Torquay v Derby (A) Matchday Thread

Anyone got the info on whether it would be financially possible to sign Osula permanently in Jan/Summer?

He seems to be a class player, especially at 19. Would be great for us for years to come - an investment worth it if we can stump up the funds/Sheff would sell.

Only seen 15 mins but the vets of our 11 should be back on the bus with their feet up and the young lads on to see the second 45 out. So wasteful in front of goal, this game should be wrapped up.

Shocking conditions so Torquay well and truly in it still.

Hopefully get this game put to bed before the 60 and save some legs.

What statistics do you have to back up another statement slating a young player who’s confidence is clearly low?

Watching him play mate... misses chances and runs into blind alleys , or don't you watch games.

Half-time

Cashin immense as ever.

Two good chances for Dobbin, but he is such a poor finisher.

We should have had a second or third when players are finding it quite easy to create a scoring position and so are taking the shot (understandable), but when someone has been nearby in a much better position.

Bird with a great assist for Osula's very well taken goal, seeing the loanee get across the defender to reach the low cross first. But Bird very fortunate not to be booked early for a bad foul, just as Sibley was unfortunate to be booked later for trying to control a high ball on the end of his boot. Commentators trying to make a controversy out of it and are clearly disappointed even Holloway said not a red. So then they try to claim Torquay should have had a penalty and don't even show the push on Dobbin that might have been. But Derby's was a much better shout than anything for Torquay.

We're inviting a lot of pressure on, but have been equal to it so far. We should keep it simple, get the ball wide on the right and work the chances and make sure we take one or two. Then start taking players off to rest them.

We need to control the ball better. In this wind and rain, we need to keep the ball on the floor and use our better control and skill and pace to be a bit more ruthless.

I do, so my opinion on him is that his pace and directness can be an asset for the side, he’s got a bit of skill too, he needs to work on his composure in front of goal and that will come in time with more practice and confidence if/when he does score some more. He can be wasteful and frustrating at times, which I think is your observation, that doesn’t make him “the most wasteful striker we’ve had for years”, especially when he’s only played a limited number of games in comparison to others down the years.
