we have jj on the wage bill, doubtful we will get any value out of him

Yes but in the position we are in we cant just go out and replace him.

We took a risk extending his loan, I'd imagine with a view to persuading him to join us next season, and it has backfired.

Tough titty. We have to accept injuries as part of the game and also understand the reason we have been getting players prone to injuries.

One thing for sure is that there is going to need to be a massive rebuild for next season whatever league we are in based on the contracts expiring and the complete flops we have signed this season.

The main thing for me is why on earth did we keep picking the likes of Collins and NML for games in the the rubbish pizza cup when we could have given real game time to Brown Weston etc to see how they did which could have saved some serious money in the future.

If we weren’t forced to play the likes of all the kids we wouldn’t have survived as a club and start to look at what they are being transferred for Whittaker nearly went to Lazio for £12 million A Brown went for £3.5 million knight for £2 million Bird for £? Ebosele £500,000 Plange £1 million to mention a few of them - Warne won’t play them whilst Rooney had to and wanted to play them

To be fair, we had Palace's pants down with Pkange. Absolute crap.

I think the success of this window actually lies with Wags and/or Wash getting fit.

If either, or both can be fit in the next few weeks, then people will probably look back at it differently and call it a success. We’ve strengthened a few areas that needed it, but left ourselves with only one for striker.

If Wash or wags aren’t back in the next week or so, then we’re ultimately up poo creek without a paddle.

For me:

Pros

- Cash signing a new deal

- Nyambe signing a new deal

- CBT signing

- Adams signing

Negatives

- Bird leaving (not a fan of this loan back should have just parted company)

- No striker, now we wait for injured players.

We could of kept brown tho. At least until we managed to sign someone. I do think its a good move for brown but if we dont get someone on a free now we are struggling

I glanced through some of the last 30 pages and it looked like this:

Maybe one could see the bigger picture as well. Or is it too early to use cognitive skills and take a bit of perspective?

Yes, we are 2-3 weeks without a back-up striker, and it's hardly optimal. But our midfield is stronger than in December and we managed to sign one of the most effective winger/forwards in the league so wingers improved massively. It's risky but hardly a worth meltdown as you lot seem to think.

Quality, not quantity is often phrased here, but now that opinion seems to be forgotten. This squad has been capable of having a great winning streak and with the help of CBT, it is possible to repeat.

Obviously, you can stay butthurt whole weekend if that suits your plans. Perspective is another option if you want to.

Exactly. Here we are in need of a forward and Brown has played a grand total of 13 minutes in L1 and is now out on loan.

Korey Smith, Hourihane, Collins, Barkhuizen, Sibley are all likely to leave this summer, and what have we seen of Weston, D Robinson, Fapetu, Lindsay, Cruz Allen, etc.? It's great that Cashin has signed a new deal but a big offer would take him out, Bradley is 32 and obviously not up to it, Elder & Ward have struggled. Maybe Bartley, Radcliffe, Cox, or Bardell could step up and follow in Cashin's footsteps. Maybe we'll never find out if these lads are good enough.

It's so bloody short-sighted!

The fact he has gone to a non league club would lead me to believe we don't think he is ready for League One football yet?

That's not really the point though is it? I've argued Warne has a histroy of choosing older players and failing to get reasonable money in on a consistent basis for the players he did sign. Peterborough, with a similar budget somehow manage to sign younger players and sell them for large amounts. If Peterborough can do it, then we should be able to too. The problem here is a manager unwilling to focus on youth - whether signing or bringing through from the academy.

Peterbrough don't just sign forwards to sell on for big bucks. They've also started bringing through players from their own academy - Edwards, Burrows and Jade-Jones are starting every week. One of them is a LB and another a CB.

I still don't get judging Warne on youth though. It seems to me Warne was recruited as a promotion specialist, his transfer strategy at Rotherham worked in getting them promoted and sometimes keeping them there, so he's using the same methodology here. If he's prioritising promotion over youth progression then I'm not going to criticise his recruitment patterns if it ends up in achieving this goal- which it still may. If he doesn't achieve it though, I suspect I'll largely agree with your sentiment. So much hinges on promotion this season.

Because it's part of his job. Why do you think Clowes is still spending millions to fund the academy? No one other than the manager can make the decision on playing our academy players or not. If they aren't gmaking the step up to the first team then Clowes is wasting millions every year.
