littleover ram
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/65611279 sounds like the £100m is based on Cardiff staying up in the PL had they had Sala. Shame that clubs have been allowed to sue other clubs over theoretical results. Can clubs sue referees over bad decisions? Can we sue that Sheff Wed player for diving and claim we would been promoted? Tyler Durden
The whole matter is extremely distasteful and the Cardiff directors should have a grain of moral decency to know when to draw a line under the matter. Am sure Sala's family are loving this bickering being played out in the national media. Cardiff should just do the right thing and stump up the transfer money they owe to Nantes then move on. Wycombe claimed the difference between L1 and the Champo was £8m Taken from the article to which you [provided the link... Quote Dalman confirmed the Cardiff's lawyers were responsible for determining the sum being sought. "I really think that's very much a legal question and I really don't want to answer that question," he added when asked how they arrived at the fee of 110m euros. "Our lawyers came up with the number. There is logic to it. It's not a number that we picked from the air." ... which doesn't appear to give any hint to support your "Sounds like..." theory. 🤷♂️ I think that... regardless of our own personal thoughts and opinions on this tragic event, or indeed the long running saga that continues 4 years on... it wouldn't be healthy to speculate, and it certainly wouldn't be polite to trivialise the event in order to compare it to poor refereeing decisions and/or oppo players who push the boundaries of the laws of the game. They say their lawyers came up with that figure based on logic. That amount can only be based on PL money, unless the lawyers reckon Cardiff would have sold £100m worth of Sala shirts
RadioactiveWaste
Did Nantes actually damage cardiff? Did Nantes book the plane? If they did, was there any reason on their part to suggest the booking was problematic? Even then I'm struggling to see how it was Nantes that should bare the responsibility for his death. His death hurt cardiff as a footall team, sure, but a contracted player being unavailable is very much a you problem. The did not buy the man. They bought his contract rights to play profession football for them. Unless Nantes directly were involved in his death which seems tenuious as the responsibility ultimatly lies with the travel provider who offered the service (or so it seems to me). I expect cardiff are doing this because they can't pay the money they owes not because they actually believe this. I'd be disgusted if they actually did. And, they will have instructed their lawyers to do this so "oh the lawyers came up with the number" you told them to and probable told them you'd like it to be big. therealhantsram and Tamworthram

You say this but the club are desperate. All footballing bodies see him as a Cardiff player hence them being forced to pay £20m to Nantes but their own insurers won’t pay out because they don’t believe he was a Cardiff player. Where does a championship club just find that level of payment?

RadioactiveWaste
Again, they paid for the contract rights for him to play football for them. They now don't want to pay for them. Mostly because they can't. They didn't buy a man, they bought a contract. Rev

Where does a championship club just find that level of payment? Surely the way out of this is to get a court judgement on whether he was a Cardiff player? If he was, the insurers will have to pay out and then they can pay Nantes. IlsonDerby
