Brilliant. I've waited about 30 years to see us, get stuck in like that.
We learned from the Birmingham game and the correct team was picked and the players worked for the club and fans.
So many teams have played us and got results from us by being ugly, in this league, so many times, time and time again, we have to be ugly at times, and tonight we were ugly, but beautiful at the same time. Our fans were wonderful throughout.
I love Derby County Football Club. Well done Wayne Rooney.

That approach actually has quite a lot of merit to it and it's the only 3 at the back lineup that's really caught my eye. Brown at the back gives a little bit more pace, comfort going out into wide areas and ability on the ball. Ebosele is a genuine threat in a wing back position and much more likely to hurt teams than Byrne is and wing back suits him more than being pushed further forward. Also gives the front three a lot of freedom.

I would guess - given that the quote hasn't been repeated anywhere since - that Sky actually know the same as the rest of us and the rest of the press - diddly squat.  They probably jumped the gun and presumed.
We were found not guilty of any wrongdoing re the stadium sale and have been punished with a fine for the accounting/amortisation issues so both matters are now closed and dealt with, or should be.  The only thing left is the financial results from accounts resubmitted and our performance against FFP targets (for which transgressions and punishment is clearly set out).
You would have thought that had we not resubmitted any accounts that we would have heard about that by now so I would guess that the resubmitted accounts probably either show that we failed FFP but we are arguing mitigation (the EFL let us go on using our amortisation method year after year without saying anything) or that we have resubmitted accounts that show we passed the FFP tests but the EFL don't agree how we have got to that result; or a bit of both.

4 minute sit down and rehydration.  It was poor form for me.  I think she was questioning if it should be classed as an injury that would stop her playing out till the next break.  She had a point.  Sure Nadal had one recently and cracked on till the next break in the match.

I'd be pretty pissed of if it took an opponent 3 or 4 minutes to have a bit of tape put on at that point in a game, and I was applying considerable pressure.

This debate about results over style is a matter of personal preference. Whilst I was pleased we reached the playoffs under Rowett, I hated the football we played so much that I had no faith in it and couldn't even be bothered to go to the playoff matches. When it didn't work, it stunk. The home defeat to Sunderland was the only time I've ever booed a Derby team off. If I was the owner on that night, I'd have sacked Rowett on the spot, I was so angry. I was over the moon when he left. I'm not therefore sure I could support Bowyer as manager, and that's without considering what a horrible little dickwad he is.

I am enjoying the majority of the football we are playing. I like the way we are playing out from the back. The movement is generally good. We clearly have an obvious problem up front which is going to stay with us until at least the new year.
The first Birmingham goal was nothing to do with pressure, just a sloppy pass back by a young player. The second could have been avoided if our overrated and unreliable right back had bothered to track their player back when he picked up an unfortunate ricochet.

Not surprised on here by some of the usual suspects who only pop up after a loss asking for a Neanderthal approach to football.

Alright so we lost, but at least we were the ones trying to play football and for a couple of spells in the game we almost got the goal we needed. I couldn't stand watching that horrible brand of "football" that Bowyer puts out there week after week, it might be effective but fook me I would rather watch one of the wife's shows than that!!

In terms of the squad I think we could have done with three more coming in; a quick CB, short term cover at DM and a left footed wide right option. Another striker would have been a bonus.
So where does that leave us ? With everyone fit the picture doesn't look too bad, actually it looks decent (rough punt at what Rooney would go for):
    Roos
    Byrne Jagielka Davies Buchanan
    Bielik Bird
    Jozwiak Morrison Lawrence
    Baldock
Subs; Allsop, Ebosele, Stearman, Knight, Shinnie, Sibley, CKR
With the likes of Fozzy, Stretton and Watson providing capable competition (and quite possibly swapped in for a few of the above). The primary issue is that we are suffering a minor injury crisis to complement our transfer restrictions and the concern going forwards will be "Can we get players back fit before other players have to play too many minutes?". That's probably going to be the deciding factor at least until January. Get a fair few of those players back fit and we probably do ok based on how we've been playing so far, lose another couple players and we could quickly get in trouble.

There are times when you travel back from an away defeat full of gloom and despondency.  Not tonight.
I don't know whether our young players on show in Sheffield will turn into top class PL players, into top class Championship players or whether they will make a career in the lower leagues but tonight's performance brimmed with endeavour, movement, skill, hard work and commitment to the shirt.  They were more than deservedly ahead at half time and probably should have made more of a couple of good breakaways. It was one of the most encouraging halves of football that I have seen us have in several years.  Unsurprisingly they tired in the second, gave away two soft goals, could and probably should have scored at least one more, but kept their shape and the pattern of play right to the end.
If I were the manager I would be pleased and disappointed in equal measure - pleased at the display and the experience gained, pleased that most of the first team players didn't have to feature, pleased that the style of football he is developing is starting to bear fruit; disappointed that we're not still in the cup, disappointed that we gave away a possible winning position. I would also be worried that Jack Stretton looked to have a knock.
Well done to those Rams fans there - loud, vocal and supportive support.  Well done too to Fozzy for his all round captain's performance, to Hutchinson for his first half in particular and for Louie Sibley for his goal, restraint despite some vicious fouls against him (has he got the message?) and all round MOTM performance
