which was some mutant version of dodgeball/bulldog/World War 1.

Crowds form at two ends of the playground, never even sides, no mans land in the middle (usually indicated by the hockey markings).

Tennis balls (the occasional cricket wind ball and even rogue golf balls) are then lobbed/pelted across this no mans land at the opposing side. If you get caught the thrower joins your team, if you get hit you are out, if the ball bounces in the opponents third you are safe.

If the ball ends up in no mans land the last person to touch the ball has to retrieve it under fire from both sides. Whichever side hits the person has them join their team.

If you hit the mesh fence at either end from the back of your own court you get to choose to eliminate someone from their team or bring someone back to your team.

Ball goes over the hedge and out of the school, you have to go and get it from Elsies garden whilst a crowd forms around the fence to block the view of any teachers.

First team to eliminate all opposing players wins.

    Better than football I reckon.

Has anyone been to Manchester airport recently? How were the queues? Media hype or was it real squeaky bum time making it to your gate?

We travel on Saturday morning from Terminal 3.

In the event it was a complete breeze. Walked straight through more or less.

Took half hour to get back in on return.

    Same again in September please.

Isn’t that exactly how most investments that can go up or down (E.g. stocks and shares) work? You buy and if the price drops, you decide whether to bail out or hold your nerve and hang on to your investment. Is Crypto trading any different?

    No. In my opinion.

The technology is quite interesting and does have it's uses and will do into the future.  But the way some people bang on about the trading of it as though that in and of itself was something ground breaking you'd think no one had ever held any shares or traded currency before.
